Nooo the civic with traction control ALL The way off can launch with break hold 😭😭 put me behind the wheel. Lets redo this. Haha I’m just biased, I like the aftermarket community with the civic too.
The Elantra N is beautiful now. Beautiful lines. The Mazda is nice too but seems a bit tame in design. The SI looks like a rocket and has nice rims and tail lights Not too many Mazda dealer networks so I’d be afraid to get it serviced
There’s actually quite a lot of dealers for a less prevalent product.. the only thing I think you’d need to worry about is the cost of maintenance not being able to get it maintenanced. If you get one and don’t have a dealer in your area for some reason- please find a way to get it serviced at an actual Mazda center. lil jiffy lube mechanics are not trained properly on those engines like certified Mazda professionals are. Your car will not last long. It’s pricier to have a Mazda but you can have a very reliable car if you treat it properly
The Elantra surprised me a bit. The Si would probably kill both of the others in an autocross, as they are ruling in SCCA G Street class racing. The Mazda looks like a great car but I’ll pass until they get rid of the live rear axle and put a dual clutch in it.
@@Marlon_J On an autocross course the Mazda will not fare well. It’s 400 pounds heavier, has 7” wide wheels, a solid rear axle, and torque converter transmission. Autocross isn’t where it will shine.
Mazda needs to up it and at least put a dual clutch in this and then it’ll be a real problem for everyone 4 turbo’d. This engine is extremely strong compared to all the turbo 4s out now it just needs a different transmission.
Mazda defeated the dual clutch Elantra N Line so I think their transmission is just fine. Mazda is designing an 8 speed automatic that they will be adding to new models.
@@andrewthach1989 that’s a big negative. This 2.5 turbo is the best in the segment the weak link is the transmission. If the put a 8speed or dual clutch it’s absolutely game over for everyone.
Mazda won't change the transmission. It's very matured and extremely reliable. Reliable transmission reduces cost not only for owners but also for the manufacturer due to less free warranty orders.
These cars may have similar hp and price but they are 3 different cars for different things really. I would say the mazda is the nicest and most comfortable hands down, its for cruising but its the worst in terms of raw performance. The Si is a daily sedan that has some mild sport to it but its not really a high performance vehicle like the type R or the N cars. The Elantra N was created to be a high performance sedan. So it really is in a class of its own for the price that its at. The Civic Si truly competes with the Elantra N-Line
Now if they would just give the mazda3 an independent rear suspension and an 8 speed with a quicker steering trio. It'd be the everything killer of the segment
I have the Mazda3 turbo and the rear torsion beam doesn't kill the handling, in fact the fastest FWD car in the Nurburgring has a rear torsion beam (Megane RS Trophy), but I agree with you on the transmission, it isn't bad but the engine is more capable than the transmision allows.
@@vicp8772 the Si purpose is for the drivers experience. You’re absolutely right, it is NOT meant to be a drag car. However, the purpose of this video is a drag race, and many Si owners mod to become more competitive in a straight line, have you NOT read the comments here as to how they’re disappointed the Si lost? I mean, i think it did just fine. I wouldnt expect anymore from a stock Si... If anything the Si , somehow, outperformed an awd car with 320 lb-ft tq off the line in some of the digs of this video...which is odd lol
This goes to show the Mazda traction control is industry leading. It performs BETTER when on (I think it’s called skyactiv g vector or something like that) this is a performance traction control system
I bought a 22 N Line, off the line nothing amazing! Damn engine seems to bog on the DCT from 1-2 gear driving normal and I hate that. I’ve yet to try off the line full throttle. IIt’s not gonna do great dragging. It shines mid range, though. Overall I’m happy.
Fact check.... the elantra N line can be had with a 6 speed manual. Also the mazda 3 is way more expensive than these 2 cars and has an engine that is an entire liter bigger than the others. There was no contest.
I think we all knew that the Mazda would win the contest but it's interesting to see the differences between those cars. Maybe brake torquing would have helped the Elantra. Well the Si is manual, makes it harder from a dig but still a good car.
brake torque may or may not help the elantra hyundai's even the manual once it sense high brake pressure and accelerate input it cuts the throttle.. try the hand brake u'll get better results
Hyundai/Kia have awful traction control that cuts off all the power. That's why in the rounds when traction control was off, the N Line Elantra was doing much better and beating the Si.
@@braetonwilson4296 100% correct and unless you know that you would just assume the Elantra driver was bad at accelerating. Although his reaction time is slow
"Brake torquing" the Elantra makes it way worse just like you see in this video.. I have an N line and just mashing the gas off the line doesn't produce this lazy ass start, just a little turbo lag in first gear until 3000 rpm
My buddy got a brand new si and I couldn't find one myself so I ended up with a N Line and we have drag raced so many times. Both of ours are 6spd manuals and I win every time. He always has me at the dig from a stop but half way through second I'm always passing him and roll races instantly gives me the advantage. Can't tell if the elantra driver is bad or the dct is bad because I have only heard real good about hyundais wet clutch so I would be surprised if that was actually the transmission.
@@junkiexl86just keep in mind you’re paying the premium $$ for that reliability. If the traction control is not all the way OFF, ( pedal dance) the car bogs down pretty bad. 2800-3100 rpm is a good range to launch it. P.s 18000 miles still on the first clutch lol
Even if the Elantra reaction time is slower, and i don't think so, it beat the hot hatch benchmark for the last 15 years. This Dct is tricky to launch. I got a Forte gt with the same dct, and i think the Firte launch better than the Elantra. I don't know why touhg...The fact that you can not rev-brake more than 2000 rpm does not help, that's why the SI exploded faster, but the quikness of the DCT take's over pretty fast. @@fredzeppelin3969 your right that same argument could be made for all cars but the si is not overrated.
It won't happen. Mazda is pretty confortable with their torque converter tranmission.
Def not better than the VW turbo 4's
@@andrewthach1989 that’s a big negative. This 2.5 turbo is the best in the segment the weak link is the transmission. If the put a 8speed or dual clutch it’s absolutely game over for everyone.
Mazda won't change the transmission. It's very matured and extremely reliable. Reliable transmission reduces cost not only for owners but also for the manufacturer due to less free warranty orders.
The guy driving the Elantra ruined this comparison. Complete wash.
That is an N line. The N hasn’t arrived yet. The N would beat the Mazda.
