We Americans want to point out to Baltic Nationalists that our country USA recognized them de jure only in 1991. Before the USA was recognizing them as a part of the USSR de jure according to the results of the World War II. So all Russians in Baltics are legal residents and have the right to have Russian as the state language.
My country USA did recognize Baltics as a part of the USSR de jure from 1945 to 1991 (as the results of World II). Our President Bush was saying about a wish of the USA to see Baltics independent which the USA was able to fulfill in 1991. Listen - really important - only in 1991 our President Bush said that he ordered to State Department to establish diplomatic ties with Baltics. Ambassador of Estonia in our country USA from 1945-1991 common down, we want to see the clowns from Estonian Embassy in the USA 1945-1991.
I am American (swear by life of my Mother). My country USA did recognize the Soviet occupation of the Baltics from 1945 to 1991. It was the results of the World War II. (you probably do recognize the results of World War I when Baltics became independent). The World War II changed the results of the World War I. Clear? And we Americans signed all treaties with the Soviets on the division of the World. This a historical fact and you cannot do anything about that. Emotions (even some Americans thought differently) have nothing to do with the Treaties. (Iranian Teheran, Russian Yalta, German Potsdam, American San Francisco, Finnish Helsinki). In all these Treaties my Homeland America recognized the Baltics as a part of the USSR.
