This is from a earlier version of the games story and was conceived before what we ended up getting in comrades or what the team that was doing DOTF ended up trying to do. So theres no point in trying to think about how this would slot into what we got. EDIT: Some more thoughts on the matter: In this version Noctis is absorbing the light of the moon for 10 years instead of getting absorbed by the crystal to collect its light for 10 years. So what becomes of the crystal and what happened beforehand since Noctis does not end up getting absorbed by the crystal at the end of chapter 13 apparently? A lot of questions but no answers!
this hits hard as hell holy fuck, actually having to accept that you might be imprisoned for a unknow amount of time just waiting for power to emerge without knowing how long it might take, if the people you love will still be alive when you are out or if even yourself will be able to come out at all, and on top of that the god saying that you WILL die shortly after getting out is fucking brutal.
This is really cool to see Noctis panicking and expressing some second thoughts about the whole thing. Really baffling as to why it was cut when the ending was already so rushed.
@@LuthusNoxFleuret I really wonder what else you can find at this point, this is such a crazy discovery! At some point you will upload us the stella and noctis meeting and we won't be expecting it 🤣
I don't get why they decided it was better for him to be absorbed into the Crystal. This is so much more impactful and it also makes sense why Noct woke up in Angelgard.
Great discovery. Thank you for sharing once again. I can see the devs feeling this works better on paper rather than in a game, but I think it could be compelling if directed and executed right as an extended cutscene sequence. Curious if the circumstances leading up to Noctis' imprisonment were comparable the final version or if things deviated enough to necessitate the crystal idea. Still, the scene inside the crystal feels like a 'cheat' for setup and expositional purposes. Then there's Angelgard. So odd in the way it was used. Just screamed 'hold-over'.
This was nice! But I assume they cut it due that it would weird Noctis be there while the glaives fighting Bahamut right outside in Comrades? Or they could have kept this part and have Comrades for different approach
This was from a earlier point in development where Comrades was most likley not even conceived yet other than a multiplayer DLC. You can't really combine this with the final plot.
Comrades already doesn't match the main game. Galdin Quay is fortified and there's no evidence of Coctura and Dino having died. Indeed, they're still alive in the book.
@@SolidSnake11Official it is a bit unfinished tho, in the Royal edition when you battle one of the Kings of Lucis, the one right after the shuriken one, before the Bros do a QTE attack, Noctis summons a one handed sword that YOU NEVER GET IN THE GAME (but it was present in one of the artworks) I mean that alone could have probably been acquired at some point in the game but got cut lol
@@arvinjay336 That's not much different from one of the weapon vendors having early models on display to be honest, it's more of an oversight than anything. Still not a valid excuse to call it "unfinished", an unfinished game is something like Big Rigs, Final Fantasy XV (even the 1.0 version) is a complete game, it went through a lot of changes during development a lot of stuff got cut, but it's nothing new in game development history...it's just that FFXV had the misfortune to have gone through media over-exposure in early development.
So this confirms that Bahamut being the douche all along was the original plan all along? So cool to see though! I think it lacks some polishness in some areas, probably due to the restoration aswell (not saying you did a bad job, on the contrary!), I'm personally glad we did not get this in the final game, so that we got flabbergasted when we got to see it in Ep. Ardyn! Question, have you tried doing it with the English Voice Acting? Does Noctis have recorded lines for this?
he was always a kind of a douche imo but he was never the villian or mastermind behind the entire thing like DOTF then made it out to be (and honestly going for the gods are evil jrpg trope after ffxv avoided it is kind of a punch in the face imo). And lets not forget, this was cut and isn't canon anyway. What most likley happened for DOTF is that the developers had similiar and or recycled early ideas. As this was a thing wayyy before DOTF came around. Yeah theres english voice acting but its imo not nearly as good.
this is actually so amazing 😭 the fact that we can actually see something new for ffxv that was actually prepared for the game but taken out 😔 i really do like this scene, i think it highlights something noctis has to face throughout the whole game and makes the finale really impactful. i’m amazed at the voice acting again 😔 i get why it may not have been added though, when the developers had plans like dotf. 😔 its sad we wont ever get that. thanks so much for all of your hard work and for going above and beyond for ffxv!!! everytime i get a notification for a video from you i click it straight away. this has made my day!!! 🥲
thank you for all those kind words! Its worth noting this was made way before DOTF ever was a thing but they may have recycled ideas from earlier versions of the plot imo

Incredible. It's insane all the stuff you manage to still find in the game!
Im as baffled as you are - I was so excited to share this haha

Brutal, they should have left it in the final game, much more impactful than the whole Crystal sequence.
Someone needs to be modding these back in
This was really cool to see. I'm glad you are uncovering all this cool shit that was cut!

I hope Square gives FF15 another chance someday after the remake trilogy is over, I won’t mind Square going back and making an FFXV-2.
I hope so too. This game has so much potential.
Thanks for this and all the amazing content you bring. Happy holidays!
Incredible find, Luthus! Keep up the good work!

oh wow that is huge
If they actually finished this game it would’ve been the greatest of all time
Just because it has tons of cut content and it didn't meet your expectations doesn't make it unfinished.

Give it a few more years and I wouldn't be surprised if you somehow manage to resurrect FF13 Versus from the game code somehow!
Glad they didn't use it. Gosh Bahamut is an evil person.
