A family or friend start the paper work process for them then once they are approved then they fly to the United States. Once they arrived here then family or friend apply for a work permit. Once they have work permit they can work. They choose to go to

Springfield is only about an hour away from where I'm from, I used to live there but I'm in Columbus. That small city is nearly the center of the state. I do not understand how they skipped so many other cities and towns and ended up just there. There has to be more to it.

When I lived in Springfield, Ohio, 1973-74, it WAS the type of town you'd want to make as the home town for your kids to grow up in with a decent cost of living, laid back lifestyle, lots of old, well kept neighborhoods. Seemed everyone worked, went to school, lots of retirees, abundant with nature in and around the town. Baseball, football sports of choice for all ages. It was a quiet enuf town and I lived in 2 different neighborhoods. Old fashioned life like that lived in the '40s-50s.
Not sure if the same could be said about it now.
I was in 1982 in Springfield with my husband visiting his dad and it was a very lovely tidy small town. It is a same what happens to America.

A friend that managed units in a subdivision quit that area due to this problem. 8 people here that not had right to be here would pay more then an average family could afford for a two bedroom apartment. It's been in the south side of Milwaukee for a very long time. It used to be polish and German side of town and now it's all Hispanic and spanish-speaking and you can't even read the language on the buildings unless you understand spanish. Crime has escalated and it's just the barrio. We've been having a lot of work done on roofs around here lately and it's all spanish-speaking people. Our stores are being flooded with employees that don't even speak the language so if you need help finding something you better have an interpreter.

No Ukrainians are here as refugees and have sponsors who take financial responsibility for them. They also have a support system through Ukrainian Americans. They are not a burden on the taxpayer and using up resources.
