Hi David, A tip from a chemist: When doing chromatography make sure the starting line (where your applied the ink) is above the water. A noticed some ink dissolving in the water in the cup. The water should first run up in the paper and then through the ink. The solvent used is called an eluent. It can be interesting to try different eluents. These can be mixtures. Adding some alcohol/ammonia could make separation better (or worse). Experimenting with this could be interesting. Again a nice review from the Figboot! 👍🏻💪🏻
When I was cleaning some Colossal Squid Dark out of a nib some of the splatter in the sink separated to pure droplets of red and blue, first time I've seen ink do that by itself. I don't know any chemistry but it feels like handmade inks "come apart" easier but use stronger colorants, might affect how this works? idk
You showed the wrong ink swatch for orange. It said Akkerman on it. I have way enough ink... But vampire red and octopus blue might be my temptations, if I had samples in front of me!
I only have samples of two Anderillium inks. The Spoonbill pink from the Avian series and Flapjack Octopus. I love Flapjack Octopus! (that swab of Oranje Boven wasn't too bad either :)) Between samples and bottles, I'm getting to the point where I almost have more orange inks than blue!
I love a good dark teal ink, and Anderillium Colossal Squid Dark is one of my favorites. I can't wait to see their upcoming new line. The themes are so much fun. Did you mean to insert a picture of the flapjack octopus at about 8:58?
you almost make me want to try an orange ink :). I have Flying Squid blue and Collosal dark. Both great inks w/ good flow. I believe the people behind Anderillium have a chemistry background and their inks are also all purported to be pH neutral and safe for vintage pens. Not making promises though I personally feel safe puting it in my parker 51.
I think the Anderillium ink will be for sale. I think it's the D.C. Supershow 2023 ink, Potomac. It's probably Monteverde that is providing the 200 bottles of complimentary ink.
Are you going to do the Avian series too? The colors you showed looked different from the samples on their page and I have been looking at getting some of them.
They are all very nice; my favorite being the Squid Green. So, after hearing the description of the Flapjack Octopus, why wasn't it named the Umbrella Octopus, or mabe the 'Brolly' Octopus? 😅

I could see inks becoming quite a rabbit hole for me, if i ever get into pens like im into knives.
Me too!!
it’s quite a deep rabbit hole: watch out!:)
Looking forward to the DC Pen Show, attending your seminar and checking out this great inks. Thanks for the video.

Just making sure you are paying attention. 🤣

I have Flapjack as a daily use in an orange Sailor Slim. It’s a great ink!
I have their Flying Squid Blue and it's great.

3:15 - they might have been trying for a Sepia colour here, which would fit with the series and the cuttlefish
