- K. Michelle was candid with 92Q's Kiki Brown when asked about the airing of VH1's Sorority Sisters. If you did not know K. Michelle is a member of Delta Sigma Theta and called the show "inappropriate". A 92Q.com Exclusive
To those saying "oh K Michelle can act a fool but those other girls can't, ya'll have to realize K. Michelle didn't come on Love and Hip Hop stating she was a Delta. She came on as K. Michelle, love her or hate her. She was representing herself. These women came on stating what org they were from and now they are a representation of their whole Organization. There is a difference.
***** Technically that's not correct and K. Michelle is incorrect by saying "I am A DELTA"....NO, she pledge Delta, but like All Frat and Sororities, if you're not paying Dues in a grad chapter, going to meetings, and community service(post grad). You are not a member just a past pledge and that's are totally different! So when K. Michelle (who I'm not a fan of) Acts crazy, she is not representing DST because she is no longer a member until she is active in someone's chapter AGAIN!

kweninc. I'm curious as to what you pledged because what you said is not true for my BGLO. You may not be financial but your still a Soror. You may not be active your still a Soror. I said "Delta" & "member" ...which both correlate to "ACTIVE"... she never used the word "pledge" which would have been the correct term for her. Especially during her time frame. Now "What I pledge", is for those who see things that are not seen, and can hear things unheard! If you have enough time, we can talk about it as long as it takes to cross the Sahara....! :)

As a fellow Greek Member, I disagree with part of K.Michelle's statement. You are ALWAYS wearing your Letters no matter if they are visible or not. I do agree that the ladies should've not participate in a show representing their respective organizations. I don't support the show and I was happy to hear that the show was cancelled. as far as the five deltas getting expelled, I agree with that decision because at the end of the day, membership is a privilege, not a right.
All Greeks whether fraternity or sorority and/or different councils should know that you are always wearing your letters and when you participate in something that you did not get permission from your national headquarters, there are consequences. It's not worth loosing your letters so think twice before doing something that may get you remove from membership.

As a woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. it hurt my soul just watching the trailer. I couldn't even bare watching the show. I see myself as a role model and will be in the teaching credential program next year. I will forever have to spend my life defending my sorority and my contributions because of Vh1, Mona Scott, these mediocre women, and anyone else who can't see the bigger picture
I never said that I value being in a sorority more then I value being a black woman. First off I came from a broken background, with holes in my shoes prior to entering college. The things that my sorority has taught me will always be apart of me period. That has nothing to do with me not upholding the value of being a black woman first and foremost. As Im only a few semesters away from receiving teaching credentials, I take my role model position serious. So whether it be other sorors being crazy, or reality women in general, I find it all pathetic and don't support any of it. So don't assume you know my position or anything relative to this whole ordeal for that manner. The girls you see on tv are nothing more then "divas" but they don't have anything to do with how many others carry themselves. And whether its sorority sisters or other reality its all trash period.
I hate that these people wanna take pride in being apart of a sorority BEFORE taking pride as a black woman and decide that THIS show needs to be banned. That baffles me.

I agree with both ladies. But the image that K. Michelle portrays contradicts her statement. Whether the letters are on your back or not, you still represent the organization. You get on tv acting a plum fool every week. Maybe you see yourself in those women. But like I said, I do agree that the show is unnecessary.

She is a contradiction. We know K. Michelle for two things, music and being ratchet. That's no disrespect her because I love it. However, she represents the Delta organization. How can she criticize these sorority sisters for doing the same thing that she has been doing on reality tv for the last few years. As I said, I agree with everything that K. Michelle stated. My FIRST problem with anyone that thinks like that. . .you are saying that it's okay for a sorority member to act out in public as long as she doesn't have her letters showing. . .and even worse (as a member of an organization that promotes SISTERHOOD, UPLIFT, SCHOLARSHIP, and COMMUNITY SERVICE) you shouldn't EVER be okay with ANY activities that put the BLACK COMMUNITY in a negative light.
There shouldn't be a time where public rachetness is okay. Entertainment of the downfall of the Black society shouldn't be seen as such. Every chance we get, we should be entertaining the uplift of our communities and black society as a whole.
I'm thoroughly embarrassed by the show because it demotes the organizations responsible for leading our youth into the leadership seat of tomorrow. But I'm even more embarrassed that the same ones fighting to get this show cut are the same ones that believe it's okay to accept rachetness in other forms.
Heck, at least one of these organizations have prohibited their members from wearing their letters if they are taking part in the protests for Michael Brown and Eric Garner, but that's another subject. Once again, the double-standards have got to stop.

Now it's a big deal because they use the name sorority sisters it's a problem. It should be a problem with all the reality shows that have women acting a fool. Boycott all of that mess, sororities aren't special or better.

I think you guys missed the point, yes k Michelle acts a fool and what not, but as stated in a previous comment k Michelle signed up to be on love hip hop atl/ny not sororitysisters. Michelle's show "My Life" aren't representations of any race or everyone that's in LOVE and/or involved with Hip-Hop. It featured INDIVIDUALS who represented themselves! The women who signed to do "Sorority Sisters" are representing their sororities and the show represents the entire Greek organization. Everything they do on that show will determine the way people view those sororities and that organization. K. Michelle is absolutely right.

I feel what the two women are saying. And just to add, we have to be cognizant of how we portray ourselves no matter what the title of the show is. And we represent our beliefs no matter where we are, or if we are in that setting or not. Wherever you are, you should represent excellence, intelligence, modesty, self-respect, etc., if those are your beliefs. You are far able to reach people more once they see you are consistent with your belief message no matter the arena that you are in. We ( and everyone) are just intelligent, smart, innovative, trendsetters, creative God's children....and with ALL of that we ought to strive to do better and show our generations and generations to come better...honoring those whose shoulders we stand on. God's love and blessings to all!

Also, no one is denying that there is drama in these sororities. My sister is a Delta and I know that there is crap that occurs when you bring together a group of individuals to carry out a mission. But that happens in every organization whether its your Job, church, your own blood family, etc. This is a sisterhood meaning its a family. Just like you wouldn't want your sibling going on national TRASH television (because that all the VH1 platform is) telling people that your mom had all her kids from different dudes, these sorority women don't like the idea of having these unselected few women going on trash "REALITY" television airing their family's dirty laundry. It is tacky and I hope their memberships are taken away. They do not deserve to be apart of that sisterhood because they obviously don't respect the sanctity of it.

This is why I love K.Michelle. She is so real and honest with her opinion. As black women, we are always at the bottom of the totem pole and I didn't hear of this show until I got college fall of 2015. I thought the show was about the predominantly white sororities until I saw it was all black women. I'm in college now and as a young lady I don't want to see something that is supposed to uplift black women turned to complete garbage. Save the drama for you mama and keep the pettiness in your home. Black women we are so much more than fighting, and yelling and hollering.

I'm not a soror but my daddy is a sigma and I have family that are in frats and sororities. I don't agree with any kind of show making black women or people looking a mess. Why did it take touching a sorority to say Oh No that's disrespectful to black women as a whole. When it misrepresents is as black women period. I don't watch love and hip hop or basketball wives because all they do is fight and degraded one another. You can't contradict yourself. Any show they put on national tv that degrades us as a whole is wrong.
The Sororities HAVE spoken out against the other rachetness....and this show was about to air earlier, and Sororities went hard.....but people did not put the remote down....and Scoot and VH1 could care less cause you like being slaves...boycott their sponsors...it's on..

My feelings are mixed on this. I come from a family full of Greeks and even though I agree with K. Michelle to an extent, we must consider the source. She doesn't act a fool while donning the Delta brand & she has refrained from using her Delta membership to promote her foolishness, but she's a member of Delta Sigma Theta 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'm not Greek, so I try not keep my opinions to myself.........but I still have common sense......... and I would assume that one's sorority/fraternity isn't like a light bulb that you can turn on and off with the flip of a switch & only use at your convenience. You represent your organization in all that you do, so it's wise to carry yourself in manner that is becoming of Delta in every facet of your life. That's why it looks hypocritical coming from K. Michelle. Now, if this message was coming from a Delta like Sheryl Lee Ralph (someone who has always exuded class), it wouldn't be as hard for people to digest.

What sorority sisters did was show the different personalities in sororities. Not every sorority sister is classy as people perceive.. They fight in real life behind closed doors, I'm sure like real sisters. It's not always kum ba yah in sororities as they want to portray. These other reality shows that represent black people is what people fail to go against. These sorority leads must be worried their secrets are going to be exposed. NAPPY LIFE in LA I grew up with Deltas kappas and AKA the party sene was indoors and undercover! You had to know someone who knew someone to get invited! Our black ancestors started these Black organizations for a purpose of black connections NOT Ratchetness and disrespecting being black and positive

I just find this interesting comments coming from K. Michelle. Everybody knows she is a Delta and she has not portrayed herself in the best of light on her reality shows. Just cause she doesn't have her letters on, there is a standard of behavior that she should hold herself to at all times. That’s one thing that always annoyed me about Greeks, they are one way behind closed doors but wanna say what’s not ok and unladylike and their behavior is the worst. I couldn’t do all that fake stuff. Too much secrecy and hypocrisy.

Every decision a person makes is not a representation of their organization nor should it be. When K. Michelle gets on TV and acts up, it reflects on herself, not DST. These women on the SS show are blatantly stating that they are repping these organizations but their behavior contradicts what these groups stand for. That is why people are upset.
When other people on these ratchet ass shows act up, they ARE NOT repping the Black women/race, as others try to reach and say. These shows aren't called "The Black Women Show" or "Black People TV". I don't look at a show with black people on it and think "Hey, they're representing me!" just because they're black and so am I. White women act trashy as hell on their reality shows, too. Is that a reflection of all white people? No. It's a reflection of whoever is on the screen. Stop trying to reach & make EVERYTHING about race. I disagree because many have complained about these other shows being a disgrace on blacks and/or women. People have been saying how trashy these shows are but never done anything about it. When it hits these sorors, NOW people have the courage or the voice to stand up and boycott or get the show banned? Where were u before? Where was the pride then? Why couldn't you get these previous shows banned BEFORE it even got to this point? Where was all that power??? So to me, they're being the hypocrites because it didn't even have to get this far in reality tv. And I've watched the show and quite frankly, it's boring. For those who like ratchet tv, it's not ratchet enough if u ask me. So I don't care either which way this show goes. But after this show goes, it's back to its regular ratchet shows and the sorors will be watching with popcorn like the rest of us. Tuh.
***** I seen the dialogue the ladies did on vh1 and one of them stated (which was shade toward K. Michelle) that "celebrities will act a fool not representing their sorority. So do they respect the sorority more than they respect themselves?" I thought that was a great point. Because K. Michelle has fought, cussed, and then some. I honestly don't see this show as ratchet as others. People have made their opinion before the show even aired. And the ladies have been receiving death threats from sorors and fraternities. Now how is that brotherly or sisterly like? Lol. These ppl have way too much time on their hands and they need to refocus that energy on bigger world issues.

I'm lost because I actually like the show, and I actually don't know one wholesome AKA, Delta, SgRho, or Zeta and I know plenty of Greeks. The reason most of the greeks of the D9 are boycotting is because they are actually embarrassed that this show is showing the truth of how they really act, in comparison to upholding the legacy of their founders. Most greek girls and guys I know, act just like the stereotypes that are held against each sorority or fraternity. Sorry, but greeks are predictable and only want the show gone to withhold their legacy, but 90% will continue to support other "ratchet" degrading shows like LHH or Housewives of Atlanta....SMH #byefelicia
As an Alpha, I feel for all the ladies out there (AKAs, Deltas, Zetas, and SGRhos) who are being misrepresented by these individuals on this show. At least with School Daze and Stomp The Yard the fraternities were fictional.....

I'm not apart of any Greek org but maybe just maybe the pledging system should go a little deeper into the character of a person first before they're able to be welcomed in that way you won't have these problems. These women including K obviously are they way they are in real life but yet they still were able to become apart of their orgs. From the outside looking in to me it seems the Greek Life is saying that it's ok to not be classy or carry yourself like a lady just don't do it for everybody to see because " we have a image to uphold ". Why not just weed these type of women out to begin with?

She didn't embarrass me as Delta. She didn't go into VH1 alluding to the fact that she was greek at all. I later found that out through due diligence. These women are acting a fool on behalf of their respected org, which is not okay. If this show was displaying the many multitudes of the respected sorors life from personal issues, to community service endeavors, I think the show would have been received well. But it's just another show of women being catty.

Oh man! You people are killing me. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with K. Michelle. These women are on REALITY TV telling the world that this is life as a member of these BGLO. False. Their reality is not the reality of all of the sisters so what makes them think it is appropriate to be a representation of a century+ old organization that prides themselves on sanctity of their sisterhood? Yes, K. Michelle is a woman who may cause a scene here and there but it has NEVER been in the name of Delta. She is, first, an individual who makes individual decisions and she has respect enough for her organization to not go out in public doing these things while OO-OOPing and wearing DST on her chest just like I'm sure you Christians aren't twerking in the club with your bible in one hand and a drink in the other. They have attempted EXPLOIT their organizations for a dollar. Their stories are interesting enough to stand alone and create a highly rated show so they use this elite organization to do so. SAD. Again, this show is suppose to portray the REALITY of being a sorority sister in these organizations but they are misrepresenting it because it is IMPOSSIBLE to portray the reality of hundreds of thousands of women. They got no permission from nationals so it can be approved or denied. They were wrong and I am happy the show has been cancelled.
For many of the people commenting negatively on "Greeks"... yall have no clue. If you don't understand something just leave it at that. Its not necessary to make some of the negative opinionated comments. Read the history then tell me what "cult like group" Greeks are desperate to be a part of.

Everyone is talking as if these women aren't human. K Michelle's actions have always been consistent because it's her personality. Y'all act like everyone apart of the Greek life is perfect and little angels and if they didn't act "ratchet" or have drama on the show then no one would watch it and say it's boring period. So really regardless on what ppl feel it's seems as if it's a lose either way.
I'm sorry but this is bull. You don't like the fact that there's a show that negatively portrays a black greek sorority, in the name of "those that came before you", blah blah blah, but yet you can still have a show and act a fool while disgracing the legacy of hard-working, sacrificing black women of the past. It actually does. K Michelle DID NOT go into Love and Hip Hop as "The Delta K. Michelle." Nobody knew K. Michelle was Delta up until recently where she was strolling. Like she stated, everybody is not perfect. You're going to have your bad apples in EVERY organization, however do not go on TV acting a fool but "oo-oooping" and "skee-weeing" while calling somebody a b*tch.
Jaquis Perez She did not have to have "The Delta" in front of her name to change the fact that she is contributing to the negative stereotype of young, black women with her personal behavior. I understand not wanting to taint the name of the greek brotherhood/sisterhood, but she really should not comment given her behavior in general that she portrays on national tv.

The name of the show is SORORITY SISTERS... so this is why everyone is upset.. The only reason why they was on the show was because they are in a Sorority .... So I can understand the backlash..
VH1 could not put the show on if the soros did not participate. So, the Greeks should not be OUTRAGED at VH1. The GREEKS should be OUTRAGED at the soros participating in the show.
