      Even the lower courts should not necessarily be televised on CourtTV or HLN... When we watch something on television we are expected to "armchair quaterback" the courts decisions and we don't all possess that level of understanding of the law. Trial by media is the wicked step-sister of justice. No thoughtful wisdom comes from the prurient expectations of TV media.

      I think it is true: ordinary people do not speak to each other as often as they used to, so this explains the polarization in the US institutions. By speaking and listening to each other, people can have empathy with each other.

    "Just ASK!"... "¡Solo PREGUNTA!" What a profound instruction to follow towards being more inquisitive about what we don't understand, avoiding senseless judgements and fostering more constructive relationships in such a diverse world. So much technology for sending out our own perspective and such little openness/reflection to better understand the points of view and concerns of others. Justice Sotomayor is one of the better justices. What kind of institution doesn't allow questions about the institution or it's members? Is it part of the United States government? It's high time to reform the supreme court. Term limits, more justices and way more transparency.

    • @cynthiakozikowski1765
      @cynthiakozikowski1765 3 роки тому +5

      I agree. Nowhere in the Constitution, does it say only 9 justices. History has shown us that the Court has had more than 9.

    • @ladydara7446
      @ladydara7446 3 роки тому +3

      What would term limits achieve? More justices would help if their case load is too heavy. But if your guy can stack the court, so can the next guy.

    One of the most informative UA-cam clips I have watched and listened to with utmost attention. Judge Sotomayor KNOWS what's happening and her explanations are so very clear and instructional for lay people. I will definitely buy both the books for my youngest (teen-age) daughter. Great performance TREVOR. It was very obvious that you were also being illuminated by what Judge Sotomayor was responding. I DID NOT KNOW that the Senate video clips have lately been being conducted with the Senator speaking to the camera, without others physically present. That is NOT conducive to having great parliamentary discussions. TV should be out of the Senate chamber.
