the REAL & UNGLAMOROUS life of a FLIGHT ATTENDANT: FAA outage, getting turned & a rough week

- Hi friends! Oooh this was a tough week. I really didn't want to vlog this trip at first because it seemed so...boring. I didn't do anything on this layover but then I realized how important it is to showcase the rough weeks of being a flight attendant too. Sometimes, things happen that are out of your control and sometimes you just have to roll with the punches & make the most out of it. Honestly, I didn't love this week on reserve but I love my job and wouldn't trade it for anything - even if means working through weeks like this. I hope you enjoyed this vlog!

How long were u on reserve ? And would you recommend me joining if I want to go to Newark base?
I was on reserve for about 4.5 years 😅😪 but that was a bit exceptional because of COVID & some bad luck. I started out in EWR! I loved it. It's an awesome base with the best flying in the system.
Do you and your colleagues have any tricks for dealing with the sleep interruptions?
I don't honestly! It can be difficult staying asleep for me. I know some travel with white noise machines though!
Do you get paid to "standby" or only if you get put on a flight?
We do get paid on standby! My airline has a minimum of 5 hours of pay per duty day/standby. If you get a trip from standby, you get the value of the trip + half of what you sat on standby.
Did really finish my thought sorry!!! Anyway was just saying I’ve been over a year at mainline dl but love and hate it because of commuting!!! Any tips or thoughts? I know you do it too.
Ahhh I totally feel your pain! I really don't like commuting. It takes so much time and adds so much extra stress. My goal is to move to a base OR get into the tiny phx base my airline has eventually. I would say, if you love the job but hate commuting & know you're going to live in your city forever, apply for an airline that has a base in that city! (I've had friends leave to DL because they wanted to be based in ATL or SEA. Or friends that have come to UA because they wanted to be based in IAH, etc...)
Seniority is obviously important but so is your quality of life. I would choose quality of life every time!
Why is friends always playing on hotel tvs. Was just in NY couple weeks and friends was playing the whole time on the tv.
Hahaha friends IS ALWAYS on! 😂
Hi how are you today?
Doing great! How are you?
Great vlog! Is it worth it to be an FA at mainline I’ve been 1yr 4 months
I think my hardest part is not living in a base but I can’t because my hubby has to be in Dc
Do you have a crack pad in san Francisco
I am not living in a crashpad. I rent a shared room in a house!
