    If you upped the intensity of the light you might see a dull red glow. IR is invisible in most cases but in things such as pulsed lasers or looking a the dot from one you can actually see it through only up to around a certain wavelength. I've seen it before it just looks red but knowing what it is is pretty cool. I could link you to a few papers on the subject if you want though one you need to request.

      If could send me those papers i would be happy, i was about to be making a night vision goggles but its shitty if someone without them can see u, cause of the glow…

    Interesting video, thx. Will a surveillance camera with night vision pick up infrared emitted by an external source, such as a the lamp you built? My camera is inside, and when night vision is on, the ir leds reflect on the window, rendering it useless.

    • @furulevi
      @furulevi  2 роки тому +3

      Yes it will pick up because these are IR sensitive, and yes behind a window it is unfortunately pretty useless because of the reflection.

    One question. I saw a similar 12v 30 ir led illuminator. Could I simply connect it to a 12v dc power supply or would I have to add some resistors? If so, do you know which ones?

    Hi @furulevi , Thanks for the video. One question from a Noob. Would it be possible to use that as an IR Remote Blaster? Is there a way to send IR signals instead of just On or Off?

      @@antreaskonstantinou8585 yes I know that "trick" - doesnt work with iphones as far as I know since they have an IR filter.
      If im in the dark I can see some weak brownish color coming out of it. Did it with several remotes, so suppose they leak a bit of the visible light as well 😊

    se ven pocos vídeos mostrando la cámara en la oscuridad como emiten ese haz de luz roja (ir led) lo cual hace la cámara totalmente detectable y siendo fácil de inutilizar no entiendo porque no aplican leds IR de 940nm
    Para mi las cámaras en cuestión fallan en que no dispone de IRled de 940nm por lo que e la oscuridad la cámara será bastante llamativa y accesible (emite una serie de luces rojas) pudiéndola destrozar o robar o inutilizarla. Las cámaras deberían llevar un sistema de IRleds que en la oscuridad no se iluminasen en el mercado ya hay modelos que utilizan leds de 940nm los cuales no emiten ningún tipo de luz en la oscuridad y por tanto hace que las cámaras pasen mejor desapercibidas, es importante que dispongan de WDR, IRCUT, P2P, codec H.265 o H.265+, conexión POE, wifi , aspectos como sensor PIR, PTZ, son cuestiones a valorar y que mejoran bastante la seguridad
    y las prestaciones de la cámara. Dahua por ejemplo ya tiene unos modelos (DAHUA UIR) y HIKVISION creo que también en algunos modelos está implementando los leds de 940nm

    The advantage of infrared at 850 nm is that it is visible as a faint red glow to the human eye, which is not very practical for video surveillance, because a malicious person will quickly guess the presence of a camera.

    • @furulevi
      @furulevi  5 років тому

      Certain cameras are less sensitive to IR light, they are not all the same. I personally removed the IR lens from my SJ4000 camera, and if I use an IR flashlight that creates a good night vision setup that is invisible to others.

    Will it run on a nine volt battery

    • @Matt-dc8lp
      @Matt-dc8lp 4 роки тому

      Even if it would work at that voltage, at 200mA typical current draw for a light of this size it would last for less than 2hrs. Probably closer to 1 hour at that drain rate.

  • @tangodown4388
    @tangodown4388 4 роки тому

    How long will a 12v battery power the light?

    • @Matt-dc8lp
      @Matt-dc8lp 4 роки тому +2

      Depends on the battery. Drain rate is close to 200mA so a 40Ah capacity group 24 battery would run it for 200 hours or so.

    Isn't 940 dangerous to human eyes?

    • @Krzeszny95
      @Krzeszny95 3 роки тому +1

      Looking into a light for too long without realizing it's on can be dangerous. However, small LEDs aren't very powerful and you aren't normally staring directly into them at short distances. A powerful infrared floodlight could hurt your eyes but only the military uses them.

    People need to tell Google to f*** off and stop telling people to switch to Chrome. I don't like Chrome, it's a shitty browser. I like Internet Explorer where I can virtually change all the browser background to any color I like. With Chrome you get this bright white light that will destroy your eyes after a day stuck on a monitor. Try each day and see how you start to go and see an Optometrist. With Internet Explorer you can actually change the background of anything, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc., to the color of your choice, the color and size of Fonts, etc. I wish Google stopped telling people what to do with their lives. They are actually forcing to kill Microsoft, their IE browser, etc. and grab the sheep for themselves. I find Google quite offensive in my opinion. And the ads, oh these fkn ads, they're everywhere. Go back to IE and see you will watch a video without being bombarded by ads on gambling, cars, cars and more cars, dating agencies and scammers. One has to be really blind not to see what Google is doing to us all just to grab every penny out of your pocket. And I am sick of this pushy-pushy attitude with Google.
