Michael killing Trevor is how that mission should have gone on the first place. The whole final choice should have been Michael's.
Doesn’t matter, neither ending where you kill a protagonist is canon. The third way is the only way. Not only because it is the canon ending, but also because you are screwed out of 100% if you don’t have all the characters.
