In this video, I'll show you an easy to learn pattern that connects pentatonic scale boxes up and down the guitar neck. I'll show you a concept I call "pentatonic elevator triangles" to achieve greater freedom and expression in your guitar playing. Watch till the end for tips on transposing scales to other keys, and how I demo the concept using drop D tuning for a heavier sound!

I get asked all the time...which beginner guitars do I recommend?
    Electric Guitars:
Yamaha Pacifica - “Student guitar”The most versatile electric guitar for the beginner and beyond. they do rock, blues, jazz and metal and anything else you can think of! I LOVE them!
    amzn.to/3gecQ8R
Jet Guitars.Fairly new to me, but they play brilliantly. A silly amount of guitar for such a low price tag!
    Links coming soon!
    Acoustic Guitars:
Cort AF510 - Budget beginner guitar
These have a folk sized body, which is a smaller sized body better for lady chests, and cake bellies. I've sold lots of these guitars to students and they're impressively well put together. I always have a bunch in when I teach my live guitar classes at my music school.

    Sigma Guitars - next level
    Dreadnought: amzn.to/3XY2vrf
    Guitar Practice Amp: Yamaha THR10ii
It has all the sounds! It’s great for using as an interface for recording in your favourite DAW.Link coming soon

Thanks Ricky, you always bring new insight to stuff I've been "playing-around" with, on my guitar, for years. I often get the feeling ... "of course, why didn't I see this sooner.... ?" I've been "licking-around" with "useful" stuff, but not really understanding the significance of where those "by-ear" licks came from and what they are based on. Your explanations give what I "already know" a lot more power and much more application (usability) thru-out my playing.

nevermind any confusion caused by words describing music - as you play the guitar, always remember to _play with_ the guitar... the way a child plays with a favorite toy. at one with music is our natural state of being.
