Thanks Zannon, a well balanced perspective of the good and challenging aspects of life at Moora Moora Coop. Maybe you'd like to try out living here for awhile?
Very interesting. As a 27 year old ive been very curious about this type of living. I've lived in many communal scenarios like hostels and share houses and have always loved it so much. I've spoken about the idea of a commune even with friends who also think it would be a good idea.
Very similar situation at Crystal Waters on the Sunshine Coast that’s been going for ages too… I used to stay there in the visitor camping area bunkhouse as a city getaway and wanted to move in, but the people who initially bought their blocks for maybe $15,000 back in the day are now older and selling their houses for crazy prices and the community gardens, store shut down and it ended up just losing that vibrant, family friendly co-operative vibe…
I don’t know how this got suggested to me I was that 19 year-old kid talking on the couch with you. Well done to the video. Wish you well.🙏 Edited* your channel looks cool you got that successful approach.
I get why they have such an involved process to get people in there and make sure they are community focused etc but $20k then another $200k plus is still a fair bit especially when ppl struggle to save any money these days. We'd happily buy a 25-30ft caravan, fit it out for permanent living etc but I know we can do that without the upfront payments and stringent requirements. That women is absolutely right towards the end. We care-take properties for a living but would totally move here as it perfectly aligns with our way of life
I grew up off grid, knowing everyone. It was good to move to the city. This kind of lifestyle is romanticised by some city folk - i had various friends that would tell me about it, like it was some kind of superior living when tbey didn't really have a clue what tbey were doing All tbe communal type groups I've known spend so much time deciding things- my style is to just get in with doing it myself.
He must have a nice house. We built in Melbourne 12 years ago, 30 sqm house, 4 bed, specked it up a bit, cost us 220k. I couldn’t stand community living. I couldn’t think of anything worse than sharing with 10 ppl.
Cool looking place. I would be interested to learn how the land has been sub-divided, or if it even needed to be? I have always wanted to be a part of something like this.
But MY neg thoughts are its a gated community for retired old settled People, who have fled,......well to a gated community, if you were a young family , how would you get to work and school?
When they first started this up they were probably young too. Maybe their grown up kids are also living there now too. I’ve seen some affordable large parcels in country Victoria. You would need to advertise for a bunch of people to do this with you. Normally there are country towns nearby with schools. Yes work would be hard, unless you could start working towards a work from home type job.
@@rubyredjeans Yep life is complicated, but the one thing I learnt is that I had no self-awareness and communication skills until the mid-50s Self-education (not certificates) is what everyone who wants to live better, can be done when living in a car , camp or after work in a 9-5 job, oops rambling again, love your music vids, stay well, cheers
I had similar feelings and I think it stems from a feeling that the original inhabitants, keen to maintain some ideology from the past, reduce ones freedom UNLESS you happen to agree with their ideology. There is no growth, no development and therefore this community is stagnating and will fade away over the few decades - like many others such communities. “The more you try to hold sand with your hand, the more it slips through your fingers.” Hopefully I am wrong. - We definitely need an alternative, human centred version of living.

That's sad to hear. Crystal Waters was one of the first.
In the end, the love of money gets almost everyone.

The village looks really nice.
Relaxing and well filmed video, thank you ❤

Yes, it’s ended up a bit elitest.
Community living isn’t for everyone, nor is suburban living ❤

The rock circle is called a Labyrinth
I wouldn’t mind it at all 😅

It's a 10 min drive to Healesville and an hour or so to Melbourne... Could be worse...
@@TheAcousticWarfare yep , for sure , cheers mate
Hi what mic are you using?
it's the dji mic 2
with the low-cut filter turned off. out the box it's on, which is weird.
This but with tiny houses, 200 g locks out too many people
Each to their own. I couldn’t think of anything worse. My eyes rolled many times watching this

No one wants to live off grid when you have to do this? You have to do that? It sounds way too structured for relaxed off grid living.
What a nightmare being a child born into that environment 😱
Worse for a child to be born around a negative influence like yourself.
Why would you think that?
Boomers telling people how to live
tell people how they love
live
