I agree. The mushroom bunting really stood out. It's the first thing I noticed in the video. Thanks for sharing this experience. I really enjoy your videos and learning from you.
It was lovely to see you at Yarndale again and the response to your stall was amazing and very well deserved. You put in so much work, so I'm glad it paid off. Thanks for sharing the info on all the costs involved. It's certainly a bit of an eye opener.
Glad you enjoyed it and just lovely to see you again, shame you are so far away, still think £20 entry is a bit expensive although can't see it ever going down, take care and speak soon xx
Loved seeing you on Yarndale, you are a very lovely lady. Your booth looked great, it was lovely to see so much needle felted items together🥰. Hope to see you next year on Yarndale❤
Your booth looked absolutely stunning! I'm amazed that last framed 2D felt didn't go, it's stunning. I love all of your sheep. Thank you for sharing, I was really looking forward to this video :)
Thank you, I was really happy with the set up, a few things to change but overall it went so well. My sheep did attract people in which was good so they did their job, thanks for watching xx
Thank you so much for this video, that was exactly what I'm always looking for as a vendor on UA-cam, which is a rare find. I had plans to join the next year's show but your video answered so many questions for me and made me stop planning for Yarndale. It would cost sooooo much for a person who travels from another country. And I can't go without saying that you had a gorgeous booth, there was so much work you put into it, absolutely successful job, well done.
Glad it was helpful and thank you for watching, it will be interesting to compare to my next one at the very same place as I think costs will be cheaper for me but as for coming from another country, you will incur quite a few costs. I think wool vendors sell much more than me but it's tricky because not than many people share their costs xx
Hi Pippa, I’m so glad you loved the earrings. It was such a pleasure meeting you on the Saturday ❤ We will be coming up from Wales for crafts in the pen too. I’m definitely bringing a packed lunch with me as the queue for food was huge 😂 You did so well, you should be so proud of your achievements. Keep shining, you little superstar 🎊 🎉❤ xxxxxx
Can't wait! It was amazing to meet you and your husband, so lovely that you came up and thank you for my earrings. I really hope you enjoy crafts in the pen, lots of amazing and varied crafters, I will be bringing some food too! These places never seem to have enough tea stops 😂 xx
thanks Philippa for ALL information you share! Congrats on your achiefment. You were looking for a way to gently inform your customers not to touch you felted work. I had a section with tryouts for making dog paws, kind of study material to show I really make all the items, where they can see and touch the parts I made. People really did enjoiy to hold it in their hands and leaving other items at rest. You could add a sign with: you can touch here or something like that.Maybe this can be a base for your own way to handle the probem and direct hands to parts they can touch.
Thank you, a very good suggestion, I did have a demo area but couldn't watch everyone all the time with the items at the front, I am going to try a small sign next time for sure as there was a lot of picking up going on, thanks for your comment, very useful xx
Love the tutorials Phillipa, but also the transparency of the blogs. It was fascinating following you through your journey from creating to selling your products. Lots of people who may be thinking about taking "the next step", will really appreciate learning about your experience. I'll be continuing to subscribe and wish you well in growing your business. The Sky's the limit as they say. 😘🏴
Thank you, that's very kind and yes, I would like people to see the process and how to build it up and keep trying. I have no previous business experience but simply love felting, thanks for watching and great to know the enjoy the channel xx
Well done Philippa, your stall did look amazing and you deserve to succeed as you put so much of yourself into everything you make. If you enjoyed the weekend then that is another plus on top of the brilliant sales you achieved. I really enjoy all your videos, but this one gave such an amazing insight into the vendors side of holding a stall.
Great that you are so open about your business Philippa. Your stand looked amazing. Just a thought for next year is a wooly weekend where you do do a workshop on Saturday and give people a tour of Yarndale on Sunday, and maybe a few more sheep related things?
Sounds like you did brilliantly. I think everyone visiting yarndale saw the mushroom bunting. It looked fantastic and was visible above the crowds. They featured in my Vlog. 😊
Really loved this vlog - it's so interesting to hear about a show from a vendor's perspective - I love these type of videos :) Mushrooms make everything better 🍄🤗 xx
Thank you for this video, I've started doing shows again this year and it's nice to hear someone else has similar thoughts and anxiety's about them. You did so well and your stand looked absolutely amazing 🎉 Good luck for Craft in the Pen 🍀
Really lovely to meet you in person Philippa on Saturday! Your display looked stunning and your work even more stunning in real life! I'm so pleased you had such a successful show weekend! Xxx❤
Just made my first small animal , hooked on felting already! Lynne from London aged 74- interested to eventually make natural looking wild animals , sheep horses etc. I shall be buying some kits and thank you for the video which I enjoyed and was very impressed with your work- I shall be in touch in the new year! Kindest Regards
Another wonderful blog, and so happy for you that it all went so well! That seems like a very good return for all of your effort, and it seems like every show that you do makes to next one easier to prepare the stall for (which looked absolutely wonderful!) That wonderful bunting will circle the booth soon, such a brilliant idea, and the mushrooms all look so good. Well done everyone!
So pleased you had a successful market weekend, Philippa! I don’t know if you’ll find this helpful, but what I do when I can’t write all of my sales down, is to take a photo of each purchase with my phone. Then you can go back and track your inventory and calculate the prices and check if everything works out in the end. Hope this helps.😊
It’s all so exciting. I can’t wait to see how crafts in the pen goes for you too. Then you can what you stick with for next year. Lovely to see Vicky and Cathy too ❤❤❤
So happy to hear how well Yarndale went. Your stall looked magical! I’ve done a lot of events with my husband and children helping, so I am totally impressed you did this alone! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! 💕🐑
What a lovely video. Your work is beautiful. My sister and I will come along next year. The mushrooms were fab .Actually my sister sent you one. I'm a big fan of the sheep
Excellent, I am so grateful for all the mushrooms, I will debate between Yarndale and Crafts In The Pen for next year to see which one is best but i'm sure I will attend Yarndale as a visitor anyway, thanks for watching xx
Brilliant, you are an inspiration! and so honest about how it went and all the effort put in. I'm in Guernsey so getting to anything like that is not really possible. But your vids are a great way to appreciate it.
So lovely to meet you at Yarndale! on Saturday, your stall was by far the most interesting and busiest! Your mushroom bunting was amazing, I will bring you another when I see you again at Crafts in the Penn! Well done you 😝☺ xxxxxxx
Thank you so much for your mushroom and meeting you too! It was really a fantastic weekend, Crafts in the Pen is rapidly approaching though! Thanks for watching xx
Congratulations on having such a successful weekend. I really enjoy watching your videos and always look forward to the next one. You are very inspiring. Thank you for your honesty, time and effort in sharing what you do 😊
Brilliant Pippa so pleased it went well for you. So sorry I didn’t make it but over the moon that everyone loved your stall. Hope you’re getting a well deserved rest and I’m sure you’ll be seeing residual sales and increased followers for weeks - adding to your profits. So proud of you! Big hugs xx
Thank you for sharing, Philippa. Even though it was a lot of work for you to prepare for it and then do it, it's not just about the sales there. I think the ongoing sales and exposure afterwards make it worth it.
Congratulations on doing so well at Yarndale. I have done fibre festivals here selling fibre for spinning and just like you said the best part is meeting and chatting with the people. You just never know where those conversations will lead! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I hope you do just as well at the next craft fair.
Hi Phillipa, it was so lovely to meet you on Sunday. Your stall looked incredible. Your 2D mushroom picture is in my lounge and looks gorgeous. I've started the sheep bauble kit, and I'm enjoying that, too. Have a lovely week, and I'm looking forward to your next video ❤🥰❤❤❤❤
Oh thank you! and I am so pleased you purchased the mushroom picture, I will have to do some more, I love how they look, great to meet you and thank you for coming over and being brave xx 😊
Hi Philippa, it was good to see you at Yarndale and am pleased you did so well; your booth looked fabulous, the mushroom garland was amazing. It was my first visit to Yarndale and whilst I enjoyed the experience, I have to agree that the entry cost was a bit steep. Look forward to seeing you at Crafts in the Pen 😊
Thank you! And yes, I very much agree but I think I will still visit Yarndale, Crafts In The Pen is a lovely and very different experience, hope to see you there xx
Lovely to meet you on the Sunday 😊 your stand was amazing, well done you did a fantastic job. I agree with you that £20 is a lot for a ticket, it was my first time visiting the show and I loved it, very well organised too but I would think twice about the ticket price. Wool gathering at Bakewell is £7.50 for a day ticket & £10.50 for the weekend, much more affordable. X
Thanks so much 😊 and yes, completely agree, so many other wool venues are much cheaper and with Crafts In The Pen at £6, big difference, amazing to meet you too, take care xx
Huge well done Philippa. The booth looked amazing and also thank you so much for taking time to video everything as well. I was really looking forward to seeing how things went and you got the vlog up so quickly. You must be exhausted. Also really appreciate your openness on what you made, costs etc and will be really interesting to compare Crafts in the Pen. Have I missed a previous vlog about the brooches?
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it, no tutorial on the brooch yet but I may be reconsidering opening Patreon so it will go on there, watch this space, thanks again xx
Thank you so much for such an honest and interesting video on Yarndale. I love watching all your vlogs and have been following this journey. Just wished I lived closer to actually come along to some of these events in person. Thanks again ❤ xx
I admire all that effort Phillips. Doing all that setting up by yourself and the hard work leading up to the day was amazing. Love your stall layout. Just wish I could have got there. You are really talented. Thanks for sharing. 😊
It was lovely to meet you in person. So happy it went so well. My framed cow head is up on the wall. See you at crafts in the pen!! My favourite Xmas makers fair.
Can't wait! Although I have plenty to make before then, thank you for purchasing the Highland cow frame, I thought he was a cutie, some pieces come out good and you can't pinpoint why. See you in November, hopefully I will get to do some shopping on that weekend too xx
Hi Philippa, thank you so much for sharing. I love your videos. Watching them has made me quite homesick for Yorkshire! My husband and I moved to France where we are continuing our soap and candle business. I felt, too, but I only have time to felt soaps, which I love. Felting is very new here in France so you can imagine how popular my felted soaps are. Our website should be working within the next 7 days but I have just started advertising on Etsy which brings me to my question for you: Customs information: Tariffs: what is that exactly, please? I hope you don't mind me asking you, I know you are very busy and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read my message. take care and I look forward to seeing your next video, Jo
Hi Jo, Not sure what you mean, I don't send to Europe as there are too many issues, I have to pay extra charges which Etsy collect but I have stopped posting there as items got returned and people were asked to pay the charges which I had already paid. There are charges for the US too and again Etsy sort them out and charge in advance for you. I think that could be the tariffs that you mean, sorry I can't help further xx
Your stand looked so nice and cohesive. I was blown away when I saw it on your instagram. Congratulations on your sales! I think these numbers are amazing. (I hear you when you break it all down to profit, but if you enjoy them and as long as you make profit I hope you keep doing them.) My partner always helps me with unloading and getting the basics up (and down), he is also responsible for light etc. but the fairs itself I'm alone all day. It's so silly, after the fair last Saturday was done I sleep so much better now. I have a two-day one this weekend so I should be nervous, but I'm just not in a way that it affects my sleep. Guess it was just because of the new display and everything. But all was fine. Weather could have been better. It were not that many people, but I did make surprisingly many sales for how little was going on. Weather forecast for this weekend doesn't look rosy, either. We'll see how it goes. I felted 5 new items in the last few days to make up for the ones I sold, but I won't be able to do much more. Got to take the pictures and videos tomorrow, so probably no felting until the fair... Next one is end of the month so plenty of time to felt then :) That project bag is gorgeous! Good luck for your next fair. Hope it goes at least as well!
Thanks so much and well done at your craft fair, your mushroom has arrived and you will see it in the next vlog, thanks again for sending one in, the bunting is getting longer!! Take care xx
@@feltsbyphilippa Awesome! I was worried it got lost... The first version of the bunting looked incredible already! So many creative versions of mushrooms! And from all over the world, too! Such an amazing project and support from your community. I'm blown away by the response you got and I probably don't even know half of it :D
It was lovely to meet you on Sunday (Ines im Maria on here which you won’t recognise) . I did call back but you were so busy I left you to it . I loved seeing the size of items . Payday tomorrow so expect an order
Hi Ines, sorry, it did get busy at some points but so great that we got to meet, thanks for coming to say hello and for supporting my small business xx
Loved your video from Yarndale, I don’t know where you get all the energy from to achieve all you do. If it’s any help I used to go to Yarndale but now refuse to pay £20.00 to go and spend my money as I feel it takes money away from the exhibitors but I do go to Crafts in the Pen and as a felter and crafter in most things I do like to come away from C.I.T.P with something I can then make at home or supplies I can use. However the work the exhibitors do is fantastic and often come away with a piece I could never achieve.
Yes, £20 is just too high, I did give me feedback that people were unhappy about the price and it will be interesting to see if less people attended. Thanks for watching and sometimes I don't know where my energy comes from too!! 😂xx
Awesome:D though I do have a question, which kind of wool/felt makes things look more fluffy? All the ones I buy always end up looking *extremely* matted 😅
Hi Philippa, it’s over and you’ve done it 👏🏻👏🏻your stall looked amazing, good job. Your figures, I thought were a WOW considering it was your first attempt. I loved being there but felt a little overwhelmed I must admit. Everyone was so complimentary about your creations. Maybe you will find it easier to decide things for next year when you have done crafts in the pen. Hopefully you will get some relaxation this week before you launch into creating for November. Great to see you there, God bless and again, well done 🤗🌻xx
Thanks Val, I popped you a message below as I am just getting round to comments and yes, Crafts in the Pen will be really helpful to work out my future plans. Yarndale was lovely and lots of work but having you there made it easier, thank you for coming to visit, I really enjoying seeing you again xx
Wonderful video! Congratulations on a great job! My next big show is New York Sheep and Wool, but I’m only taking the Teeswaters and fleeces. Non of my needle felting.
Super impressive! Thank you for sharing. For people touching the items, I think it would be harsh to say no touching, so maybe a sign that says "Touch with Gentle Hands Please" or something like that?
Good words, I am still mulling it over, I might keep the sign near the more expensive sheep and cows only so people really understand they are delicate, thanks for watching xx
I really enjoyed this, very informative. I may have missed it, if you spoke about how you set the price for your handcrafted items. I'm certain many of them took a very long time to make - do you count a worker's wage into the cost and not just the cost of materials, and are you able to sell things at a price that gives you enough profit to make that worker's wage something reasonable? It must, in a sense, be like farming - sometimes the weather's against you, the price of wheat is down, etc. For crafters, sometimes the weather's against you, the price of heating just rose, and budgets are too tight to buy the most beautiful highland cow. But in general, are you at least earning a wage for your time?
Hi Jeannine, so I have several videos on pricing in my business playlist going over what I charge and checking I am paying myself a wage. I also cover all my business earrings in an end of year report in January so people can see what I earn and whether it is enough if they wished to start up a craft business. I also diversify quite a bit with UA-cam, tutorials, PDF's and I am opening Patreon again so I don't just make items to sell as my hands would probably not thank me. Check out my business playlist for much more info xx
@@feltsbyphilippa Thank you for the reply, I didn't even check your playlists before asking, I very much apologise for that. I'm awfully glad to know that yes, you're actually getting a worthwhile income. You make such beautiful things!
Very nice vlog and full of news. Congratulations for the wonderful stand and everything you have achieved. Respect for your work and creativity. ❤️ Phillipa, please, if you can, put subtitles. I understand 80% but the rest of the information I lose. Thank you very much!😊
Sorry, couldn't find your comment, meant to reply earlier, so I am opening up Patreon again at some point and that will be the place that I share all my suppliers and lots more tutorials, thanks so much x
So glad you had a great weekend. Was lovely to meet you in person after watching so many of your videos and seeing my mushrooms on display. Really enjoyed my first wool show, I’ll be going to more that's for sure. See you at the next one. X
Fantastic, glad you enjoyed it, it is probably the most expensive one to get in so you should find others that are cheaper and lovely to meet you too, thank you for your mushroom, the bunting is just amazing xx
I agree. The mushroom bunting really stood out. It's the first thing I noticed in the video. Thanks for sharing this experience. I really enjoy your videos and learning from you.

Really pleased you did so well
Thank you, it's a relief to have done it and feel more happy about my set up for the next one xx
Congrats on a successful event!
Thank you so much xx
What a lovely stall…. Can’t believe I missed the show I only live half an hour away !!!!!
Maybe next year, thanks for watching xx
Thank you and it's lovely to have you here, commenting and watching, thank you for your kind words and it does feel like a journey I am on xx
I admire all that effort Phillips. Doing all that setting up by yourself and the hard work leading up to the day was amazing. Love your stall layout. Just wish I could have got there. You are really talented. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much, there was lots to do but really pleased I pushed myself and went for it, thanks for watching xx
Hi Jo,
Not sure what you mean, I don't send to Europe as there are too many issues, I have to pay extra charges which Etsy collect but I have stopped posting there as items got returned and people were asked to pay the charges which I had already paid. There are charges for the US too and again Etsy sort them out and charge in advance for you. I think that could be the tariffs that you mean, sorry I can't help further xx
Hi Philippa, thanks for your prompt response. i really appreciate it, especially given how busy you are. Take care, Jo
Your stand looked so nice and cohesive. I was blown away when I saw it on your instagram.
Congratulations on your sales! I think these numbers are amazing. (I hear you when you break it all down to profit, but if you enjoy them and as long as you make profit I hope you keep doing them.)
My partner always helps me with unloading and getting the basics up (and down), he is also responsible for light etc. but the fairs itself I'm alone all day.
Next one is end of the month so plenty of time to felt then :)
That project bag is gorgeous!
I use corriedale and/or merino tops mostly or any other similar blends, World Of Wool is the best for lots of different ones xx
@@feltsbyphilippa thank you ^^
Hi Philippa, it’s over and you’ve done it 👏🏻👏🏻your stall looked amazing, good job.
Really hope it goes well for you Ruth xx
My lil mushie is on the way! :) 🍄
Brilliant, I look forward to it's arrival xx
❤
One question Phillipa:the decorative creation course is in pdf or dvd format or link thanks😊
Hi, not sure which one you mean, the crochet course for the rugs? x
Very nice vlog and full of news. Congratulations for the wonderful stand and everything you have achieved. Respect for your work and creativity. ❤️
Phillipa, please, if you can, put subtitles. I understand 80% but the rest of the information I lose. Thank you very much!😊
I have looked at that before but not sure how to do it for all different countries, sorry you couldn't understand it all xx
Have you tried youtube's own auto-generated subtitles? They are usually pretty good, they do get a few words wrong though.
🎉🎉🎉
Do you sell the totes for needle felting?
No, they are just for general use x
@@feltsbyphilippa Would you share your supplier?
if not your supplier, then perhaps you could give us some guidance on thickness, fabric etc. Thank you
Sorry, couldn't find your comment, meant to reply earlier, so I am opening up Patreon again at some point and that will be the place that I share all my suppliers and lots more tutorials, thanks so much x
Geta business account with a van hire company, better rates❤️❤️❤️❤️
