that front zipper works great - I have the same one - it works by threading the end of the zipper pull through the tab first and then pull down - that way it is harder for a thief to quickly get into your bag. And the shoulder strap that unlocks and locks from the bottom of the bag is designed to be wrapped around a chair/table/bed leg and then clipped back on to the backpack & lock. Then no one can take your bag.
Yes, I know that it goes through the tab and it should hang down, but if the thief knows how those bags work it seems too easy to get the zipper open anyway. It seems harder to open on another pacsafe bag I have, but thanks for sharing your description will help others understand the bag.
The strap disconnects so you can wrap the strap around a chair at a restaurant so no one can grab it and run.
Put the front of the zipper completely through the loop, (so the zipper hangs down the bag) not the way you had it.
Some people put a small lock or carabiner on the front tab once it’s pulled through the loop.
Yes, I use a small carabiner, quick and easy for me to take off but would notice someone trying to get in

This is so relaxing love the zipper sounds
