I didn't understand how deep and powerful Spike's love for Buffy is until I rewatched the whole series when I got older. I hated Spike for a long time, maybe bec my Bangel heart was jealous. I decided to rewatch the whole series again and I have to admit, my older self fell in love with Spuffy. I love how Spike never left her, how he pursued her, how he strive to be a better man for her. Thank you for this beautiful video! 💕

Spike trying so hard to become a better man for her, even though he didn't have a soul, was just such a beautiful concept. I feel like it proved just how great they were together. I understand not liking Spike/Spuffy tho tbh, it's kinda an aquired taste lol... I have noticed a lot of other ppl say that they like Spike/Spuffy more during their 2nd viewing too tho lol🙂

I just want more. I want them both to get the happy ending they deserved. Buffy eventually feel in love with him too because he was her best friend and the only one she could turn to. He didn't die to save the world but he died to save her, I know for a fact that if a mohra demons blood had made him human he would have stayed that way for her. She did love you back Spike 💔

Yes! Those are two of my favorite Spike/Spuffy scenes tbh- the genuine and soft emotional side of Spike is so great to see mainly because it's such a unique trait for him to have (especially since we see that side of him when he's soulless, unlike any other vampire on the show)

This was so amazing thanks. I watched Buffy when it first came out and I was around 20. I’m now in my mid forties and I’ve just rewatched the entire series. Spike still makes me laugh and cry and fall in love with him all over again. I think we all need a Spike in our lives, he’s funny, sexy, compassionate. Love when he tilts his head or raises his eyebrow, OMG! Can’t wait for a reboot, although I don’t think anyone can compare with James Marsters! ♥️♥️

It's amazing how many people - including me - say exactly this. I saw the show 25 years ago but it wasn't until I rewatched it that I truly, deeply understood and felt Spike's character, his arc, his growth, his truth, his love. The things I disliked or actually despised about the show back then remain to this day. But the things I loved then, I love more now. And the things I didn't even notice to love, I love now. It is a show that hasn't yet aged. It's amazing!

Ooh, welcome to the fandom 😉 If you haven't seen it yet, I'd definitely recommend watching the spinoff show Angel... Both Buffy and Spike (as well as other great BtVS characters) guest star in it 🙂 Also, the final season of Angel takes place after the final season of BtVS, so they mentioned more about what Buffy and everyone are doing after the series finale 🙂 And yeah, some people don't like the comics- most people just read it for specific character storylines... I haven't finished the comics yet, but I think they're okay so far tbh

Oh what a beautiful tribute to them ! I have loved this song ever since I first heard it, but I had never associated it with Spuffy before. I could never listen to it without having them in mind now. Such a clever choice ! I was moved to tears, especially by the end of your video. I really loved the scenes you chose to go along with the repeated "you're wrong, I don't belong" line at the end. That was incredibly thoughtful...and heartbreaking. How I wish he had believed her right there...! I know part of his journey in S7 lied in loving her selflessly, without asking for her love in return. A part of me hated his "no, you don't, but thanks for saying it", and another loved it. It really testified to his tremendous evolution as a character after all, as he had come to be perfectly content with being all alone in love. It's just so frustrating and painful to think that when she finally said the words he had longed for so long to hear from her, he just couldn't believe her.
I'm sorry for this long comment. I guess your video brought all my bittersweet feelings about Spuffy back to the surface. Thank you for making and sharing this video anyway.

This is AMAZING! I am a wreck right now lol. I don't know why, but the entire ending sequence was just to well done and powerful and gave me a lump in my throat lol. You used so many scenes and voiceovers that I rarely see in Spuffy videos too, which was really cool and innovative! Made the video all the more interesting!

Oh wow I never realized how perfect this song is for them, but you matched everything INCREDIBLY!! This was such a moving video!! I really enjoyed the way you combined School Hard and Smashed with the whole "It's your job to kill the slayer, but all you can do is follow me around making moon eyes"! I don't think I have ever sen that particular parallel done before! Very cool! I also enjoyed the whole segment that started at "So I put the cigarette to bed". I still can't get over how great of a song choice this was, and the way you matched all the lyrics. I love the beginning with Spike's first thoughts when coming back being about Buffy. There is NO way he wouldn't have gone to her the second he could. lol

I love this video, your pairing of scenes is fantastic. The way you jumped from Smashed to the ‘I kill you’ from School Hard is incredible. Also loved the interspersing of ‘Every night I save you speech’ with all the times he does save her. Unless I’m very much mistaken you’ve even included the time Spike ‘saves’ her in Dead Things when Buffy thinks she’s killed Katrina which is a fascinating one to include.
It’s great that people are still discovering the show and making videos, especially ones as good as this.

I'm glad someone noticed the inclusion of Dead Things in the parallels of him "saving" her to the "every night I save you" speech... I've always felt that Spike's actions in that episode after Buffy "killed" her were nothing less than Spike doing everything he could to protect Buffy the only ways he knew how.... He got rid of the evidence, tried to stop her from turning herself in, and even let her use him as a punching bag while dealing with the guilt of what she thought she'd done... I tried to show an examples of him not only saving her life, but also the quality of it- by supporting her as much as he also put himself in harm's way... Sorry for the essay-length response lol I'm just really happy that someone noticed that particular parallel, since it was one of my favorite parts in the video lol... but anyways, thank you for your comment and for watching my vid! It's always nice to meet another BtVS fan :)

That scene where she beats the living crap out of his face- and like you said he was trying to help her in the only way he knew how to. I can’t imagine his feelings after she stopped hitting him then walked away leaving him on the floor all bloodied. He really was her rock even when she didn’t want it. I can’t think of any of her other love interests that would be strong enough to take all the heat from Buffy; the way she gave it to Spike and yet all he wanted to do was be there for her. He really didn’t have anyone in his life that loved him minus his mom😢Sorry I just have sympathy for the underdogs of stories. He just wanted to love and be loved.

Although Spike was a evil in s2, I loved him and I couldn't bring myself to hate him. Outside of him being funny and completely handsome I think it's the accent, I've always had a think for vampires with an England accent, like Klaus from the Vampire Diaries and spin off series The Originals.

Agreed, Spuffy's love story is definitely better and infinitely more complex... imo Buffy & Angel were hardly a love story to begin with lol... I do like that Joss also said Spike was the long term guy for Buffy though

He said that about their *story* . Not about the ship itself. In the same sentence he also said *Spike* is the long-term guy, and he's right if you've read the canonial comics (esp. seasons 10-11). In fact, Joss came out as a Spuffy shipper and has said a lot of great things about them. He IS a Spuffy shipper.
The Bangel story was great, but only in S2. By S3 it turned not only boring and repetitive but also tiresome and, quite frankly, painful to watch. I jumped that ship at that point. I was so glad to see Angel leaving, I don't think I would be able to handle another season of their BS. Besides, since Angel wasn't supposed to come back after S2 finale, their story was technically already over. It wasn't originally written to continue beyond that. The writers admitted they didn't know what to do with Angel in S3, and that was the result. The ship never went anywhere but in circles. So I disagree with Joss regarding Bangel considering that the "greatest" was true only for one season.

Hell yes he is wrong. That was society’s traditionalized view on love and relationships that was more acceptable 20 yrs ago but we evolved.. we know no one is perfect and people go through some dark
stuff. Now unrequited love from a soulless demon who then fights for his soul for the woman he loves then dies for her ugh come on 😩 😢

Thanks! Glad you liked the vid :) And the 2018 finale is from the comics... the Buffy comics are titled as seasons (8-12) and the last one was released in 2018... I think you can buy them all online.... And they did do an animation DVD thing of the season 8 comics, but unfortunately the original actors didn't return to voice their characters :/
