    I just watched an official Breville video about T back flushing. The woman on the video quoted the breville manual and stated you are supposed to do it every day.

    A nice backflush in the morning with the 2 cup basket is a fine way to heat up the portafilter and the group head AND clean your machine. 3 in one ....

    Fantastic video very clear. Just to mention I called a coffee engineer out when I had my sage. And he replaced the solenoid and while he was there he said don’t use vinegar for cleaning he said it was aggressive.

    Aju, this guide is fantastic. Thanks so much for making this video. I thought my machine wasn't backflushing properly because the instructions say that water will come out of the portafilter which doesn't happen obviously when you don't have the cleaning disk w/ the hole in it.
    I'm so relieved!

    I don't know the answer, but I know you need to periodically remove that screen with an allen key and clean thay inneer surgace where the water cokes out, ans important to guve the screen a good soapy wash. Mine was clogged when I finally figured it out.

      That's right. Cleaning the scree should be part of monthly cleaning process.

    I've happen to saw a video about the backflush just today (not in a Breville machine), and the lady commented that it was VERY important to do this at least once a week. However, I'm not sure that this would be good for the machine on a daily basis, as soon as this is a home made espresso machine. Anyways, I'd love to see your next video!!

    I wonder if doing this is pushing excess grinds back into the machine.
    For me, I run a double shot through an empty group prior to using coffee. I find this removes coffee from the head without pushing it back into the machine.

    I tried inserting a slender braided wire in the hose to clean the stoppage to the pressure gauge. Unfortunately I put 3 pinholes in the tube. I removed the locking pin from the socket, but can not pull the tube out of the socket, so I can replace the tube. Do you know how I can pull the tube out of the socket? We had tried descaling before all this, but maybe not enough.

    I did the backflush after end of the brewing session. but I didn't use the disk. instead i just use the pressurised basket to do it, as it is already a pressurised basket so I think it somehow will build enough the pressure to backflush too. so I lazy to use the cleaning disk. It should be safe to do it daily because it is mentioned in the manual guide,suggested to clean after brewing session. by the way mine is breville bambino plus. Just that after brewing coffee, before backflush the group head, I run 1 cup to rinse the shower screen then follow by backflush 2 cycles, just that I always have leakage underneath the tray(the tray is not full with water yet). and after discarded the water from the tray, I continued with 1 more cycle of backflush, the leakage still continue and worse, some water goes into the tray, some underneath the tray and mess my counter top always... anyone same issue?

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  Рік тому

      Thanks for the tip. To trace leak, you will have to open the machine. Is it under warranty? Then call Breville.

      Readjust the cleaning disk in the portafilter after each back flush because the pressure dislodges it. This works for me.😊

    When i do it, the water just comes out the group head and i don't get any pressure.
    What does this mean?
    Also i get very low pressure when making coffee.

      No worries. That's because 1st gen machines comes with a hole in the middle of cleaning disk. That's normal in your machine. If u want , you can use a cling wrap to block the water coming out and that will give u more Pressure (for testing purpose)

    Does your cleaning disc have a little hole in the middle of it? Mine does and I feel like that isn’t right because it stops it from fully back flushing.. right?

    • @AjusCafe

      Yes the first generation machines came with a hole in that disk. That's normal. You could buy another one if you really need it.

    Hi Aju, I am having problem with my machine. I did this backflush with the tablet put inside the portafilter. Pressed single, double and power buttons together to turn the cleaning function. But water was flowing out everywhere, particularly around group head, splashing out. From then on, when I made coffee, before it finishes brewing, again water splashing out and gushing out of the group head. Help

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  2 роки тому +1

      Water leaks around the GroupHead means the Gasket around the GroupHead is cracked/worn out. That's normal after few years of usage. You can easily replace that from Breville or Amazon. I would take the gasket out and examine for any cracks.

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  2 роки тому +2

      @@anita1791 Gasket can crack in some cases even if its new. Some have changed 2 or 3 times a year. I'd say you could avoid that by warming up the machine by leaving the Portafilter on GroupHead without tightening it. Then run an empty shot before you fill with Grinds and tighten it all the way. By warming up the GroupHead, the gasket becomes soft and then it won't crack that easy. So don't over tighten the Portafilter when the machine is cold. See the video on how to remove shower screen. Around 2:00 you can see the broken gasket in this video. Just use a nose pliers to pull the gasket gently down. I'd remove and inspect thoroughly before i order a new one. Also since this machine is new, you could contact Breville before you remove anything. But I'm pretty sure that's the cause.

      Hi Aju...you were right. It was the rubber seal (you call it gasket) that was broken. I did ring breville and so am waiting for itnto be delivered. It is free because it is still under warranty. Plus it is only about $8 if I need to buy it. But I will make sure & get the portafilter warmed up. Thanks so much

    I came across your videos, great job. I decided to give the back flush a try but it’s dispersing water like it’s making a shot and then automatically turns off? Do you have any thoughts on why that might be happening?

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  2 роки тому

      Did you place the backflush disk? If yes, one reason you see wanted dripping through Portafilter spouts is, some barista Express came with a cleaning disk with a hole in it. But not the new ones. See if you see a hole in the cleaning disk.

    • @scottdillon1
      @scottdillon1 2 роки тому

      @@AjusCafe It definitely has a hole in it but it's not just a little bit of water, it's a lot of water. It operates just as if I was making a shot, it runs for 15-20 seconds and then shuts off. I also tried running a cleaning cycle with the cleaning tablet and it doesn't build up any significant pressure, it also operates like it's making a shot. Do you think that's normal behaviour when you are using the cleaning disk with the hole?

    • @AjusCafe
      @AjusCafe  2 роки тому

      @@scottdillon1 No pressure is not normal. You need to use Pressurized (dual-walled) basket in your case. Little bit of water coming our is normal, but it should show pressure at 11 o' clock range. If you use a non-pressurized basket, then it may not work because of that hole in cleaning disk.
