Born on November 8, 1935, Anwar Masood (انورمسعود) is a poet from Pakistan renowned for his humorous poems. He does, however, also work in other genres. In addition to Persian, he writes in Urdu and Punjabi.
The distinctive way he employs conventional phrases and language in his poetry makes it easily approachable to the majority of people in the area.
Urdu, Persian, and Punjabi poet Anwar Masood is also a popular comic poet in Pakistan.
He began his career as an instructor at Kunjah, Punjab's Government Islamia High School, and he retired in 1968.
1961 saw him graduate from Punjab University's Oriental College with a master's degree.
At Punjab University in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, he won the gold medal in the MA Persian program.
He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 1999 and
Award in Mushaira zinda dilan, Dubai.
Masood is a multilingual poet of Urdu Persian and Punjabi. His poetry gives the message of the original and pure culture of Pakistan. Masood is a unique poet who is popular among the masses. The way he has described the different aspects of life and culture in his poetry has never been described before.[3] Some of his poems are so popular that wherever he goes in the world, people like to listen to them again and again. Some of his famous poems are Anar Kali Diyan Shanan, Aj Kee Pakaeay, Banyan, Juma Bazaar, Jehlum Dey Pul Tey, Hun Ki Karye, Mela Akhian Da, Ambri, and many others. Anwar Masood has performed and given live recitations of his poetry among many international communities and is popular worldwide.
A poem reviewer once said about him, "He is a poet that has the rare gift of being able to take a very serious subject and make it light and entertaining". He is a great command of covering all aspects of the topic or subject. اللہ تعالی نے ہر کسی کو مختلف ذہنیت دی ہے بابا جی برا کام نہیں کر رہے یہ بھی اپنے حصے کا کام کر رہے ہیں جو میں نے ان کی شاعری کو سنا ہے اور سمجھا ہے وہ مخلوق خدا کو اس زمانہ میں پریشان ہیں اور ان کے لبوں پر مسکراہٹ لاتے ہیں ایسے بہت اچھا انسان ہیں میں نے کبھی ان کی کوئی غلط قسم کی شاعری سنتے نہیں سنی غلط تبصرے کرنے سے گریز کیا کر رہے ہیں اپ نے ان کا دل چیر کے تو نہیں دیکھا ان کے دل میں کیا ہے ہر کسی کا اپنے رب کے ساتھ ایک تعلق ہوتا ہے ان کا بھی ہوگا یقینا

انور مسعود اور انور مقصود میں ایک واضح فرق ہے۔ انور مسعود نظم پڑھنے کے بعد خود ہی کھل کھلا کر ہنس پڑھتے ہیں۔ جو خود ہی اپنے أپ کو بے جا داد دینا لگتا ہےاور عامیانہ پن لگتا ہے۔ معزرت کے ساتھ۔۔ جبکہ یہ سامعین کا کام ہے۔ دوسرے طرف انور مسعود سنجیدہ رہتے ہیں۔ اور اپنے جملوں سے گدگدی کر کے سامعین کو قہقے لگانے پر مجبور کر دیتے ہیں۔
