Who Were the HORRIFYING Creatures that ATE Ewoks? - Star Wars Explained

- Despite it’s lush forests and towering tree lines, the Forest Moon of Endor was actually a terrifying place to be when its star set... especially when you were as Tiny as an Ewok. Threats ranged from shadowy witches to giant forest monsters and even included a horrifying species which would hunt down and eat Ewoks.

The Gorax were a species of horrifying creatures classified as “Behemoths” by most Galactic Journals. They were found primarily on Endor but weren’t native to the planet according to most of the Galaxy’s top scientists. These creepy beasts could grow up to sizes nearly 30 meters because of unique pull of the planet Endor’s gravity on its moons.
Although they were humanoid in shape, the Gorax were covered in thick fur and had protruding lower jaws with very thick brows. Some Gorax even had hoof-like feet, with others having ghastly toes which pointed backwards. Even though these creatures would eat plants, meat and scavenged foods, their teeth were very well adapted to eating meat. Specifically the meat of the small Ewoks who roamed the forests of Endor.

It makes sense that Ewoks are kind of brutal when you need to protect yourself from this thing.
The Ewoks had few defenses against Goraks. One of those defenses was a swinging log trap called the TekSwee. To set a TekSwee up, Ewoks would attach two logs to separate trees on either side of a forest trail using ropes. When the ropes were cut at the same time, the logs would swing down and crash into each other, splintering a Gorak’s skull. These traps are what we see in Return of the Jedi during the battle of Endor, where they proved to be surprisingly effective against Imperial AT ST walkers.
We need a horror movie with storm troopers being there at night and have the ewokes kill and eat the storm troopers alive with maybe even this creature coming in and the storm troopers watching in the distance as this creature attacks the ewokes homes and eating them.
Imagine ewok hunt but its these guys. I had an idea for a star wars game a while back. Basically Ewok Hunt + the game Evolve. One team plays as hunters one plays as either 1 creature or a team of creatures from Star Wars. There'd be the Evolve type game mode where you have say stormtroopers hunting an escaped rancor, sand people hunting a lesser krait dragon, ewoks hunting these guys. Then you would have the team version, ewoks vs stormtroopers, trandoshians vs wookies, wompas vs rebels etc. I think a game based around the creatures of star wars would be awesome. Hell even a game where you play as a Trandoshian and its basically Star Wars monster hunter

Well, don’t watch "Caravan of Courage" then, haha. AKA The Ewok adventure movie. The Gorax is like, the main villain in that movie if you don’t know. Kidnaps these kids’ parents and keeps them in a giant birdcage, after they crash-land their starcruiser on the forest moon. But the Gorax not even shown the entire time.. it’s mostly Ewoks doing funny stuff, pulling stupid pranks and fighting one another, and also being protective, caring for the human kids, and fighting scary animals. Lol. It’s actually pretty good considering the 80s…and made for tv…

So, even though they’re very primal and instinctual, and highly predatory, with no true language besides roaring and bellowing… here’s some food for thought for those galactic scientists.
1. The Gorax in the movie has an earring, no. A piercing. Jewelry! Conscious bodily adornment, and through modification, no less. Not for any survival adaptation or benefit, but earrings are purely vanity, in most cases. Is this Gorax bod mod? Seems like self-awareness on a major scale… very few animals knowingly do vanity-based stuff like that, unless it’s like, apes using “hats” of palm leaves in the sun.
2. In the Ewok movie, the Gorax has a fire pit going in its cave, I think… so they made fire. Unless they forced their prisoners to do it, but that’s a pretty massive fire. The Ewoks and humans were about the size of the Gorax’s index finger. Lol.. also I believe it chows down on some giant animal thigh or meat that was cooking, too. So it had knowledge enough to make fire and cook meat over it.
3. The birdcages that the humans & Ewoks were imprisoned in. Handmade from wood! Advanced! And served a purpose, to contain future slaves and/or meals.
4. The cave it lived in was obviously constructed inside at some point, with a giant stone staircase, and the massive, five-story high chairs and table it sits at… they had some knowledge of woodworking or masonry.
Poor ewoks 😢
I love Ewoks they are like giant living teddy bears 🧸 that is a lot lot better then some of the other creatures in Star Wars
