ALL parents and ALL Educators need to coach kids about bullying. 1. Don’t do it. 2. Don’t take it, not from anybody.

Strength that I admire. Loved her cautious optimism about the future, “but you know, humans.” So true.

Oksana, I watched this piece in awe, not just for what you have achieved as a proof of your philosophy that you never know what you can achieve unless you try (and persist) but also for being willing to share your story as an inspiration for others. There is one other thing that needs to be said and that is you ARE beautiful in every sense of the word so, if you should have any doubts left, cast them aside. One is not held by the physical but by the caring ...and I speak from 46 years experience! May your courage and self-worth never leave you and may happiness be your lot.

When I see videos of people like her, I feel so horrible about myself because of how fortunate to have decent health and working body parts. I would absolutely give my legs and hands to people like her to take away the cruelty this world gives children born differently. But God bless her for the emotional strength she has a grown adult.

I am a guardian of a mentally challenged person. I have been for 40 yrs. I am positive he has taught me more than I could ever teach him on how to treat respect and embrace everybody I meet and know. We all have been put here for a reason it is up to each of us and then share that in a gracious and positive way to the world. It is not what you get it is what you give that matters.

Internalized extreme grief can manifest itself in hallucinations and intrusive images that make no sense at all. The fear is so strong that our brain is misfiring all over the place.

Anyone with any age on them, grew up being Bullied, or Teased !
No one thought anything about it !
Sometimes it ended in a fight, which many times settled it !
Once your peers understood they weren't going to get away with it, they stopped !
Today people have made a big deal out of it !
    Add nauseam !
Sadly, today hiding behind the keyboard has made it easy to call names, from a distance !
Once again many parents have dropped the ball, by not monitoring their children's activities on their phones or computers !
Much of this could be nipped in the bud if parents were more responsible instead of letting their kids phones babysit them !
    IMHO !

Growing up, your peers do the most psychological damage to your self-confidence. I blame the parents of the bullies. No doubt the parents were bullied as children too, but that's NO excuse to bring your children up that way.

Oksana’s body was born like this because of Chernobyl and her parents abandoned her at an orphanage where she and the children were regularly starved and raped and her best friend there was murdered by some of the men in front of her when they tried to escape.
Her mother was a single professor when she adopted her.
