Great review Ed, and you're very welcome, I'm truly happy to have you review this Steinhart. For the money it is a great watch, this said it is nowhere near the Ginault. My Ginault Silent Service is a far superior watch, no discussion, but you would expect this to be the case as it also costs much more, nearly 3 times. A comparison against a San Martin would be very interesting indeed, hope you can do that. Please keep the watch as long as you like. If not too much trouble, could you please put the Steinhart on your time grapher to see how she's running? Thank you my friend 👍
Steinhart makes some great timepieces. I have the bronze Ocean One with bronze ceramic bezel and brown dial. Out of all my watches, it is the one I wear the most. Can't go wrong with Steinhart. Great video!
Great review MrE I was thinking about getting a Steinhart .. But I can't get with these MATTE BLACK DIALS😤😤😤 I have 2 many SM with this Same Dials INK BkACk or GLOSSY BlACK or PAINO.. is what I prefer but I hope u enjoy
I'm gonna comment before I watch the video. this should be interesting. the Steinheart is so much different than all those other watches. this should be interesting to see.
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting great information super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
Oh yeah Duncan I totally get what you're saying these companies make very excellent watches it would just be nice if they had their own design with an equal level of quality but in fairness I was just at the big Rolex ad here in my area where they have just about every major top brand in store and I got to say there really wasn't that much variety as each one of the Brand's basically all had the exact same or very similar to the watches of all the other brands lol I guess it's kind of like the same thing when you go to The mousetrap I'll there's 15 brands of mouse traps but they all basically function and look the same lol
I wholeheartedly agree with that this is just something I've heard people say it even came from John that has had people say it to him and they just don't get that Ginault is on a different level
Great review there Ed, glad to hear you are impressed with it, as Steinhart (imo) are fantastic quality watches for the price point. Very well built and solid pieces aren't they. Agree on your points, and if only the bezel action was buttery and the clasp a bit more refined.. I have the model you just reviewed but in 42mm - no cyclops version. its a beast and very solid, but bezel on the stiff side. I also have the (now discontinued) Ocean 39 GMT 500 Premium (Batman) and its one of my favs! This has the Sellita SW330-1 (Élaboré) and is 500m WR, not that I will ever need that lol. The bezel action on this is also much better :) its a super luxury feeling watch. The full lumed bezel is amazing. I have 2 San Martin's, the BB58 and the Water Ghost, and while these are great quality pieces, (the BB58 is one my favs), imo Steinhart are still way ahead in terms of brand and offering for the price and anything Chinese really in my experience. (jus my 2 cents). Pagani isn't even at the table, while i do like them (and have 3 of them) just not up at this level, which is reflected in the cost. Ginault, still top drawer for me though, although I do find it hard to compare/place my Ginault's when looking at my 2 Omega's and my Breitling Superocean. My Tag not so much. But i am defo a massive fan boy of Ginault now i have em in my life! :) Looking forward to Sat live show brother.
Yeah John I agree with everything you said 100% yes I really wanted to get my hands on their Batman GMT but I have had no luck as you said is discontinued and yes I do agree that this is better quality then Saint Martin I just feel that's more of a fair fight steinhart is put up against Ginault regularly by steinhart fanboys and I totally think this is one of them situations where if you don't ever get the Ginault then ignorance can be Bliss because the Steinhart is built excellent and feels very nice however that bezel is on the tight side like you said and just like you said the bezel and clasp are the two main things I would change not that they are terrible or function poorly I just seen better I see on Saturday
@@mr.eswatchreviews Yeah that's it isnt it, if you don't know, you don't know and hard to make a fairly placed comparison. Ginault are wayyy ahead of Stein imo. I have just had my OR2 blue bezel in my hands and honestly I cannot think of any other watch that hits pretty much top marks for the whole package! Its hard to find anything to critique. I have just tested bezel action on my seamaster pro and compared against the OR2 and SS, and they both are far superior to the Seamaster lol. I think i may have mentioned on Sat, i really wanted a Sub 124060 until I found Ginault. If I got a call from the AD just now offering me one for retail, I would find it so hard to actually want to spend that kind of money. I have my Black OR2 no date on the way hopefully soon, so that I am 100% sure will scratch my non date Sub itch! :) Urgh, if only I was closer to you I would defo have sent you in the Batman for a review buddy. PS you make me laugh, love your sense of humor.
@@jonnymillergers81 again Johnny we were both on the same page the only reason I still consider running down to the Rolex dealer when I get back call is going to be because of the resale for myself and my opinion my Ginault's I have totally scratched that itch and I don't really desire the Rolex like I did because I feel like I have something so comparable and on the same level but at some point I'm sure the Rolex prices are going to get retarded again because it's not that I feel that the rolexes a better watch but we'll have that excessively high resale value down the road and in the future
@@jonnymillergers81 yeah It would be really hard to turn down anything that you know you can turn around and usually sell for 50% more than you bought it for
Yeah I really feel a lot of the AliExpress brands give the steinhardt a strong run for the money but there are a lot of people out there that say that the steinhart is just as good why spend the money on the Ginault so I'm going to explain it to them lol
Lol yeah just a couple more arm hairs to go running strong though I have alot of eta 2824 and sellita pieces so that backup 4hz movement will come in handy down the line
@@mr.eswatchreviewsI owned them both and the ONLY thing the Ginault had that was better was the clasp! Every time I wore it I felt like a copy. Research the company and you’ll know why. I sold the ocean rover to a guy that just wanted the bracelet and then he sold it on a nato LOL
@@mr.eswatchreviews we have same taste. I love glidelock clasps. I think the cronos no date sub would better for me than this. No offense to steinhart but I prefer the look of the cronos and it checks the boxes.
@@mikearkous8379 I can agree with that the glidelock on my Kronos is badass and very comfortable the $200 price tag which is a little less than half of the steinhardt is a big plus they both have a ceramic bezel and Sapphire I actually think the Kronos magnification for the date is better and what little bit of back play the bezel has on the Kronos the money savings kind of makes up for that Oooooh is going to be a tough rematch
@@mr.eswatchreviews went to a respectable jewler. Tried on a no date sub, Pepsi gmt, and an op 41. We spoke for an hour and had a great convo. I told him about my grail watch, the explorer, and he is able to get it for me and offer a decent price. I took his card and perhaps if the price is right I’ll pull the trigger in the near future . Got to see some nice seiko as well. The crown at the 4 position does bother my wrist
The Steinharts are the best bang for the buck in the sports watch field. They blow the San Martin outta the water - and are on par with the Ginault inless one is a watch snob. Yeah I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree there's a lot of watches in this price range that rival and straight up outperformed the steinhart and no it is in no way near at all on Ginaults level and as for my hands since I am an automotive technician professionally who makes a very significant living I do the best I can with my hands but to each their own because this is a blue collar channel it sounds like maybe we're just not for you
