- The equatorial oceans are distinct regions characterized by surface and subsurface currents whose behavior is influenced by surrounding wind and water flows and the absence of Coriolis deflection at low latitudes.

One of the best explanations. Good work :)
Thank you!
for my study we get lectures and an exam regarding tides and currents.
I did not understand how it all works, but this playlist really makes it all come together and helps me understand.
It also makes it painfully clear that the lectures i got, where not complete since the origin of coriolis effect, rossby waves and the ekman theory were not included or merely skimmed over.
Thank you!
this video was made so thoughtfully. you did not leave anything, from causes to variations and distribution!
thanks!!!
best explanation on youtube. Keep it up!!
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for the comment.
simple, subtle and explanatory. keep it up..
Glad you liked it
so good explanations.....

Well done!
This is what I was looking for.
Thank U sir
Glad you found it. Thanks for commenting.
thnx for the lucid explanation
Please make more videos on oceanograpghy .
Beautiful
what changes happen to equatorial undercurrent due monsoon in Indian ocean ?
Can I ask you a question? I am learning about ENSO now. If the speed of the eqautorical count current(eastward) is mainly determined by the prevailing winds(westward), how come the cold water upwelling in the west coast of Peru still persist in the La Nina period? I thnk the higher prevailing trade wind speed, the higher ECC wind speed. I think the ECC can resist the cold upwelling around Peru coast, so there would be no strong cold SST during La Nina.
thank youuuuuuuuuuu
I have a question. I read in an Oceanography lab manual that the counter-currents flow fastest during the Equinoxes. Why would that be? Is is just a matter of more direct energy being added to the system by the sun?
Crystal clear 👏👏
Was this current used for navigation?
The manilla galleons used the north Pacific current to reach the Americas, why not use the equatorial current?
Does gravity plays any role in equator counter current?
Please keep it up!
Thank you
So final answer is convergence of two equatorial currents ?
Thank you very much!
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment.
Awesome explanation
