    I've been to Hyder three times and Hyder/Stewart is one of my favorite destinations in Canada/Alaska. I agree about The Bus-absolutely the best halibut fish and chips I have ever had. The reason Canadian Customs at Stewart are noted for being a bit more thorough than other entry points is that at least for awhile, there was a gun dealer in Hyder and there was a problem with illegal firearm imports into Canada. I don't know if that is still an issue or not. For those who have never been, Fish Creek is one of the most reliable places on the Alaska road system to see both Black and Brown bears during the salmon season. You see them not only at the viewing station but all over town.

    We were there in the last of July 2019 well worth going to this area, Salmon Glacier was a sight that will stay with forever way way cool. As a side note on our trip up to Alaska during the planning prior, I found your videos in 2018 and spent many hours watching and learning from you, about camping locations and sites to see. Thank you for posting all your videos and the effort you have gone thru to edit and post what a great resource you have given travelers to the north. Again thank you, also I still watch your videos and your new path in life having moved to AK good luck and enjoy your new home and life style. Thanks again Ron and Kathleen (RonKat)

    We loved Stewart and Hyder. We were there late August of 2017 for 3 days. We did see bears at the at the Fish Creek viewing platform. The Bus was wonderful. Great halibut. The Toaster Works in Stewart is also a great place for breakfast.

    A great / easy place to see a glacier up close is the Worthington Glacier 30 minutes north of Valdez. RV friendly parking lot (paved) easy 10 - 15 walk to the face / toe of the glacier...You really get to see the power and force of what a glacier does. In 16' there was even a ice cave "some" people were going into....

    May seem like a weird question but......what happened to your theme song? About you and the dogs traveling the country? Loved that little ditty (sp?) :)

    Are you guys planning to visit, OR have you ever visited, Black Rapids Training Base... across the valley of Gulkana Glacier...
    I went there twice in my career... once for ski training in the dark winter, the sun was rarely above the horizon...
    and once for mountain climbing in the bright summer, the sun rarely went below the horizon. . .
    Those were the fun days... (grin)
    * * *
    I guess I should have come here more often... (sigh) I'm lost as to where you guys are now...
    Your RVillage page doesn't show any travel... (grin)
    Are you guys on a secret mission again. . .? (wink)

    Until that time. . .

    Great video, Gary and Stacey! I like the way you did this one. Stacey, did you cut your hair? I really like it and great color!

      No. What’s different is in Hyder I wore my hair down which is not normal for me. With us sitting and talking about the day it’s just pulled back. Everything is natural with my hair.

    So now that you're into your second trip to Alaska, when would recommend getting there assuming you had 3 months?

    • @RVingtoAlaska
      @RVingtoAlaska  5 років тому

      June has been really nice for us and if you want 3 months in State that would give you June, July and August. Perfect in our minds.
