I feel weird saying this but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. Years ago, my fiance (who was from AUS) vanished from an airport on his way to come be with me. He was never found. I miss him all the time. I remember at one point in the five years we were together, we talked over Skype about vegemite. I feel badly that I can't remember if he liked it a lot or a little but I remember a discussion about toast. so I listen to your videos to remember him since don't have recordings of my own, though your accent is a tad different. He was from Ipswich & then moved to Brisbane. anyway, thank you.
This video inspired me to try it - although all I could find in east coast USA was Marmite… if I had to compare it to anything I definitely would say sardines, minus fishy add smoky. Thanks for the video, and thanks for the tip to only do a very thin smearing 😄

for both nutrition and taste really, most people who have never had it before usually put it on the wrong things or put way too much on. also, I can’t think of anything else that tastes like vegemite so for people that have never had it, it could take some getting used to

I wouldn't worry too much about what people tell you to do. You've come up with a pretty good formula which seems to work for everyone. I remember when it was "More gum chewing!" and "No gum chewing!" so you came up with a balance of both. Keep up the great work!

In the UK we have something called Marmite that looks very similar “you either love it or you hate it” it’s a lot more runny and gloopy! I wonder how it compares...
The subtle difference, to me, is that Marmite tastes very meaty, like bouillon, whereas Vegemite is tangier--as if beer and cheese had a baby. Really worth trying both if you like yeast extracts.
I'm pretty sure you can buy Vegemite in most supermarkets like Tesco here. I've definitely bought it before in there but I didn't check if it was the real Australian stuff as I didn't know.
Aussie ASMR Man you should definitely try it. It dissipates the intensity of the Vegemite and makes it a component of a greater whole. And when I say melt, I mean adding Vegemite to lukewarm butter or vegan butter and spreading it on hot toast. You don't have to bring it to outright melting because the heat of the toast will do it for you. Also recommend adding avocado sometimes.

What does he say at around 12:04? If you're something or other? I couldn't tell. I always like to know what's said in a video, it drives me nuts when I don't know what someone says in a video. Or I suppose in real life as well but in real life I can usually ask them what they said.
Vegemite is so interesting because when you look in the jar, it looks like fudge or something, but I know if you were to take a big spoonful and put it in your mouth, it wouldn't be so good haha
I liked to lay it on rather thick so maybe it'd be OK. But it needs some butter, not just by itself... Its hard to spread over butter tho cause its more viscous than butter, so maybe you do end up eating it w/ the spoon! Bite into a buttered bread piece, spoonful of Vegemite, etc. Marmite is the same, btw.
I'd describe Vegemite as a jar of pure umami spread. And yes, Ive had Marmite as well, but prefer Vegemite, with butter on a bagel. Unfortunately here in the states its much more likely to come across a jar of Mar vs a jar of Veg.

I eat it for the taste and it's nice knowing it's not loaded with sugar. I like the taste in a similar way that I like the burn of straight whisky.

its the exact same thing basically, but Vegemite is more solid, personally i prefer Marmite because of the texture, but its sticky and messy! lol
