I love you're videos, but could you please stop calling white people Caucasian because true Caucasians are actually middle esteran. Yes, there are some some white people that are Caucasian, but most aren't for they're just plain European and if they are Caucasian there's a high chance it was due to rape & colonization. So please don't call white people Caucasian it's quite hurtful to those who had to run from their country due to Europeans "conquering" they're people and to those who lost their culture to those same European. Thank you so much for hearing me out! :)
Maryam Gill You are wrong. Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, who in 1795 divided the human species into five races: Caucasian, the “white” race; Mongolian, the “yellow” race; Malayan, the “brown” race; Ethiopian, the “black” race; and American, the “red” race. He considered the Caucasians to be the first race on Earth, consistent with the common conception at that time of the Caucasus as a place of human origin.
@@Trajan114 Also, true Caucasians are from in between the black sea & the Caspian sea.

Serene N wow you’re on top of it, I’m very fair skinned so I definitely need to be as diligent as you!
Idea for the next Defining Beauty video: body hair. Per example, men having hairy chest was considered extremely attractive during the 70s-80s, and in some places with predominant “surfer” or “beach life” culture, having blonde hair or low-contrasted hair in relation to your skin in your arms or legs (independently if you’re a man or a woman) is considered attractive as well.
Oooh I support this!
Woahhh this is a brilliant idea, I’d love to see that.
Blonde body hair reminds me of animals bodies
Chest hair for men is still in.
Many asian men dont have hair at all (even in the legs) lol

How to stay young:
1. Sunscreen
2. Tretinoin
3. Collagen Supplements
@Brèagha I agree
*sleep*
There isn't much evidence for the last one
theres no evidence for collagen supplements. theyre stupid and overpriced. eat foods rich with amino acids and it will do what collagen supplements claim to do (if not better)
@@bean2275 Only hydrolyzed collagen is proven.
Research: Not all of these collagen supplements are necessarily effective; however, collagen supplements that contain hydrolyzed collagen from marine sources have been proven to play a protective role in skin aging.
You need up to 18 different amino acids in the right quantities and ratio to create a collagen molecule. Collagen builders made with different amino acids typically only contain glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, but not in their complete ratios and concentrations. They also lack other minor but important amino acids necessary to construct a complete collagen molecule helix chain. Hence, in comparison, Hydrolyzed Collagen is more effective because it is already a complete molecule chain and smaller size, contains the complete amino acid sequence and can be absorbed and transported to the dermis of the skin.

I don’t understand why pale people tan. I think everyone skin color is beautiful and everyone looks best in their natural skin tone.
My husband looks burnt orange or copper, I love his complexion. He’s naturally a bit dark though, from Mexico.
I'm really pale with really dark hair and eyes, including bushy eyebrows. A little colour looks much better with my features.
@Bastian 96 if you are born with that skintone it isn't "naturally tan" it's just your skin color.... A tan is specifically the shade you get when you go out in the sun. That's like saying anyone who is born with brown skin is tan, that's not how that works
I think it looks really good when I tan but I’m not interested in looking like a wrinkly trashcan when I’m old.
I am white and relatively pale normally, but in the summer I get pretty dark. It is not my goal, just a byproduct of living by the beach in a country that has a really long summer. A tan here has positive connotations of being outside all summer, having fun, being on vacation. It's not just about being darker, but also all these positive things that are connected to a tan (along with being able to wear some colours that don't go well with your normal skin tone, which some people really like ). That is why people usually tan in the summer, at least where I am from
I’m Black but have RELIGIOUSLY applied sunscreen on my face and neck since I was 13. I’m 28 now. Also my diet has improved as well to slow down aging

Interesting video. I'm mixed black with Asian, and even whenever I tell people I'm 45 years old, they react with shock and surprise. I've been told I look nothing over 35. I have no wrinkles and my skin is very smooth, elastic and taut. My grandmother, even shortly before she died at the age of 83, also had smooth, elastic and taut skin with no wrinkles. I've observed however that my white friends have a different set of skin-challenges. Those in their 30's have wrinkles and those in their 40's already have sagging skin. The video's very correct though about discoloration in people with dark-skin. I've unfortunately been affected by this, especially areas around the neck and on my back. A lot of my black friends also have similar problems with skin-discoloration. This just goes to prove, you can never have it all...

@Hello Again skin cancer is still a significant problem in Australia
@Hello Again yeah but increased animalq farming means more nitrous oxides which thins the ozone layer even more. This is particularly bad for Australia. Even if a few more people wear sunscreen, the skin cancer rates in Australia won't decrease by a whole lot.

@Hello Again no they didn't have a life expectancy of 40. You aren't that bright it seems. It was about 70 but there was a lot of child mortality so averages to 40. Also, even with sunscreen, people aren't actually going to apply the right amount. When sunscreen was invented l, the stats made it seem like it increases cancer rates but this was only because it made thwn feel bulletproof. Evolution made European skin lighter so it could absorb more vitamin d in areas with less sunlight

Hey all, just want to say that just because "black don't crack" doesn't mean that we should not be careful in the sun. First of all, we can all get skin problems from sunlight. Secondly, black people CAN ACTUALLY SUNBURN, even if of a dark tone (my brownish dad turned R E D for W E E K S ! ! !). Can you talk about small vs large foreheads? It is interesting because people nowadays complain about having a large forehead, but in in renaissance high foreheads were very desirable. Women would even pluck their hairlines. Why? Well a higher foreheard made them look cuter as babies tend to have large foreheads. Cute was a good look back then. Would be interesting to see your perspective
I'm caucasian and live in Portugal, of course i'm going to the beach everyday and get a tan.... But I also use sunscreen everytime... however.... I'm much better looking with a tan instead of pale white skin.... So I guess it's a short term vs long term tradeoff...
Nice perspective. Myself I just really enjoy being in the sun and I think I also ook better with a tan so it makes me more confident. I'm lucky I age very well, but otherwise I'd still see it as a decent investment/sacrifice to age a little worse, but look good when tan haha.

I have a question. I’m Indian, and I have pretty dark skin, so does the “black don’t crack” thing mean that anyone with really dark skin will age well, or just black people? I hope this doesn’t sound offensive, but I really wanna know
Pretty certain it applies to African people of Sub-Saharan descent.
@Y/N, if you have skin color like most Africans bellow the Sahara, sorry to tell you this and i mean no offence, you are a "black" Asian, just because you live another continent does not mean the color "black" changes its meaning. Plus add to the fact, that Africans are not "black" we come in all shades of brown, like most Southern Indians and Sri Lankans.
@@thefragranceapothecary7281 no it would apply to "black" Asians as well. If the man is correct in his description of his skin color, rather he or anyone else with his skin tone will admit it, they are "black". So yeah the "black" dont crack rule applies to them and him as well.

There was a lot of research on sunscreen protection factors, but we didn't have enough time to include it here. We're working on a write up on our website for choosing the correct sunscreen.
Please analyse Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio!
The best sun damage prevention is shade. Sure, sunscreen is okay, but there have been studies that show the ingredients can damage your skin and dna just the same as the sun, plus it's damaging for the ocean and freshwater creatures and ecosystems when it washes off if you go swimming. I like to use aloe vera as an alternative. It keeps skin hydrated, which will help it resist damage on its own, while still providing a layer for the UV rays to pass through and potentially get stopped, plus it's fine for the water. Sunscreen isn't the be all, end all people think it is. Just saying. If you don't like the sun, wear a hat, stay in the shade, and/or use a safer alternative.
Wow do you have any more recommendations? By aloe vera are there any good options of it?
I honestly want to atop using sunscreen but I dont know where to start.
@@delightfulblueberries7405 I don't know what type or fairness your skin is, but I like to use aloe Vera. You just have to make sure you apply it regularly, which I know most people, me included, don't even do with sunscreen. But again, it depends on your skin type. If you are 100% Irish, maybe you should opt for an umbrella and a large brim hat, or a rashguard-style swim suit. If you're, say, Nigerian, I think you'll be fine with some aloe every now and again. But to each their own. My big reason that I stopped wear it was because of its damaging effects on the ocean. 🤔♥️🌊🦈🐠
@@delightfulblueberries7405 I'm not sure, actually. It's really hard to find something that is okay for the water, but also protects your skin, since most things people put on their skin contain manufactured chemicals. I just use aloe because it's thick but easily absorbed, it's okay for the water, it keeps my skin moist (which is half the battle), and it has worked for me, as far as sun protection. I'll do some more research and get back to you.
@@delightfulblueberries7405 okay, so a lot of the websites I looked at recommend oils as an alternative to sunscreen. These include, but are not limited to: red raspberry seed oil(28-50 SPF), carrot oil(28-40 SPF), wheat germ oil(blocks 20% of the sun's rays), sesame oil(blocks 30% of the sun's rays), aloe vera(blocks 20% of the sun's rays), coconut oil(blocks 20% of the sun's rays). But they also recommend including certain foods in your diet that contain carotenoids. These help give your skin a bronzey glow, so you don't need to tan as much, and they help your skin resist uva and uvb rays. I'm not sure how available these products are in your area, or anywhere, which is why I like aloe, cuz it's available pretty much anywhere. But every website I looked at said that clothing or shade was the absolute best protection. That being said, humans need sun to be healthy. We need the vitamin d, and sun exposure has been linked to improved mental health. So there's a fine balance between enough sun and too much sun. I hope this helps on your sunscreen-free journey 😊
bless my mild sun allergy, me always wearing sunscreen and avoiding sun as much as possible is gonna save my skin
You do have sun allergy?😂 Same here! I also do. I have both Sun allergy and nail polish allergy.☹️
ye white skin or pale is mmore liekly to tan in the sun and get too much expourse becuase the plaeness is made for a cold climate that dont see that much sun, and is made so that only a little bit of sun is enough. this is also a reason why darker people have a harder time living in cold cliamtes with limited sun light, they often get a vitiamin d deficency. Its the same with lip size, big lips are great for hotter climate when small lips are good for colder
“Moderate sun exposure in an of itself is good for you ... higher serotonin, along with other benefits.”
The fact that you need to say that people need sun exposure is sad. It’s called vitamin D - obviously you shouldn't sun bathe every day, but taking a 30 minute walk every day, during the day, should be common sense. We need the sun, for our health, for everything on this planet to work. I just hope people aren’t thinking of the sun as some damaging thing to be avoided
Important to say - You still get Vitamin D with sunscreen. And people of darker skin can’t get enough Vitamin D if they life in countries like iceland.
@@l9kl294 are you going to put sunscreen out every time you walk out of your front door? I understand there are people with pale and / or sensitive skin, but even sunscreen is full of nasty chemicals that get absorbed through your skin. Our entire generation treats the body as if it's a bunch of disconnected parts. Everything affects everything
DRK0114 I wear sunscreen on a daily, do some research on what sunscreen actually does, its not proven to be harmful. Wearing sunscreen is always safer than not wearing it. If you’re scared of chemicals, might as well stop drinking water (guess what, its a chemical). There’s even a mineral sunscreen if you’re really afraid of using chemical filters.
Ahhh yes, been hanging out for another episode
What software do you use for these Devine edits??
I hate that women age worse
In theory yes. I think men age worse because most men don't take care themselves and they bald
I want to wear sunscreen but it makes me breakout 😭
your videos are very informative
I'm an African neutral skin tone with freckles person🤷♀️
Well done and interesting video
I have a question for everyone saying wear sunscreen everyday: Should I still wear sunscreen in colder times like winter? And Should I still wear it even if I’m in the house most of the time? (Since im in quarantine)
Yes you wear it everyday of the year because even in the winter there is still UV rays. You also wear it inside because windows don’t stop UV rays. I suggest putting it on in the morning and doing your skin care routine at night so you wash it off 💛
XXXMELISSATACION ok, thank you!
So, question, does a predisposition to keloids correlate to better skin resistance to UV damage? Or do the keloids simply correlate to darker skin?
