Dulcimer is full of hidden gems! Using DAC tuning and playing only on the melody strings, try sounding out Christmas songs like God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen and O Come, O Come Emmanuel. Also the mountain tunes Pretty Polly, Reuben's Train, Red Rocking Chair, The Cuckoo, And Am I Born to Die. Many tunes with little effort!
Really enjoyed the DAC tuning. Gwen is a great inspiration for improving Dulcimer abilities. Minor keys have a haunting sound. Shady Grove in Dm is awesome.
+John Shawhan Thanks, John! Those mountain minors just grab me. They remind of when I lived at the back of beyond in the Southern Appalachians, where stars could actually be seen at night and an owl's hoot and whippoorwill's call would startle me out of sleep.
I love playing in C. One of my favorite tunes. You sounded awesome. Thanks for sharing with us.
DAC is the key of D. You'd have to find the equivalent tuning in the key of C
Wow. Just that step over to c gives it such a great sound!
