I feel like there's no way Zim and Dib would have a stable relationship right off the bat, because they're two really damaged people and one of them is an alien, after all. They get there eventually ofc, but I explored their hardships through this :P

I don't ship ZaDR but I can't deny that the people that do are very talented. Though let's be clear, if anyone you're in a relationship with is treating you the way Zim is treating Dib here, you need to get the hell out. Find it cute in media all you want (I don't, but you do you), but absolutely don't tolerate someone doing this to you IRL. Don't stick around, don't try to "change" them, these aren't normal relationship difficulties, this is abuse and you need to get the hell away from this person and find someone who treats you right. No matter what you think, you deserve it.

I love this. Tbh I feel like that's how there relationship would be. Like they fight but they love each other a lot. It's back and forth probably would be this way for about a year.
Well ... This is just my personal opinion, but I don't like how their relationship is shown in this animatic. The video itself is absolutely priceless, the animation is great, everything is very beautiful and smooth. The problem is that their relationship is ... toxic ... And that scares me. I mean, Zim hurts Dib both physically and psychologically, but Dib can't get out of this relationship because he loves Zim and he feels sorry for this alien, and he just can't leave him alone, even when they quarrel. That's unhealthy

Reminds me of my boyfriend. I had so many times I said how bad I felt and that he wasn’t helping with the fact I don’t like physical contact much and he would get sad. He would send me these long texts that he felt I wasn’t trying to do more when I was pushing myself so much... he asked me to call him each morning so he could wake up for the bus when he didn’t even live that far away from our high school... I cried more times in that one year together than I had in 5 years. And this is almost perfect of how I felt. I wanted to leave, but he kept saying how he loved me and how I made him so happy.... he constantly said he would try, but then never tried to do better about my sensory deficiency, then got upset when I didn’t want contact.
I once even said how he made me feel and how it hurt to the point I had almost cut and he said that didn’t help how he felt. So I just said I was fine and after a minute he said okay and we never spoke of that again... it took one year of this for HIM to say that he felt it wasn’t working out and we should break up and I didn’t even really care at that point... and actually felt bad that I didn’t mind...

Also, if they were a couple in the show they most likely would not be as toxic as people assume. Because, if they were to get together, they would currently already have most likely confused and mixed emotions about the whole thing.
Most like along the lines of "I've realized I like him?? But aren't I supposed to hate him...?" And so it would certainly be rocky, and they would both have to learn.
But, personally, I feel as though its a learning process. One they can work through together, with each other. Because they are 'polar opposites' yet they're actually both pretty similar which are aspects I think they would cling to as they worked everything out.
Of course, they would have to learn communication. Something that takes a while, either with other people or the same person repeatedly. Its not that easy, but I can see them striving for it as 2 characters who refuse to give up.
I understand where everyone is coming from in the sense of "well they wouldn't get along, it would be toxic."
Alot of people marry the person they originally use to hate and stay married to that person because they love them. Those attributes that they believed to have hated for whatever reason over time become some of the goofy quirks that they love about that person.
Relationships that have ONLY ever felt love or happy feelings never last because eventually that grows old or slows down till it all boils over.
But relationships that go through hardships and rocky patches where there is learning, especially about one another, tend to last longer. Depending on the hardships. And that is something I think would happen with these 2.
