She was really only 14 and the prince she married was initially older and news flash back then people would sign away their kids for money ...they never even met the person they were pre-engaged to and only a few of the Disney princesses are even 18.
To give you guys context, my grandfather (who passed away just this last December at the ripe age of 89), was only 8 years old when this film was released in 1937. Walt Disney and his company have been making feature films for over three full generations of my family.
The opening is so lovely and clear :) and the music is so beautiful :) I love how the old classic fairytales started with the opening of a book and the intro showing the castle and evil queen headed toward the mirror is just iconic :) I'm sorry at times I've judged snow white as not being the strongest princess and also a little annoying, even turning away from this beautiful classic because of it. So much heart and hard work was put into this film and without snow white, we wouldn't have the sweet, beautiful and slightly tougher or edgier female leads after her. Snow white carried on the imprint of kindness, beauty and determination and is strong in her own ways, always remaining good, positive, hard-working and faithful no matter what happens, and she has the right amount of love and firmness to take care of seven little dwarves :) the dwarves are amazing characters btw as well as the queen and little forest animals. The prince doesn't get much screen time but I do love how romantic he is as well as his beautiful voice :) This movie and it's music is also like a moving art piece and will forever have a place in classic film.

I use to watch the Disney VHS Cassette at my Grandparents house in Cuffley back in my childhood in the 90s when I was Little Hallingbury Primary School kid age. Small boy.
Reading the names in the opening credits, and completely gobsmacked to see Maurice Noble listed. He later became Chuck Jones' main layout artist and co-director on Looney Tunes.
I think that they went for something very powerful and scary at the beginning as a bit of a warning for the audience. You might not be ready for that opening scene of the evil queen and the magic mirror if the music during this piece was too tame.

One of my all-time favourite Disney films, nearly eighty-five years on. A little project that was once called "Disney's Folley" became a groundbreaking masterpiece, setting the standard for animated feature films to follow.
Imagine how spellbound Depression-era audiences must've been when viewing this technicolor animated spectacle for the first time! And to think that this massive achievement of cinema was released just ten years after the first talking picture and only some thirty years since the motion picture was invented. Regardless of how well Disney's first feature-length film has held up over the years, Snow White's importance to the advancement of cinema as an art form will always be an undeniable fact!

The obvious choice of Steam Engines to pull the train are either No 6000 King George V of No 3440 City Of Truro and the are at STEAM in Swindon on static display for 5 years or Gresley A3 Pacific icon No 60103 Flying Scotsman to pull the Train.
theres something wonderous about the way they made songs back then with an orchestra and a group singing in harmony that the early disney films had that brought out all the emotion of what was happening in each sequence , that is lost in the later films that have modern music of today.
Interesting fact this was Walt Disney's first full-length animated movie and after the release of the film people wanted more and so other projects came such as Pinocchio Alice in Wonderland Robin Hood even The Sword in the Stone and other successful ones such as Cinderella and then a few years later The Little Mermaid and so forth

“If you can dream it, you can do it”
Fantastic opening to the disney history
I use to watch the Disney VHS Cassette at my Grandparents house in Cuffley back in my childhood in the 90s when I was Little Hallingbury Primary School kid age. Small boy.
The very first movie that came out of Hollywood's King Midas.
0:10 To 0:14 ...
That Is The Best Bit Of a The Overture In My Opinion. Love This Movie
Reading the names in the opening credits, and completely gobsmacked to see Maurice Noble listed. He later became Chuck Jones' main layout artist and co-director on Looney Tunes.
man that intro music is captivating.
0:02 - 0:17 used to scare me as a kid
Great movie BTW
why did it scare you?
I don't even know why.
Maybe because of the loud sounds
I think that they went for something very powerful and scary at the beginning as a bit of a warning for the audience. You might not be ready for that opening scene of the evil queen and the magic mirror if the music during this piece was too tame.
Really that scared you ?
I love disney so so so mucn because they have done so many amazing things for pepole for 100 years! I have so many disney memories of me and my family watching the lion king 2 for thw first tjmw ever, also walt disney gave his heart into all. And all i can say is, thank u walt
I'm so excited bc I grown up with this movie
The Golden age of animation. ❤
And the story has begun... ❤️
Wonderful
I just love Snow White and the seven dwarfs and so very nostalgic
Exactly. I grew up with these Disney movies. I remember I found the Queen so frightening as a kid.
People really took their music seriously back then.
One of my all-time favourite Disney films, nearly eighty-five years on. A little project that was once called "Disney's Folley" became a groundbreaking masterpiece, setting the standard for animated feature films to follow.
this seeks the depths of my brain.
1:24 Snow White 1947 Opening
It's 1937.
This Intro Made Me Not Crying :D
Fun Fact: All the persons mentioned are now ghosts
Unfortunately true as I am enchanted by their work
Imagine how spellbound Depression-era audiences must've been when viewing this technicolor animated spectacle for the first time! And to think that this massive achievement of cinema was released just ten years after the first talking picture and only some thirty years since the motion picture was invented. Regardless of how well Disney's first feature-length film has held up over the years, Snow White's importance to the advancement of cinema as an art form will always be an undeniable fact!
I love the original Walt Disney cartoons as it takes me bk to my childhood
When Snow White has its 100th Anniversary, The Paignton and Dartmouth Railway should do a special commemorative Steam Hauled Rail Tour Train called ''The Disney's Folly Express'' from London To Paignton on the 21st of December 2037 as there is a Cinema formerly the Torbay Picture House next door to Paignton Train Station in the throws of being reopened. The obvious choice of Steam Engines to pull the train are either No 6000 King George V of No 3440 City Of Truro and the are at STEAM in Swindon on static display for 5 years or Gresley A3 Pacific icon No 60103 Flying Scotsman to pull the Train.
Most of female actors for the 101 dalmations still are alive today
goosebumps everytime
theres something wonderous about the way they made songs back then with an orchestra and a group singing in harmony that the early disney films had that brought out all the emotion of what was happening in each sequence , that is lost in the later films that have modern music of today.
The "A Walt Disney Feature Production" would later be used in Wish. How creative
thank you so much for doing this!!!
Classic.
Remember watching this every night at the couch and falling asleep as a little girl were snow White sleeps in the coffin such good memories ❤
My favorite movies. I love it♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
The first animated Disney film to use 13 letters in the alphabet: A, D, E, F, H, I, N, O, R, S, T, V, and W.

Now I understand how destructive arrogance is...
I remember this Opening when I was Little.
1:25
I’ve seen that book on display at the Franklin Institute.
i always get anoyed when people bash this movie for not having strong and coplex characters than for axemple 90s 200s and 2010s animated movies. come on its a fairy tale movie for heavens sake and an darn good one by the way.
