God what can I say? She's so amazing it's hard to describe. Her timbre, dynamics, control and phrasing are other worldly. I've heard them all, Striesand, cousin Whitney name 'em. Dionne just has something no one else has. Just listening to her can bring me to tears. I'm 67 in a few months. I remember her voice being the soundtrack of my life in the 60's. She hits me in the chest like a torpedo. Love you Dionne.
In her prime here. The voice, hair, presentation is top notch. Reminds me of her rendition of stevie wonders All in love is fair some two years earlier in 75. She's one of a kind!
Gosh, when Dionne was young and in her prime here, she makes the hair on my skin rise. What a phenomenal, legendary gorgeous voice she had. Just wish she didn't smoke cigarettes which never helps the vocal cords. Anyway, her legacy is set forever. She was amazing !!!!
The Elegance in her voice is incomparable. A class of its own. Her Confidence and Style epitomize the rendition of Alfie. She is Alfie and Alfie is Dionne Warwick.
I know other singers did a great job with this song, but, imo, NOBODY DOES THIS LIKE MS. DIONNE! :-) And this is one of her best performances that I've seen captured on YT posts - Ms. D always seems to resonate with various European audiences, and they, especially with her Really, she makes the "Alfie" movie theme song into a superb operatic ballad - classic! :-) thx for posting!
One of a kind voice and songs that touch the soul & heart of me - ALWAYS!! I so appreciate Dionne Warwick, even in my late teens I loved that she was always such a lady - and I'm 70 now
This was the SANGIN' WHITNEY spoke of in her family, but 4:23 until the end is what makes her genius, THE WAY DIONNE CLOSED THIS SONG IS NOW MY FAVORITE ENDING !!!! The Vocals were ONNNNNNN this night for sure!!!!!!!!!!!
My god, I could simply die listening to this version of Alfie. I was already a huge fan of Warwick and Bacharach but I've never heard anything from their body of work that even remotely approaches the sublimity of this one live performance of the song. Warwick is so alive, vibrant and fully inhabiting (and in command of) the song that I truly feel I could expire from the exquisiteness. Thanks so much to whoever posted this. If only, if only these particular performances were available
What talent and so natural/Here it is 2020 and the artist of today could learn so much from this beautiful talented singer/ Thank you for posting and sharing this video
Dionne is one of my favorites. She is so underrated as Diana, especially in their own community. They can take standards & love songs & bring out richness in them & yet give it a unique & proper soulful interpretation, where all cultures, generations, & races are spell bound. Her low resonance is just as good when she is high; that’s control & tonality & ability to follow music with a beautiful interpretation. Patti Labelle, etc. can’t sing this, so I wish others would recognize Dionne.
I love both of them. Dionne more, though. Lol. But you're right. Colored people don't like them because they think they sound white. It's sad, pathetic and hateful too.
@@skip031890 Perhaps you should resist the urge to claim you know what an entire community of people that you apparently don't belong to like or dislike. That is the epitome of sad, pathetic and hateful. The numbers of us who love Ms. Warwick and recognize her talent are myriad.
You are always here with me in the land of make believe! Man! Was that ever clear off the charts! So glad to have come upon this video. She just oozed that interpretation to perfection. Totally effortless. Nice way to close my evening. One of the greatest divas ever. Anyone who had a heart? Paul W. Green
She's so much more glamorous with longer hair. She once participated in a roast of Sammy Davis, Jr. and her hair was much more than shoulder length at that time. She's beautiful either way. . .
I've been a lifelong fan, but sometimes it bears remembering how truly stunning that voice was in earlier years. I'm still a huge fan but man, this video takes me back to why we were so blown away back in the 70s. Amazing.
As much as I enjoy the readings of this masterpiece by Streisand, CK, Whit, Cilla et al, this vid of Dionne makes it her song, definitively. The Jazz coda/recitative at the end is sublime. Truly the goddess ascending.
one of her best... every song she put out.. you're like, she'll never top that one..lol. she kept 'em coming. i know she had great material to work with, but it was more than that. she really made these songs her own.
wow. A mature artist and woman..who could sing anything effortlessly but is singing a very beautiful tune w profound lyrics. She mustve sung this song a million times before but slowing down the song and giving her space to really sing , gave her chance to show us what an artist she really was, Poetic and incredibly delicate touch.
Tres talentos irrepetibles; la hermosa Dionne Warwick y los tremendos Hal David y Burt Bacharach; da lo mismo si alguien mas la grabo antes; esta version es la perdurable.
my how beautiful this session is ~"whats it all about"... my daily question ~ believe Tori use to sing this in my truck , as I drove , only 4 yrs. & already becoming well versed in Sinatra 101 ~ I call it. great music & memories from the past ! listen to dionne carry these super high notes~ amazing !
The amazing Dionne Warwick with another amazing rendition of this beautiful song. Another version that Dionne does which I like a lot is on Dutch TV. By the way, it sounded like the announcer at the beginning of this video said Donna Summers but I don't know German.
Words cannot describe how much I love this performance... "Alfie" is such a well written song, and no other artist sung it in such a sensitive way as Dionne did in this particular performance. Its much better than her recorded version (that I have here at home). She just knew the right way to use her voice, giving each different parts, different intensity, different feelings, in such an inteligent and emotional way. Even Whitney (and I am a huge Whitney fan) never sung "Alfie" better than this.
I've posted this comment somewhere else but I heard decades ago that the best singers sound like horn players. When I hear Dionne sing (and others) I've always accepted it as the truth.
Ok. You got me there. When one is faced with a 'whew' factor of the magnitude and depth of her vapidly-burlesqued transgressions of basic decency, when one seriously considers not only her thinly-veiled animosity but also the utter contempt with which she holds her fans, well, as they say,,the shine is off this apple.
@rickw1100 I know. I know. However, we're going to let her slide on those. The woman can flat-out sing. I mean, just look at her,,young, spontaneous, playful and so confident in her delivery.
The wrong song to give the whole works on. Listen to Cilla Black or Tracey Thorn's version to get a much simpler, from a girl, version that fits much better, I think.
No need of that because we get them all, and don't have to choose. Diana Krall is great in her own right. Like Dionne, DK has done stuff with her own brand name on it that will stand the test of time - and then some. Sheryl Crow doesn't deserve to be dissed here because she's not in the same crooner category. Apples/Oranges with Sheryl. To label either of them as "amateurish" is immature - ish.
A great singer. Too bad she is such a terrible person , ie the AIDS charity scandal, psychic network, and her horrifying behavior on celebrity apprentice. For shame Dionne!
She was so magnificent....and then came her cousin Whitney. The two of them gave this world some of the best music we shall ever hear. Both of them were class acts in their prime.
DaOrig Truth Seeker - I'm writing this reply to you now on 1/11/2020 - the Lady Dionne is still touring with her magnificent voice - She's top notch and her voice, although lower pitch at age 70 plus is still touching hearts and souls.

This right here is Dionne at TOP of her game. That voice is just layered and effortless. The colors she can wrap a single note in is just genius.
I can't say it any better..This is the best recording of this wonderful classic.2020.
Yes experience, dedication
A song written by Burt and sung by Dionne Warwick. So glad I grew up on their music. Give me those years again.
In her prime here. The voice, hair, presentation is top notch. Reminds me of her rendition of stevie wonders All in love is fair some two years earlier in 75. She's one of a kind!
very lush rendition of ALFIE--they pulled out all the stops on this nice arrangement;

Love her phrasing on this version a vocal masterclass right there.
Oh how I love Dionne.... and those German musicians are very talented 👌🏼
It was written specifically for her 😉
Absolute dominion! The prime of a lady!!
Beautiful! Simply amazing. This song brings tears to my eyes. They don't make singers like this anymore!
She should have gotten a STANDING OVATION! God bless her.
Yes
SHE MADE HER ARTISTRY SO UNIQUE. a BOX OF JEWELS OUT OF HER UNIQUE AND POTENT VOICE.
Her hair is so pretty!
So glad I found this. She blows away her other versions of the song.
The Beautiful Dionne ....She's had better bands behind her. Just love her voice.
Such a TALENT! I grew up with her music in my home and I was blessed with the sound of her voice. Such Grace.
That is so awesome that your Auntie did that! What a fantastic memory!
I love this woman & this song / What a keeper.!!!!!!!
This song makes me think of my mom growing up, she would sing to these songs . I love you mom and miss you everyday . Thanks dionne .
Thank you

Nominate her!!! I did!!! Go to their website!!!
Probably not a popular gig with most entertainers while you have present President.
She got it this year 2024 ...finally!!🤎🫶🏽👏🏽🙌🏽
She did this year

Maybe Hal David's best lyrics.
This family is very gifted in song as they represent a gift from God. Only the voices can touch the Soul like this 🤣. Good golly Ms Molly. LoL

some timing issues but still love it
Maybe? but in the end the conductor was right on, she seemed to realize this and rolled with it. Nice
@slightofffist C'mon shes only human and she has given us some pretty nice tunes.
Was she hurrying the band along with her snaps? love her!
That's an interesting question. She didn't need all those dramatic pauses built in. Leave the phrasing to her, i say.....
Can someone tell me what the presenter says about Donna Summer at the beginning?
He was referring to the previous song Dionne sang at this concert before she sang Alfie, which was also a song sung by Donna Summer
Thanks a lot, that must have been "Love to love you baby" then.
I believe Dionne may have performed a Donna Summer song before Alfie. He doesn't mention Donna sang Alfie...
It's ashame so many know her strictly from the psychic network commercials.
MMAFighter38 you are cute ,,,
