For this video, Robby, Thomas, and Sierra head to the Rio Grande National Forest to see Willow Lake in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. The trail starts just outside the town of Crestone and heads up to Willow Lake which is about five miles in. We camped just before Willow Lake and briefly entertained the idea of climbing up to a 14er called Challenger Point. There are also other 14ers in the area including Kit Carson, Columbia Point, and Obstruction Peak. We ultimately gave up on the idea and headed back down after checking out Willow Lake. When we arrived back in the town of Crestone, there was a 4th of July Independence Day parade going on, which was a surreal and fun end to the hike.

rob - won't make you faster but you may consider acetaminophen for headache. can look on pubmed for data on usage to address AMS. Good data on usage vs control vs nsaidsin climbers to prevent AMS. Effective and preferable to nsaids due to not putting kidneys under further duress as will happen at elevation.
What a great program! So many story lines... the mustache... the dog crossing water... the elevation... the marmuts and other wildlife staring at the stache...awesome campsite... expensive pretzels... and so on. Loved the music too

I am glad Thomas tried a mustache. The mustache is ok except I love clean look w/o mustache and it better suits you. It was nice to see Sierra free and w/o chain on this hike except for when Thomas thought she might be in danger when she ran back from straying and Thomas immediately strap her up lol. He loves that dog. It was really cool to see Robby film her as she was one of the guys :)
In general, I love this video. I miss seeing Thomas in your bunch, because he is an element that fills out you're different ways of being just right! You guys are all really cool people, and he's a great element in the mix. I also like western mountains… Being a California native myself

Life is good, guys. Adventure Archives video hits a little differently while I currently have a knee injury that has me out for the whole summer. A good lesson in remaining grateful when I return, perhaps. Looking forward to the Northern, California video. We were there the same time I believe.

Aspen, columbine, marmot, bighorn sheep, ... this video captures Colorado mountains really well. Love watching Sierra but it's a good call not to bring her up the Challenger Point or the Kit Carson Peak.

I used to live in an earthship in Crestone and 4th of July there is a hoot. This was really fun to watch and made me nostalgic for the place, especially the views of the San Louis valley which is a very special place. Thanks for the memories. Happy hiking gentlemen.

I clicked on this video thinking "it haas to be humbolt right? surely no one would try to bring a dog up any of the other sangres" and then I recognized the road to kit carson.
The sangres are my favorite mountains in colorado, if you guys want to see some other gorgeous views n the area hike up to the lake on the other side where the crestones are, its one of the most beautiful areas in the state. also lily lake, its the trail up lindsey which is closed but you can still get to the lake and the view of blanca and ellingwood is spectactular.
