@@blueicer101 Not to mention that others would make that an 8 minute long video while this is a very quick 1 minute video which also has 10 seconds of conclusion at the end
Another tip that complements one of the tips in this video is that if you manage to get short trades with a Darius everytime, one fight he is going to have no mana since his kit makes him lose mana fast (at least in the early game).
many champs can take phase rush vs darius. Always good to consider. Also against darius sustain and waveclear are both really important: 1. Sustain you want to take as many equal health trades as possible without letting him extend them. Once darius is below half many champs kann kill him in an all-in before he can get his passive or atleast good use of his passive 2. Waveclear you want to make it hard for darius to get you stuck in lane needing to overextend so being able to oneshot the wave gives you the freedom to leave quickly without needing to interact with him much and it opens proxy angles
As a Darius main I want to make a couple of notes: 1. Unlike Garen whose ultimate deals true damage on 35% missing health and 140 true damage, Darius’ ultimate deals 565-900 true damage. Garen’s ult is strong against Chogath, Mundo and other Juggernauts in late game while Darius’-early game( against squishes who ain’t relying on building hp). From the other side, a smartly used Darius’ ult can reset itself so that it can be used again. Garen’s ultimate, however, doesn’t reset. 2. The only thing that counters Garen’s ultimate is Sterak’s Gage, which grants a shield. Any other items on building hp won’t help because Garen’s ultimate deals true damage on missing health. However Darius can be countered by building more hp and Sterak’s Gage is a wonderful option, because not only does it grant a shield, which is equivalent of Darius’ ultimate, it also aslo grants 400 hp that is useful against him (against Garen those 400 hp won’t help). 3. Last, but not least, in micro play always try to win in short trades against him, but do not go for long term fights as he simply wins with dealing more damage (especially early on when his passive deals lots of damage). Once you start making him low on hp, all in him by keeping as close to him as possible because in that case he won’t be able to use his external part of his Q, which heals him. Besides by keeping to him as close as possible you avoid his E as well. I hope this guide was helpful. Good luck!
The only armor item that effectively counters Darius is Frozen Heart. The attack speed slow actually makes it harder for him to stack his Hemorrhage, although this only applies to low elo Darius players. An otp can effectively apply 3 stacks within a single ability rotation, 4 if he bought Titanic Hydra. So your best bet is still Sterak's.
@@Blu_Moon_Owl Yep. The Titanic active is an auto reset. So if you have the item, the standard combo would be E-AA-Titanic-W-Q. You can modify it however you like, depending on the situation and on your opponent as well.
As an irelia main i can say if there's an irelia on your team they will most likely int so dodge, if its on the enemy team its free LP cuz champ is unplayable rn (top lane)
You mentioned Swifties, but I'd like to add that any movement speed item is also strong against Darius. Deadman's plate is a big one, slowing him with a stridebreaker works well too, and champions than can take a Phase rush should take one vs Darius. Also note that if you have a dash, the most important ability to dodge is NOT his E. It's the edge of his Q, because it heals him for so much while applying a stack of passive. If you think you can kill him, try going INSIDE the range of his Q, because it deals very low damage, doesn't heal him, and most importantly does *not apply a stack* .
Heck, even if Darius gets the 5 passive stacks on you, if he doesn't get the healing and big damage from his Q, as long as he doesn't get more than 1 AA with his passive on you may still win that trade, depending on your champ and how you fought against him. His damage isn't as explosive without R and the edge of his Q, so yeah 5 bleeding stacks will hurt you when the duel trade is over but if you don't fear him and actually make use of your Fighter (say, Irelia, Fiora, Jax, maybe Sett if he lands W) he'll likely end up worse because he is NOT a Fighter like these and more and WILL lose even a Post Level 6 Duel if he whiffes something as small as a step, a STEP, imagine whiffing a Q, Darius whiffes Q post level 6 and enemy Fighter will be murdering him Frame 1, and running to tower with summoners or an inmediate gank are the only things saving him from dying and permanently becoming just another minion under the enemy fighter sight.
Really liking these videos. Good information on what is very effective for stat wise and also items. Also a note, Sterraks Is a good item to prevent being executed by Darius ult to avoid giving him the reset he needs but this does not mean he won't ult you at rhte early game upon reaching max bleed stats to get out the early damage regardless of your HP. Black Cleaver and Max E gives him 40% armor Pen + 30% armor reduction so in long fight your armor is at 30% effectiveness.
I always go full damage as oppose to building hp or defense. The secret to denying a Darius is to rely on E whiff punish and dodging q spin. Also play dash champs against him. Once you get the first kill, the next ones are gonna be easy cause you'll out damage him. This is still risky though because when you make a mistake, darius will surely kill you.
Steelcaps damn good. Dont get baited by building small bramble vest (he only Qs after the trades so grievous wounds do nothing). Build warden mail. Randuin/frozen heart they all cripple him. Respect his full rage bar. His trading pattern is most of the times really predictable, stacks rage off minions, E onto you then go back Q heal or get close to you aa to proc grasp + lucky crit E out Q heal. Before he gets his rage zone him out.
And for more, don't forget to be careful about dodging the q max range cause it apply 1 mark + regen + more damages ! So if u dodge it it will make : - Less damages - no regen from darius (+) - no marks (++ very important) If u dodge the q u'll live more longer from a darius engage, dont forget about this !
Go Dr. Mundo vs Darius and enjoy free win. It’s pretty simple - farm safe with Q, poke Darius with Q, your passive counters his grab. After poking him to 30% try all in. Your dmg with E and R healing should work before he stacks 5 passive
Could show how to play around Darius exp zoning Lvl 1. It's a nasty trick every good Darius uses. Best way to counter it is hiding in alcove and warding midxle bush at around 1:30min
As a darius main, he is totally right, try to do shoprt trades with darius bc the 5th stack deals a lot of dmg, also, darius loses mana very fast, so when he has no mana, he isnt useless at all, but hes very weak, when he uses his q, try either to flee, or to come close to him to auto him and then flee, bc he only deals dmg and heals from the outer part of the axe
I love playing Camille against him. It's not particularly a good matchup, but you can outtrade him alot of times with your passive shield, you can buffer his E with your E, and you get free access to ignite without ahving to lose tp (ignite tp champ)
Regarding building armor: As you know, 50 armor provides a 33% damage reduction. When you apply level 1 Darius' E armor reduction, the armor becomes 40, which equals a 29% damage reduction. Darius gets a 4% increase in damage. If the enemy buys 20 armor, they will have 70 armor without armor penetration. With armor penetration, it becomes 56 armor, which means a 36% damage reduction. So, 20 armor gives a 7% damage reduction against level 1 Darius' E passive. From this, I infer that you get 7% less damage for every 100 health you have. Therefore, you need 2000 health to get the value of a Ruby Crystal. What do you guys think about my logic? Am I mistaken?
Yes but a) by the time you have 2000 hp darius will level his E and b)it doesn't block ult so you have to deduce about 600-700hp from your pool which will be taken away by ult. Which means you gotta be closer to 3k hp for armor to benefit you, and more when he lvls E

His Q gives armor shred and the rest is just raw damage. Now that Divine Sunderer is gone, he can’t deal with tanks. Just build health and that will help you.
I used to take 2nd wind vs Darius all the time since I would get more value against Darius bleed but I reconsidered when I saw some high Elo Chinese players taking bone-plating instead, which makes sense for the short trades. They both have their benefits, I assume if you play optimally then bone-plating is better.
@@edipedipbulmaz yeah now that I think about it even if he tries auto, W-auto, Q, most likely bone-plating would only block at most 2 instances of damage and probably disappear before Darius's next auto after Q so unless you're only trading like every 50 seconds it's probably not worth it
Darius is most afraid of mobile heroes with burst damage and ignite. for example (riven, wukong) you poke Darius and as soon as you get 6 lvl go to all in. Darius is also afraid of the heroes' stat check. (1-4 lvl sett with ignite, yorick lvl6, urogt with ignite). If you don't have such heroes in your pool. Try taking a phase rush, for example, Jace or Gragas or Zion. Also, if you are a good adc player, you can take Wayne. But be careful if Darius buys edge of night it's the end for you. Darius with a fezrash and a boot can also kill you at level 1 if you are adc.
i mean, as long as darius don't get to proc his 5 stacks, he won't win against mostly anyone. Champions that deny him his all in can shit on him, i saw that as someone that play darius a lot. Gragas, Akali, Jayce, Renekton are good examples. They will combo you and either knock you back with a slow not letting you fight back, or they will just dash away/hide and again, not let you fight back.
I have never had problems with Darius. Just avoid long trades so he can't stack passive, and don't get hit by his Q, which is rather easy to dodge (sometimes, It is better to get hit by the inner part of the Q than the edge). He is un fact rather weak and requieres a really good player to do something if you understand this.
I get that you're trying to make a joke but I would just like to point to people in low elos that this is untrue on so many levels: Yes, Darius CAN be a huge threat and minion denier at lv 1 but people alway take this at face value and apply it to all champions and matchups For example: sometimes you have a darius versus a wukong, urgot or mordekaiser, who has a better lv 1 matchup and can even kill darius, they decide that it's better to stand back and let Darius get the push advantage when he has no business doing that.
As someone who want to play Darius, thank you for this guide! When they build Swiftness against me, they will not have the Plated Steelcaps passive to block my %armor pen physical damage 😊
how about tahm kench? it fells like anything you do against him is pointless or detrimental. Can't poke him because he can regen his health, can't all in because you need to kill him twice, can't play against him when he's slightly pushed against his tower or he will eat you long enough to kidnap you under his tower
How to counter TF top (due to the changes of Stattik) please. Laning with that champ is hard if he knows how to punish melees, is picking ranged the only option?
I think that you should just play safe like you would against any ranged top. Just try to farm and poke if you can. If for some reason he wastes his stun you can try to do a short trade or even an all-in.
well one of the best counters are either divers like irelia (he has a 44% winrate against her) or champs that will more or less just outsustain and outpush him like mundo or tryndamere. once mundo has his warmogs its basically just game over, you can just hard shove the lane take like 1k of tower hp and ignore everything tf does because you have like 3k hp already and warmogs health you to full within 15 seconds and you just do that on repeat and tryn is a good one for obvious reasons you outpush with him with tiamat and just easily run him over with ghost. maybe nasus aswell once he has two components of trinity and ghost up. otherwise yea its just the usual "ranged shuts down melee on top" scenario. now that i think of it yorick might be very good aswell since he has no real mobility to easily get out of yoricks cage.
I like to play mordekaiser from time to time and i can deal with most of the bad matchups like fiora and voli. Something i can't deal yet is jax, i just get stomped everytime i go against a jax. It would be nice if you could do a video on how to beat the champ.
I am otp Morde here My peak is emerald 2 so its this level of advice When vs Jax save ur E for his E If he engages with E what you also can do is ult him his E will go on cooldown without activate Frezen heart is also a good item to take for him i also go zyonyas for his E and sometimes randuims Good luck
@@hahapewpew I think that eliminates the purpose of these videos. Havoc recommends ways to play around them that work on most champions. If you just recommend how to win in champ select that defeats the point.
How to play against Trynda, when i pick Garen i almost lose every trade while he heals plus his attack speed and healing in late game are beyond stoppable.
Dorans Shield, Resolve 2nd wind. Or if you want to play an aggressive bruiser, phase rush into nimbus cloak, etc. Always have resolve as secondary for 2nd wind. Also take flash ghost. Boots first back into armor or mr for teemo. Good ranged tops will make you eat shit and are match-up dependent. Farming under tower isn't the worst. In my experience, teemo loses every fight post 6 if he isn't significantly ahead and does not have boots advantage. Flash ghost run him down. Vayne and Quinn are both relatively difficult to deal with. If they get a freeze, you lose, so wave management and keeping high hp is important. Waiting for them to be pushed in and then running them down is likely your best shot at a kill. Once any ranged top (or tbh any melee top) kills you once it's sit under tower and farm time.
Is it okay if I wanna take ghost as second spell ? Like I know darius will pick ghost cuz hes useless without it so If I get ghost as well do I secure that he aint killing me? also ghost in late game or mid game kinda good no ? chase people down especially when ur close range top laner like sett where he needs to R someone for gap close ? i mean, as long as darius don't get to proc his 5 stacks, he won't win against mostly anyone.
Some tips on how to play against haimer would be appreciated. Though you dont see him that often.
How to counter Darius on top lane
1.Remember that you cant get any minions
2.Dont get closer to Darius
3.Prepare to get blamed from your team
I get that you're trying to make a joke but I would just like to point to people in low elos that this is untrue on so many levels:
Yes, Darius CAN be a huge threat and minion denier at lv 1 but people alway take this at face value and apply it to all champions and matchups
For example: sometimes you have a darius versus a wukong, urgot or mordekaiser, who has a better lv 1 matchup and can even kill darius, they decide that it's better to stand back and let Darius get the push advantage when he has no business doing that.
He needs to make how to play Cassiopeia and start the video with buy boots 😂😂
trynda next
But if darius activate his ghost it's over
I need to know how to diff all the lux mains that spam her in my bot lane every game and go 10/0
ppl forget jax counters darius.. as long as you build the mobility to weave in n out of his q range you win
Can you make " how to counter jax" ?
How to counter heimerdinger next plz
As someone who want to play Darius, thank you for this guide! When they build Swiftness against me, they will not have the Plated Steelcaps passive to block my %armor pen physical damage 😊
Passively ignores 40% of armor. Fucking ingenious champion design. Absolutely NOT overpowered.
Warmogs for tanks cleaver/sundered for bruisers
Fiora next??
Quinn
Yes, Quinn top. It kills me.
how about tahm kench? it fells like anything you do against him is pointless or detrimental. Can't poke him because he can regen his health, can't all in because you need to kill him twice, can't play against him when he's slightly pushed against his tower or he will eat you long enough to kidnap you under his tower
"Long Trade" lmao... Remember that Darius has a slow on W and Hook on E , get hit by one of those and u're done xD
Did you even watch the video.
? He is a mage with 1 cc spell, just all in him after he Q's and you kill him. Played against a d2 tf top and omegastomped him while autopiloting
I like to play mordekaiser from time to time and i can deal with most of the bad matchups like fiora and voli. Something i can't deal yet is jax, i just get stomped everytime i go against a jax. It would be nice if you could do a video on how to beat the champ.
I am otp Morde here
My peak is emerald 2 so its this level of advice
When vs Jax save ur E for his E
If he engages with E what you also can do is ult him his E will go on cooldown without activate
Frezen heart is also a good item to take for him i also go zyonyas for his E and sometimes randuims
Good luck
How to couter YONE and yasuo PLS. Great content!!
I once lost to a Lux top as Aatrox help
Day 2 of requesting Yorick! Please cover how to beat him as a champion that relies on AoE abilities and not a champion like Sett.
pick Irelia or Mordekaiser thats it
@@hahapewpew I think that eliminates the purpose of these videos. Havoc recommends ways to play around them that work on most champions. If you just recommend how to win in champ select that defeats the point.
PLEASE HOW TO COUNTER YORICK AND RANGED TOPS
Lol Havoc be like: Build boots
hm yes, warmogs meta
How to play against Trynda, when i pick Garen i almost lose every trade while he heals plus his attack speed and healing in late game are beyond stoppable.
How to beat, Gangplank
Bro can you make a video about countering Swain,if you already did my bad,can someone share the link?
what to do against gragas
Pls make video how to counter teemo, low elo top players always struggle against it when enemy, when my teammate they throw
How to counter ranged top without your jungle
stridebreaker
Once any ranged top (or tbh any melee top) kills you once it's sit under tower and farm time.
struggling against gragas. cant trade back after his combo and always get outscaled
he shits on most melee champions sadly. not much you can do against a good one. get a late game champ and outscale, or smth like yasuo or aatrox.
Armor is not good against darius because he can just build armor shred and with his e armour shred it won't matter how much you have
Okay but, how do another champ that relies on long trades deals with him??
Afk under tower and cry got it thanks!
Can you do camille or nasus?
How can I beat ranged top as a meelee top laner my guy?
Is it okay if I wanna take ghost as second spell ? Like I know darius will pick ghost cuz hes useless without it so If I get ghost as well do I secure that he aint killing me? also ghost in late game or mid game kinda good no ? chase people down especially when ur close range top laner like sett where he needs to R someone for gap close ? I am not saying I am telling the truth or a good thing I am just asking if its good or bad :) no hate pls :D
Ghost as second summoner is good for ranged and a few bruisers that actually want to run darius down (Olaf, etc.)
