    Saw them at an event and have been obsessed since I was 5. Memorized all the lyrics and feelings. It’s been almost 30 years and I am still entranced. I met them all and they were lovely and kind. Great memories all around.

    Never let the spirit die. To do so, would kill us all. Much Love to all the nations! Teach the children our traditions! This comes from a man of Shoshone ancestry who didn't know it. My grandfather never told me of his blood, but, when he passed, i was told. I think I knew this, instinctively. I always felt it. A passion for the songs and drums. Seriously, I'm teaching my cousins and my niece about the amazing heritage we share.

    This is a beautiful series of songs. I saw the movie smoke signals some years ago, loved the combination of the poem how do we forgive our fathers and wah jhi le yim and stumbled upon ulali's album. I do not see how you could dislike this or I do, but I would prefer just to revel in the fact that I love it. I wish I could find the ulali album version of Makh jchi on you tube.

    Hello. I appreciate your comment, but I have seen them live and this is the speed they perform the song. There are several change ups in the song, so if you didn't listen to the entire song, you may have missed some of the tempos. Pura Fe was in the group at this time. I'd suggest you take it up with one of the singers. I am glad you stopped to listen and also that you took the time to comment. My best to you, Moppet

    Reminds me of what the Scots call Mouth Music.
    When the English banned the playing of bagpipes, calling it an instrument of war, the Scots would pass down the traditional pipe tunes by singing them.

    • @charmeyn2
      @charmeyn2 5 років тому +3

      The Scots share a lot in common with indigenous people of North America, they had clans, stories and songs passed down...... and their languages nearly wiped out and forced from their lands ,the English were only trying to do what Rome failed at

      Indigenous always get attacked. I'm Celtic and Lakota.....and everything else but the kitchen sink.....I mostly just try to be a good person. The honest, loving kindhearted are my true tribe and family. For us it's primal, you could say. I'm a true mother....not a perfect one.....thank the Creator grandmother and grandfather for that. (They say to remind everyone they weren't perfect either. .. we're here to celebrate the Love and HEALING that life and evolution is all about).....
      Fear is the opposite of Creation....LOVE💖
      💰IS FEAR BASED TO GET YOU TO ENSLAVE YOURSELF TO PERVERTS WHILE THEY TRY TO KILL YOU STOMPING ON YOUR EVERY DIVINE RIGHT
      AND STEALING YOUR CHILDREN TO SUSTAIN THEIR MADNESS.
      NO MORE. THEY HAVE REFUSED THE CALL OF LOVE AND HEALING AND THEY ONLY CONTINUE TO TRY TO PERPETUATE THEIR PERVERSIONS INTO ETERNITY. THEY CAN'T.
      THEY KNOW IT NOW.
      HEY HOKAH HOKAH ✌️😑🚬

      Tribes used to protect the money at SACRED among them.
      The CHILDREN especially.
      We're going back to those days. Pedophiles and their minions will NOT be tolerated in ANY WAY. THEY refused to heal.
      They have chosen EXTINCTION.
      Good riddance to baaaad rubbish.

      In the Disarming Act of 1746 bagpipes weren't banned. This was covered by John Gibson in his book 'Traditional Gaelic Bagpiping 1745-1945'. What is called 'mouth music' is thought to have originated long before 1746, and used when instruments weren't available.

  • @christinecallanan8389
    @christinecallanan8389 3 роки тому

    This music has helped me reconnect with my ancestors when my native brothers and sisters said I wasn't "native looking enough" and treated me like crap.
    Not ALL, but unfortunately, MOST.
    I guess they became like their slave masters.
    No future in THAT.
    They must have forgotten.
    Many have chosen extinction for THEMSELVES. They can't take the sincerely loving kindhearted beings who tried to help with them. We have Divine Rights as sincerely loving kindhearted beings and we have been loyal to our TRUE CREATOR, LOVE.
    If you give no sincere Love, you shouldn't expect it. Nothing's unconditional when you put conditions on it yourself. Using sincerely loving kindhearted beings in ANY way is a Big Time NO-NO.
    (Our ancestors are here BTW. They're not especially happy to see the mess here. They're helping us with clean up🧹🤗💖)

    Thanks MyMoppet52 for posting one of my all time fav songs from Ulali. I wish I could have seen them in concert back when they were touring. I picked up Mahk Jchi as the very last pow-wow held by the Lenni Lenape (Delaware) in Philadelphia around the time this was released. I was so sad that city was no longer allowing the pow wows. A great loss to the community and a sad day for Lenape. Every time I listen to Ulali or Pura Fe's blues music it takes me back to those days.

    • @MyMoppet52
      @MyMoppet52  9 років тому

      Lizzie Walker I'm so glad you found this. I am sorry about the loss of the Pow Wow in Delaware. I was so lucky. I read they were in a Festival close by here when Mahk Jchi was still on cassette tape. I got a friend to go. It was a city wide festival with stages set up all over. I camped at Ulali's stage/tent. They were incredible. They were basically unknown at the time & many older people got up and left. There were few in their tent. The gave me bottles of water between the sets, cracked jokes, & were so funny and gracious. They commented that they thought some of their audience looked a bit frigtened as they got up & left. They promised they wouldn't scalp anyone. I laughed at that & so did they. I have so many good memories from just that one afternoon. Thanks for listening and sharing your memories. I AM very sorry for the Lenni Lenape loss. My best to you, Moppet

    I LOVE them! In fact,I have to be careful not to judge others by the standards Ulali has.I've been upset for years that there are more "commercial" groups out there, trading on names, & I haven't posted. Those groups have good music too, but it's a pet peeve of mine. I think Ulali & Sweet Honey in the Rock have best harmonies ever.Thanks for commenting.If you type their name in on my Channel pg, in top rt "Search Channel",you'll get all my vids by them "Native American music"is tag, also, Moppet

    @whenjesusweeps You are very welcome. I want to promote them as much as I can. I think they are an incredible group which stays close to their roots and keep traditions. I respect that. Thank you so much for your comment. It is appreciated, Moppet

    Thank you. Yes, they should have millions of views. I think they are incredible and think they have tried to stay close to the "roots". My Channel doesn't get that many views, though. When this first went up, this song wasn't on. I try to add what is missing if I can. I am so glad u found this. If you like them, type their name on my Channel Page in top rt "Search Channel" & u can see all my videos of them. Also, "Native American" if you like this music. Getting ready to post more. Thank you, M.

    @clockle Thank you so much for commenting! Wish you'd seen this earlier.
    They're one of my favorite groups & I don't want to disrespect them. Checked my other videos. It's a typo on my part.(That's not an excuse though.) It was 1996 not 76. My tape has a different cover than what's on the internet & says 1996. The internet info says 1997. I'm sticking with my tape. Again, thank you. If you ever see any other incorrect info, please feel free to point it out! My best, Moppet (Barbara)

    There's some Israeli dude trying to get into my energy field.
    He's standing right outside of the fence around the smoking area about 5 feet from me.
    He's wearing a camo hoodie.

    What a wonderful, kind comment. Ulali is deserving of it! If you like their music, type their name in Search Channel on my Page & their songs will show up. If you type in Native American music, all my music of this genre should show up. I will send you some info on them in the near future. I've been ill for most of 2012 & am behind with my notes. Please drop me another note if I don't send you something. Their history is also on several sites if you Google it. My best to you, Moppet

    p.s. I did see where you have a lot of Native American music on your site. I don't know why the tempo seems "off" to you. You appear very knowledgeable about the music. I tag everything. If you go to my Channel Page to top rt area & type Native American in "Search Channel" area you can find some treasures. Genres, artists, cd's, songs, even instruments. Blues, bluegrass, folk, Celtic, Mountain music. I try to tag them all, so my Channel is easier to search. My best, Moppet

    The liars have had enough 'TIME".
    THEY refused love and to respect life...they love their PERVERSIONS more than life itself.
    Their thirst for DESTRUCTION is unquenchable and they refuse all healing.
    EXTINCTION in ALL ways is THEIR FATE.
    IT IS WHAT THEY WISHED FOR THOSE OF US LOYAL TO LOVE AND LIFE.
    As you "sow", so shall they "REAP".
    LET THEM REAP AWAY.
    🥶🚬

    A nice video, but these are eastern style rattle songs; Pura Fe' and Jennifer are Tuscarora women. It would have been beautiful to showcase their people and other eastern seaboard people who these songs come from. Plains folk are often deemed the physical standard of looking indigenous; for us natives on the east coast and woodlands we have a different look.

    I was just given royal gorilla to smoke.
    The gorilla at como zoo, tried to attack my youngest sister who came with me and my son when he was still a baby.
    Now I know why the gorilla tried to attack her through the glass. She has no respect for the rights of living beings or their tight to freedom and love.
    I'm going to smoke some marijuana I was told was called royal gorilla now, and pray for him and all whose rights were so horribly denied. They are free beings and deserve the freedom they always appreciated and never abused or used to harm others intentionally.
