Thanks for doing this one Hurm. The song is based on a short story by the same title by Allan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film about a young runner who winds up in a juvenile detention center and defies the warden by throwing a race that he is expected to win. My favorite line in the song is "Must be so determined and push myself on". Even though I think it would have been better if it were "Must be SELF determined and push myself on." One of those songs that make you feel that, yeah that sometime life is futile but I must push myself on like a long distance runner does.
A nice song of them, but I find it a bit lengthy and repetetive. Shorter and more concentrated, would have been ok for me. I can underline some passages of the lyrics. I am a long distance runner myself (leisure time), and I have some of the thoughts in my mind, too, expecially during competetive events. The drum beat corresponds to the runner's heartbeat, and the change of the melodies can be compared to the change of the moods the runners experience on the track. A very special song, after all, besides all differences of music taste.

Love your reactions, would love to see you listen to some modern Maiden. For the greater good of god, dance of death, hell on earth. And two of my all time faves - The Parchment, The Talisman (live).
You are rockin' out, man! And I'm enjoying this journey with you. You have entered the Maiden Zone and there is no return."An elegant type of heavy." Well said!
Forgot to mention a great Easter egg on the album cover. Eddie's (the cyborg) breast plate. The wee symbol, is the artists signature. Check out all the iron maiden artwork, that symbol is hidden somewhere. Rock hard 🤘
I'm so glad you've been experiencing Iron Maiden, they are my favorite metal band of all time, I've been a fan since 83 , I was 13 and heard piece of mind and was blown away, I was 16 in 86 when this was released and I absolutely love this album. Thank you so much, matter a fact I was listening to this at work yesterday! I'm in construction so can blast this!
this solo is pretty good. i tried to learn but can't make it feel like the original.. in guitar playing believe me, the personal touch in a bend is a greater thing than speed shred

The four best Maiden albums hands down are: Number Of The Beast Piece Of Mind Somewhere In Time Brave New World (Powerslave and Dance Of Death get honorable mentions) NONE of the others (although great in their own right) are as solid from start to finish as these albums i.m.o.

Can't finish this album without checking out "Sea of Madness"
Exactly
Keep pumping out the Maiden! Try the Clansman from Rock in Rio or the entire Seventh Son album but you can’t go wrong with anything Iron Maiden
One Track missing!
SEA OF MADNESS
I suggest you Iron Maiden's "To Tame A Land", comparable with Alexander The Great.
It's a complete, great song, so beautiful and majestic, wow.

This is my absolute favorite Iron Maiden song.
Great song! Amazing solos and got to be one of the best intros in history!
7TH SON OF A 7TH SON NEXT PLEASE.
Very good, but Inferior to this masterpiece
Hey bro! Please react to Dance of death En vivo!
Loving this journey!. You put this in your top 10! that's awesome. Only 2 songs left from this album. Sea of Madness, and the song Heaven can wait.
To Tame a Land... full of awesomeness...
The best song, from the best metal band in the world, on their best album. What more do you want ♥
One of my all time favorite lines in a song...it's all so futile.
Jajajajjajajajja

Every time I'm on my exercise bike, I like to finish to this one. Always catch myself kicking it up a mph or two.
Now you understand , that Maiden can use 282772 melodies just for one track , and other bands dont use so many the whole of they career
Can you react to "Fear of the dark" live in Santiago chile? Please!

Oh yeah this song is about kings sending runners out to deliver important messages. 😁
BTW the album art has loads of previous Maiden song titles in it as Easter eggs.
Great song! There's some top level guitar playing in here!
Nice! 🤘 waiting for 911 😉😁
Cheers
Lol. I just commented on A different video about how you should do this song.
