  • In this video I try to tackle the weeds in my irrigated pasture by mowing them down! This will give the pasture several benefits that I discuss in the video not to mention the fact it makes grazing better for our beef cows.

All in a days work as farmer/rancher, unhook then hook up the next implement. Please show us the regrowth before the cows return for grazing in 2 weeks. 👍👍👍💪💪💪

Brought back memories of when I used to sit on the wheel fender of a big Case tractor with a 21 foot batting mower hooked to it while my boyfriend would mow the pastures in the evening at a horse breeding farm we worked on

Thanks for the explanation on the weed wiper !! However, I am glad that you mowed the field as it looks really good…and, there is that dried weed that the cows can eat. Tyler you really did a great job with the drone and close up camera shots…wow, driving the tractor, the drone and playing the guitar, man of many talents. Thank you for sharing those talents with us.

That feeling you get when the side links, slide on the three point hookups, and you drop the pin in:) I should have done more pasture clipping this year. Still on the list before I spread manure. Thanks for taking us along bud!

Interesting video, Tyler. My dad used to have a small holding here in South Africa. Something like 5 acres in which he had 2 cows, about 15 sheep and sometimes 2 or more pigs (hogs). He had about 1/4 of the land under vegetables. Very proud of that and we as children was his workers. It felt like the land of milk and honey. We always had milk, cream, butter, meat and vegetables. I loved that and always thought that it would stay in the family but he had to move to dryer climate due to health so he sold that place. That was a very heartsore day for us but he taught us to always be proud of what we do.

    • @ManieVerster
      @ManieVerster 2 роки тому

The most heartsore thing is when we went backup one day to see the place it was run down and the weed was taking over. One thing I forgot to say is my father buil the house up from a broken old house to what was something fantastic. We had many family gatherings there.

I mow my pasture once in June to generate mulch to protect it through the hot months of July and August, and to knock down old-growth grass and weeds the cows don't particularly like.

Hadn’t heard of a weed wiper, so thanks for the heads up. Like you, we tend to just mow our pasture when the undesirables threaten to take over the field. The one exception is thistle. We try to use a shovel to remove them. Another great video, and a Thursday bonus too!😎✌️

You are soooo blessed to have several months left of grazing..... as a fellow far NorCal ranch owner, there are a lot of other folks not as blessed and I feel for them deeply. I received the dreaded letter from the state water board few days ago about “curtailing” all irrigation or receive 1k dollar a day fines. Luckily for us we use our irrigation water for human consumption as well as our power source since our ranch off grid so we are luckily exempt. We dodged a major bullet. This state is making it harder and harder to keep ranch’s sustainable.
God bless you and your family as well as all of our armed forces currently fighting and protecting all of our freedoms.

    Thanks, you answered my question.
This is the 1st year not cutting Hay of my small acreage, I'm always last on their list which makes for poor hay.
Just bought a new tractor w 6ft Brush hog, didn't know if cutting the tall stuff was a waste. ...now I'll cut it.
Your logic I've thought, the good stuff is the lower grass.
btw, I tipped last years hay guy $200, due to pasture is Ruffin bumpy.
    ...he declined this year.

Really enjoyed the guitar playing that accompanied the mowing down of the weeds in the pasture. Nice camera angles and drone shots too. Two videos this week! You have been busy editing! You have quite a variety of farm implements! It is very interesting to see how they are hooked up and how they work. One man can accomplish a lot with a tractor and good equipment! Stay well and safe, all the best to you and your family from Canada!

My great grandfather always cut weeds by the moon. He always cut by the down side of the moon which mint after the full moon. That was nearly 100 yrs ago he would cut his hair the same way. It does work I’ve tried it. I haven’t tried it with my hair though

Is there a robo cutter (?) with a height adjustment that can learn your field to save you from using your tractor and you can go on to other important projects? Seems like there should be a way to automate simply cutting your field.

Do I know the joys of brush mowers that that one you got there, this year i have made 800 small square (60lbs) bales and 50 4' round bales. The only mowers that I got are two 6' brush mowers because of my ground type conventional rotatory cutters and even sickle bar hay-bines won't work because of how rough my ground was. Finally after 4 year I think its smooth enough for a hay-bine so my nabor gave me one now im going to spend my winter getting her working for next year
