- Do you want to understand the news in Spanish? In this class, you will learn Spanish vocabulary, phrases, stories, verbs, and adjectives related to crime and corruption in México and América Latina. With this vocabulary, you will be able to listen to the news and podcasts in Spanish and read newspaper and magazine articles. We will learn from the simplest to the most sophisticated words of crime, from "ratero", "asaltante", "delincuente", "mañoso", hasta "narcotraficante", "lavador de dinero", "peculado", "malversación", etc. You will also learn what bandidos are and some historical details about words like "ratero" that relates so much to the animal "rat". In our time, the words, phrases, sentences, verbs, and adjectives related to crime fills our newspapers, magazines, and our news feeds so learning this vocabulary is important because it will specifically help you understand any information that you come across in Spanish in everyday life.

Gracias, Ana.

Wow. I completely forgot that I was subscribed to you. I haven't been active in this account for a few years.
I used to watch all of your videos in 2018 when I was in 8th grade because I was obsessed with learning Spanish. Life came in the way and now I'm in college and too busy for other pursuits, but I still remember most of the vocabulary what I learnt from you years ago like numbers, days, months, etc. Muchas gracias, profesora. When I get free time in the future, I shall surely return to learn more from you.

Muchas gracias por este video.
The way you teach Spanish, the more I want to learn and watch more 😎
Gracias!! Numero uno!!
Oh come on, Ana! Watching the show Narcos was the single ****MOST**** educating thing I ever did for my Spanish. In fact, that was the only reason I even watched it: the series were recommended on every single linguistics forum by other learners of Spanish because not only do they have excellent drama and superb acting, but also because Netflix provides EXCELLENT, living-language subtutles in many languages, and you encounter many different Spanish accents that give you a sense of how a real-life, current Spanish is spoken in different parts of Latin America. It took me about 10 times as long to watch the series as if I were to watch them simply as entertainment because I would first write down every new word and expression in Spanish, then rewind, locate and write down its English translation, but as a result I have many, many pages of notes and an ear way more perceptive of different accents and manners of speaking than I would have had after years of academic learning of Spanish.
So, now I can competently bribe a local politico, arrange the removal of my competition, or order my lapdog cops ("narcs," as in, "narcotics cops" in English) to flush out un soplón amidst my ranks, all in Spanish :-)
Watch Mexican, Peruvian, Colombian and Spanish movies. Where possible watch Mexican TV on streaming channels.
Gracias, Ana!
I’ve been told the Spanish language has the best and most creative insults.
Excellent..
Excellent anna. Don't forget kidnapping. Just Watch out for sicarios, chica. I hope you don't disappear. My ex girlfriend was a ratera tambein

Love your dress
The word malhechor reminds me of the term wrongdoer in English.
Maleante, sinónimo de malhechor.
❤️
I love your dress, is beautiful.
I agree with you 💕, that these criminal acts are nothing to be proud of. I'll be honest, I wanted to know the translations of some of the words/ phrases in the (bad) News. My husband is from Peru and watches Exitosa daily. I find it incredibly sad. When I met him, he was indeed watching Narcos on Netflix and so was I. I seen it more like a documentary and did *not* want to be like that. My husband used to _want_ to be like Pablo Escobar, and I hated it. We've been together now for 5 years and I'm proud to say that he has changed. In the beginning he hated the corrupt politicians, but couldn't seen how the People of Peru were exactly the same. I'm still not sure he "gets it" completely, but he doesn't see Escobar as a "Role Model" like he used to. I don't hate the people, I hate the crime, but I feel sorry for the people because they're "ignorant" ie they don't know any better. It's sad that the people think they _have to_ commit crime to get money, that they don't know how to make an "honest living" (eg bodybuilders, personal trainers, coaches, personal assistants, support workers, care assistants, drivers, actors, chefs, bakers, electricians, joiners, builders, painters, artists, gardeners, skilled & non-skilled crafts, investing in sustainable innovations and other projects/ businesses etc instead of bodyguards/ "heavies"/ "lackies"/ "mules"/ "perros" in the criminal world. I thank the Lord that this *is* changing, but progress is slow. I'm a fan of Maluma, Shakira and J Balvin's music. I also like them for what they "give back" to Columbia. I'm so thankful the the People of Columbia *now* look up to and have *Musicians* as *Role Models* not Criminals like the narcos. In Peru things are a bit more complicated and slow. They have had an influx of Venezuelans and not all of them are bad people, but many do bad things _just to eat and survive._ I don't make excuses for bad behaviour, but I do understand it. Peru has a complicated history. The Indigenous Tribes, the Incas, were invaded by the Spanish Armada. Now in the countryside, the People are _still_ like the Native Indigenous people, but in Lima that's not the case. In Lima, where my husband is from, is a big city like London. It's corrupt *and* they suffered Narcissistic Emotional Abuse. They were not told the truth about the Spanish and were told that the "Indians" (the Natives) weren't civilised and they basically 'bully' the Natives. He can't 'see it' but I can. I'm from Fife (the Scottish Countryside) but we stay in Edinburgh (the Capital City). Folk from the City say we're "the poor relatives". But Edinburgh Council (local government) is corrupt, whilst Fife is the best Council in the country (great management, fair and honest appropriation of money, takes good care of staff and folk in local authority housing, a true desire to help the people in any way they can). Things happen in the City that just don't happen in small towns, although there is more to do and more jobs & amenities in the city. My opinion is that we should *all* have the same access to Healthcare and Amenities no matter where we stay, that there shouldn't be poverty anywhere, that the ones who have more should *give freely* their money, time and things to those who don't. Those who don't have much shouldn't have to _beg_ for the same health care and facilities as those who have a lot. And that also is basically why crime exists in the first place: because those who have a lot are keeping it for themselves and are basically selfish/ tight, greedy, *and* they deflect blame (victim blaming) on to those who have nothing. That is DARVO, a Narcissistic tactic to hold on to money, status & power. And that is what the Spanish Armada, French, Dutch, Portugese & British (the Europeans) did so well. They invaded the Americas, took money, land, resources, and enslaved, abused and killed the Natives *and then* blamed them for it! Believe it or not, it happens a lot in Britain and the USA but is *_disguised_* as *"Business"* and the "businessmen" get away with it because of "legal loopholes" or criminals get away with it because of "technicalities" in Court (eg "Not Proven"), or the big multinational companies get "tax breaks" which is just a way to not pay their taxes. It happens every day, but is "swept under the carpet" (not talked about) like the Child Sex Abuse Scandals, all because of *fear* . I was brought up by a Narcissistic mother who blamed me & my dad for everything. It took me years to even *recognise* it! I now realise I was *Codependant after suffering Narcissistic Emotional Abuse, the same type of abuse as the Politicans use, it's also called Coercive Control/ Abuse of Authority.* I had to tell you this. The people are suffering and blame the Politicans just like the Politicans blame the People. Politicans don't have the "power" like we think; rather they are "pressured" by "big business". That's *Capitalism* and the Middle East doesn't like the West in general because of how Capitalism is destroying the Planet (not that that is talked about because we're told how bad the middle east is in the media). We need to *move past Capitalism* & have a *higher standard of Business Ethics/ Social Responsibility and Personal Values.* We have to stop blaming each other, and *use Compassion to understand* both ourselves and other people. We must take *responsibility* for our own actions, but also *forgive* ourselves. Then we can *let go* of the past and *truly change* our present & future, by *Consciously Living in the Present Moment.* Change must first come from ourselves: *"Be the Change you want to see in the World"* (Ghandi). I feel so connected to Humanity, this Earth & all living beings and I hope everyone else feels this connection too. *Much love and many blessings to all, Om so Hum, Amen* 💞🕉🙏
Beautiful dress.
Narcos is a really good show. And it doesnt make traffickers look like heroes. Plus, its half english and half spanish.
Me encantas.
After watches tv shows like rosaría tijeras on Netflix knowing crime vocabulary would be useful
Since Narcotraficante applies to men and women, would women like Griselda Blanca be called a Narco or Narca?
Ana doesn’t get old atall
As always"una paloma blanca" from me. And as always and always, you are a chickie.
Fell out my studies on spanish any good study tips
I love Etymology(origin of words)
