It's our 59th anniversary (June 26, 2024)

Wednesday was our 59th anniversary. Judy and I spent the day together in a most unusual way. Both of us feeling under the weather, we decided to take a morning drive to urgent care in Grass Valley. It was, in fact, a vacation where we did not have to do anything. We simply masked up as we entered the Dignity Health resort. Our stay started with nose swabs, blood pressure & oxygen tests, stethoscope readings, that lead us to another room to finalize us with chest x-rays.
After a relaxing three hours we were told: 1. No flu - good thing. 2. No Covid - also, good thing. 3. Possible start of pneumonia - not so good thing. Both hungry, we continued in the afternoon to a drive through at Walgreens to receive our gifts of antibiotics. From there we proceeded to the Asian Garden restaurant where we unmasked for egg flower soup, almond chicken, broccoli beef, sweet and sour shrimp, & a fortune cookie. Our daughter, Laura, joined us a far in the booth as the three of us enjoyed our meals.
We got home about 4:30 pm and had our after dinner cocktail of hot lemon water with honey. It was 103 degrees outside so we turned on the air conditioner and fans while we finished the evening with our two dogs Gracie & Buddy watching episodes of Dr. Jeff, Rocky Mountain Vet perform various surgeries on different animals. A little later we enjoyed Judy’s home made blueberry/coconut popsicles for our dessert.
God has been so good to our family by giving us some wisdom and lots of love. His Scriptures are full of both. In the last 5 years He has healed us both of horrific Cancer(s). We have read and truly believe in the first chapter of James which tells us to consider it all joy when we encounter various trails knowing that it helps us grow in perseverance. Knowing this truth continues to give us confidence again today, with some laughter, as we look forward to the end result of peace and contentment. So, we will continue to enjoy this trip together as we continue down the road of life.
