Many chests have been added over the years in Clash Royale. Likewise, many have been removed. This video goes over the history and process of how and why Supercell added and removed certain chests, and the function they provide to the overall game.
CORRECTION: Giant Chests were added on February 29th, 2016 right before GLOBAL release. They were not available at BETA release.

Only Ogs remember that free chests actually had a highier percentage of containing a legendary than silver chests did. Which was a meme as itself
The free chest and the crown chest were definitely better than the gold and silver ones. They gave you double the cards and gems

I remember getting my first ever legendary from a gold chest maybe 5 years ago when I was in middle school. I was so excited, I told all my friends, my parents, and even my teacher. Good times.
I've been playing this game since worldwide release when I was a freshman in high school and something about these videos is so relaxing. Seeing videos of the old game and knowing someone is showing the newer players how good they really have it. Gems are so easy to get for free nowadays.
Your videos manage to lend me a sense of nostalgia and memories of a time where everything used to be so different. You’re the best CR content creator out there. The “summonlng salt” of this community.

the feeling of getting a Super Magical Chest back in 2016-2017 were amazing
Honestly, this video made me realize how ridiculously generous the Royale Team was in 2021. I can kind of understand why they backpedaled it a bit, even if I would have preferred they didn’t
But they didn’t just backpedal a bit, they hit the brakes and went full speed in reverse. I got back into the game in 2021 and maxed out around 20 cards and had all cards unlocked but I stopped playing after the update for losers. I would have kept playing even with evolutions if they didn’t make level 15 even more p2w then it would have normally been and if they didn’t raise the price AND severely nerf pass Royale
This is why I loved clash royale in 2021 and I didn't even realize how much fun the game actually was until they added more levels and just ruined the game entirely
A bit? They went so hard on this and made the game p2w. Like evolutions are a great example of that . They didn't even try to bring them in rare chests

I remember getting my first legendary in a clan chest, it was a lava hound so I didn't use it but still the feeling of getting it was one of the best thing that happened to me in clash royale,

yeah i remember playing this game in 2016 and haven't touched it since then but after coming back to it, it had changed so much that i had to watch a history video of it. and wow the history is so much more intense, they changed it so many times because I am a clash of clans player I am not used that much kind of change. since the clash of clans developers i feel like a really good and the gem system has never really failed in clash of clans

firstly, i liked this video you did a good job on it! but onto what i was going to say, back then when free chests were available, i remember opening one and i got a legendary graveyard card from it. im not sure if this was my first legendary or if i already had graveyard, but i think i didnt have graveyard yet and i literally screamed. i even called my friend justin and he was freaking out with me haha, good days

31:59 Fun fact: The Epic Chest actually only looked like this because of a bug. The purple details were just added on top of the giant chest, and since THAT chest was made smaller, they forgot to change the epic chest as well and it looked off.

How did bro make a 35 minute video about CHESTS actually good
I started playing the the first week it released in US. I remember all this stuff and the absolute grind to level cards. The early days of CR were some of my best gaming memories. We had the same 25-30 people in my clan for years and the chat was always active, we became like a big family and would rally to get the clan chest and help each other with replays and tips. Now I don't know anyone in my clan because people come and go so often and no one uses chat. Pretty sad looking back at it now.
Also rip tourneys. I used to have clan tourneys every month. Now I have a ton of gems and nothing to spend them on. Bring back tourneys

This video is a great example of how CR has usually had crazy slow progression. 2021/2022 were really outliers.
The fact that Champion Chests were introduced in the October 2022 update and never seen again after 2 months is absolutely hilarious.

Man, the draft chest, the super magical chest, this brings back so much momorries, if only the game was like before, nowadays nut just harder to progress, you get lot more emote BM players.
there sort of was a new chest this year, every other level up after 50 gives an evolution shard which comes in a purple version of the normal level chest.

Idk how this worked, but there was one UA-cam video that said if you like it, you’ll get a legendary (most likely inferno dragon) in your next free chest. It actually worked somehow, many people said they got one and I got my first legendary from one of

I think the stat at 6:50 is wrong, it should be even less than 45%. Using a binomial distribution where n = 3, p = 0.152, and x > 0, you get a 39% chance (p(x>0) = 0.390199808 🤓). You can also imagine this as 1 minus the probability of *not* getting a legendary three times in a row: 1 - 0.858^3 = 0.39. Idk tho and honestly it doesn’t matter at all I just thought it was interesting 😅

I opened a tower chest yesterday. It was an instant unlock after winning a battle and gave me 15 cards… 15 tower cards when I’m level 14 which changed into elite wild cards.

When Quests existed I had a legendary king chest and I could open it but it was late so I decided to wait till morning so I could show my friends I regret that decision to this day
