    As Krusty the Clown from the Simpsons once said: “Guns aren’t toys-they’re for family protection, hunting dangerous and delicious animals, and keeping the King of England out of your face.”

      That's a great one, lol. First 9-10 seasons are so good.
      I found this one as well:
      Lisa: Dad, the Second Amendment is just a remnant from revolutionary days. It has no meaning today.
      Homer: You couldn't be more wrong, Lisa. If I didn't have this gun, the king of England could just walk in here anytime he wants and start shoving you around. Do you want that? Huh? Do you?
      Lisa: No.
      Homer: All right, then.
      lol

    I'm in NW Wyoming near Yellowstone. When the bunny huggers cry about wolves and bears, I just tell 'em that we should transplant them to their neighborhood because they could take better care of the them than we could. That usually changes their tune.

      I have a friend who uses the same argument with immigration lovers, he worked in immigrant hostels for years and the stories are feckin' wild, when the champagne socialists do their hand wringing he'll ask would they take a few in their own massive luxury homes, all but the most deluded would give up at that stage...dammit I sound like the Simpsons!, it's true regardless, bears or illegals, the people who hand wring are rarely involved on the ground, in the face of fear...

      "Oh I just feel like" ...News flash. and prove able fact repeatedly demonstrated is...Nature doesn't care what you just feel like. This philosophy is a Treadwell situation literally going somewhere to happen. And I don't even live near a any bear larger than a common black bear. Im."just" here in TN, near the GSMNF. There are signs here literally everywhere you look."Do NOT FEED the bears. The warnings still don't soak into cranial bowls that thick. There was a video on FB of a Black bear in the middle of tourist TRAFFIC, grabbed a wild boar and was killing and consuming it on the side of the road. They have recently. walked up and taken peoples food off of tables at restaurants with picnic outdoor seating and the diners sitting RIGHT THERE. They are going to "feel " their way into their own destruction

      We should do the same thing that medieval kingdoms did with cities. Ringfence the metropolises in, give them a geographic area if you work inside the area you have to live inside the area. They can make their own laws but they lose all votes outside their city boundaries, and they get no State of Federal resources. They can have their own stupid idiot laws inside the city but they get no say outside of it and can't waste anybody's resources but their own.

    We are in Unit 13E and have a bad issue with black bears. We had 6 calfs this past spring and summer. We are down to 1. We are also down 4-5 cows and have very few bulls in the area now as well. I have not been able to drop a bull in 3 years due to the racks all being to small. I found 2-3 carcasses this past summer along our trail system that goes from the tracks to our property. I managed to drop two blacks this year. I will fill my tags next summer as will Sarah. The wolves are bad in this area as well.

    • @NorthwoodsHunterWI
      @NorthwoodsHunterWI Місяць тому +1

      The wolves are the real problem in regard to deer species. They are the only predators that consistently consume adult prey. They are a huge problem in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

    • @frisk151
      @frisk151 Місяць тому +1

      TAGS? What tags and why? If you are "off the beaten paths", why would you need a single one to protect your livestock, ETC.. I've thought about this topic actually a few times before.. Chatted it up with my Texas Game Warden relatives, and others in Montana he hooked me up with while I was traveling.. All I heard was this: "As long as you are not poaching, protect yourself and your property (animals, etc), and go about your business"... Translation.. Leave it for other animal feeding purposes.. I don't expect anyone to do anything they aren't comfortable with.. I'm just saying.. Shooting some bears in some places is just under shooting humans it seems.. Stay safe..

    • @curmudgeinnak
      @curmudgeinnak Місяць тому +1

      @@frisk151 The laws in Alaska are pretty harsh as Chuke will tell you. Yes we llive 13 miles from the road system and town. BUT we have flights over our place daily from small air craft. I will not risk loosing my freedom, fines and right to hunt. I will just fill my tags and invite friends up to fill tags. If you do not harvest a animal properly you will get fined as well. If you drop one for the reason of protecting yourself or property and do not turn in the processed remains to the state you get fined as well. What I find strange is I have tags for black bears but they do not issue them for grizzly in my area. However they still limit me to one a year on them. With the two of us in the house we can take 6 black bear total. We can take 10 wolves a day but hunting wolves is not easy in our area as it is all hills. I do trap them.

    I have spent a whole lot of time flying unit 16, like a couple hundred hours in the recent couple of years. The point is, I have seen what critters do all year out there. You know what you dont see in the majority of unit 16? Moose calves... I spent a whole summer out there flying and seen zero calves with cows except out in some of the swampiest areas. What did I universally see? Almost every sow out there has triplets. One afternoon I counted 14 brown bears on one hill in about 10 minutes.
    I dont think the state should aerial gun them. But they should make it very easy if not incentivised with the pred control program for hunters to hunt it. What I think would be great is if they put out special draw tags for anyone who tags a critter in a control area. Ie reserve some goat, sheep, bison, moose ect draw tags that only people who tag a bear in a control area, then can put in for some special draws. Turn the hard-core sheep, moose, ect hunters into the solution by giving them a good reason to decide to go do it and not only for trophy value once in a blue moon.

    I really don't know any activists but I know lots of hunters and there's not a single one that doesn't love and appreciate the wildlife and the outdoors we all want it preserved for future generations, if we don't maintain balance everything goes through wild cycles of nearly no wildlife to overpopulation and starvation and the process starts all over again, sometimes taking decades to recover.

    Had a avid deer hunter tell me that back awhile ago)probably 40s 50s ?, the daul sheep were hunted almost to extention and no hunting was put in place
    Well, after a few years, the sheep multiplied to numbers so big that they almost ate themselves out of extinction. Ran out of food! Every place there is game management, the animals survived. If anyone doesn't want dangerous animals killed in self defense, then get their phone numbers and call them to protect you when you are out and about.

    I'm all for having predators on the landscape! However.. they need to be managed just like every other wildlife.
    A big male bear will kill at least four cubs a year.. and wolves will not only take out the sick and injured.. they'll take what they need to survive!
    Wolves don't discriminate.. they work as a pack and will bring down even the healthiest specimens!
    If the predators are out of control.. other big game is suffering! Which means starvation and death.. smaller litters ( most won't survive ) and dispersal!
    I wish anti hunters would understand.. that without game to hunt.. the revenue gained is lost! All the revenue gained supports ALL wildlife.. the land.. and openens up opportunities for photography and wildlife watching!
    The wildlife management officers are working for the hunters interest.. inorder to secure the revenue! That's just how it works.. like it or not!
    Also.. if hunters weren't interested.. the game wouldn't exist in the numbers we have nowadays! Cause conservation wouldn't exist 😮

      Sometimes it has to be done from the air because of logistics of vastness of area and some areas are difficult or nearly impossible to access. But yeah, I agree that it's best to allow the public more opportunities first before aerial shooting.

    Predators and prey have always been in balance by mother nature. When the predator eats the prey and the prey gets more scarce, then the predator will starve out. When this happens, then the prey repopulate and the cycle continues. I guess man is a predator and competes with the animal predators. Man keeps the deer population in check in the lower states. That keeps the heard at a level where the deer are healthier by having enough to eat. Its the same way with foxes coyotes and rabbits. If coyotes eat all the rabbits, mice or whatever then they too will die. Then when the foxes and coyotes are gone then the rabbits will repopulate and the cycle goes on.

    Why does AK Fish & Game get to have all the fun? They shoud allow people the opportunity to either ground hunt or helicopter hunt the bears and wolves. They could rake in tons of revenue by opening up the culling to private citizens. Texas allows ground and helicopter hunts for wild pig culling. Seems to work rather well.

    Conservation, not Preservation. Predator hunting is essential to a healthy Eco system when humans exist on the landscape as a predator too. I never want to see predators removed from the landscape, but I do want to see them managed properly by biologists and hunting used as a tool to do so. And not government contracted hunters, the general public.

    I had to explain to my english class how and why we need hunters after being attacked for supporting and being a hunter.
    I asked them if they would like to have zero deer and they said no I told them to help keep deer herds healthy by becoming stewards and get a hunting license to help keep deer populations under control otherwise they will all die of starvation and disease.
    They flipped out of course.😂
