  • Billionaire investors want to build a new 55,000-acre city in Solano County, California. Named “California Forever,” this development would worsen the climate crisis, harm existing communities and threaten approximately 130 rare animal and plant species, including California tiger salamanders, vernal pool fairy shrimp and Delta smelt.
The Center for Biological Diversity believes Solano County is worth fighting for, so we are pushing back against this disastrous project.
In this webinar, staff from the Center’s Urban Wildlands program describe the harms this potential development poses to local wildlife, nearby residents, groundwater supply, air quality and California’s commitment to fighting the climate crisis. We’ll talk about how we’re advocating for smarter land-use policies that prioritize community and environmental health.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a 501c3 nonprofit headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. At the Center, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature - to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that species need to survive.
We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.

My boyfriend is in Cape Coral in Florida and that is one community that does work to protect the burrowing owls, thank God. They are adorable and make me smile so big every time I see them.

Thank you for tracking this potentially devastating development and being involved, along with Solano Together and the many other groups trying to understand this proposal and its potential harm.

a whole generation of young people are currently priced out of buying their own place in solano county. anyone against building more homes is selfish. building a whole city of homes is exactly what this area needs.
