I was also thinking about this event for a long time after it happened. I definitely understand the other viewers being upset, since watching from fein's perspective, it felt like daz just piggybacked off his shotcalling in the end and then ruthlessly backstabbed his teammates. hot take, this was absolutely the organizers fault. in an event where there can only be one winner, making it such that teaming is possible is just setting up resentment. Even if they wanted teaming in the beginning but didn't want it later, they should have done more to allow that change in player behavior, such as splitting up teams via teleports and etc. it's a lot easier to break up a team amicably by just tping them away from each other, as if you see them accross the map from each other there's no telling if they're friend or foe now, whereas if the teams just stopped working, you're still sitting right next to 3 of your former teammates and backstabbing them becomes a terrible idea. Overall Dasnerth's final choise made the most sense for his own personal gain, and it should be the fault of the organizers to have even allowed for him to be in the position to have made that choice. either they should have formally allowed teams until the end with a 4 way split, or they should have disincentivized teaming far more than they actually did

teaming was not just possible, but required to win. there were multiple features that were team only and was is impossible to beat a team as 1 person, even with great mechanics

I know for one thing if couri had won the tournament he would have split the money to his teammates. I was amused that he gave 1k to his teammates each and gobbled up 97k Bloody hell.
“Monster on the loose” was so cringe. As soon as Das actually started saying that and killing people who obviously weren’t going to win anyway really showed his character. It was then that I knew their team had the guts to go all the way to the end - and when I had an inkling that it was the “monster” who had the guts to win it all. Was rooting for any of the other three guys to win after it was shown that Das was only in it for himself and the money - and that was confirmed with the way the final battle played out and when the money split was revealed.
Though in saying that - that’s what the event advertised. They were very clear it was about one winner and one only. It’s tough to evaluate how it should have been different when the game was made as it was.

@@techninja33 Dasnerth got the most kills, came up with the plan to get iron walls and go to the middle. He and Fein were the 2 best players in the alliance, saying either one got carried is untrue. I feel like when you say you are giving some part of the money, 1k is like the minimum amount without you completely lying. Seems pretty disingenuous. At least he did give 1k each though.

I agree with Couriway, the ending was sour and not fulfilling at all, but it was a realistic thing to happen and could have been expected. After killing Sapnap (and all the other last teams) you are full of adrenaline, stopping to talk it out is not what would come to mind then. In the end you should never hold grudges of what happens within these games. They are just a game after all, even if the game has a life-changing amount of money as a prize. While I do think that giving your teammates, who helped you to the very end, only $1000 is quite a small amount, we can never know what is truly going on in someone's personal life and should respect their decisions and be grateful of what they give to you/others. Anyways, amazing video Couriway, I really prefer this kind of content over any type of short form content. Keep putting in the amazing work like you have done here. ❤❤
+ the reason why Couri said that das gave them money in the ''following months'' was I believe that after the event das went radio silent towards the team for a long time, which is kind of a spineless thing to do no matter the amount of money, especially considering that it's pretty clear that he only won due to the specific circumstances

As I see it, because I'm seeing a lot of comments addressing the dasnerth money splitting issue: This is the fault of the event itself! Do NOT make a team-based game with only one winner when such large amounts of money are involved. It will ALWAYS lead to conflicts in one way or another. Whatever dasnerth did is completely okay, because the moment he won it was his money by the rules of the event. But the event should have made the team split up the money fairly and obligatory. As a game designer myself I get the appeal to design an event so that only one persons "wins it all". But from a humane perspective it's the worst you could do the other players of the winning team. Great and insane event, but its money distribution was destined to be putrid and still leaves me with a sour taste even months later when thinking about it.
Organizers wanting the obvious Hunger Games "winner takes all" tensions within team dynamics, without recognizing the actual implications when it's real people backstabbing for the prize money. Quite ironic, really. I think Das ghosting them for so long after agreeing to a split was unacceptable regardless, and that "winner takes all" rules don't really matter so much as a display of good sportsmanship here (even if he was legally in the right to take 100%, morally unclear)
yeah that's the thing, people are acting like this was something out of nowhere, like das did something against the spirit of the game. the truth is backstabbing and playing dirty was the spirit of the game, teaming was heavily encouraged but the prize pool was given exclusively to the last person alive. this is the ending the organisers intended, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed teaming in the first place. hell, mechanically teaming was more optimal than in vanilla due to the downing mechanics, pinging, voice chat, etcetera.
Dasnerth stood back and held all his items, clearly sandbagging so when the final battle happens he had the advantage. took all the prize when it was very much non of his effort but being a sheep and following, just a sad result really
Don’t tell yourself that you hold the team back, you helped them out a bunch and you’re strong. Besides, I don’t know anyone else who would be mentally strong enough to challenge themselves to beat minecraft 100.000 times without resets, and actually continuing to make progress quite some time in ❤
I disagree with the comment section here. It's a high stress environment, with an insane amount of money on the line, and at the end of the day, there really is only 1 winner. Someone had to. Could he have split? Sure. I'm not gonna say that what he did was necessary the best choice. But I honestly don't know if I'd have done anything differently. It's a tough choice.
wow. that was a good watch. was trying to get into the vods of this event but was distracted somehow. this edited version tho is on another level. honestly tho, and unfortunately(?), if given a percentage of what people would choose to do if they won 100k, very few would actually choose to split it with others, especially if they're actively making the choices to win it for themselves. people have every right to feel how they feel about dasnerth, but he also has every right to do what he did. it was designed to be part of the game. But well done streamer for the video. and just so you know, i'd be fully okay with u keeping all of it if u were the one who won :).
also just wanted to add, all that being said, i'm SO glad that people like you exist in this world. this is probably why i only watch you out of all the mcsr creators.
This is... bittersweet. [heavy spoilers about the winners] I'm happy Couriway got top 7 (I think it was 7?), I'm happy Feinberg got top 3, I'm happy it was a member of Couriway's team that won. I'm... a little annoyed about the very end. Dasnerth played by the rules and won by playing the game the way this is intended-he 100% deserves the 100k he got. I'm not mad about it. But I can't help but think that Fein or especially Coury would have played in a more "fairplay" style (I don't know Fruitberry well enough to say anything about him)-maybe giving each players time to heal back before the final battle, maybe splitting the money closer to evenly (I could even imagine Coury splitting it actually evenly (though I don't think Coury would have won first place in any case (unfortunately))). Das played the betray card and only gave away 3%. He was there for the victory and the money-and that's fine, that's what it was all about in the first place, but... I would have preferred a (more) fairplay ending. So yeah. Bittersweet.
I feel like the reason why killing become so intense is that in this game people can't just eliminate players, theres a knock out state and they have to elimate when their rival totally cannot move and isn't threathening. I cannot say this emphasize is good or not but it is more violent.
ok I saw the end and it didn't goes as I expected. Most of the times minecraft tornaments are so less competitive(at least what I've seen), it feels unethical to value championship over socializing. Meanwhile I don't think Das is a frequent minecraft events' participant? It seems like he didn't know the minecraft community's tendency.
@@fifwallnut1237 dasnerth has competed in a lot of (and won a lot of) smaller minecraft events with $1k+ cash prizes, this was probably his first time in a scope like this though

"this transcends riches, it is the satisfaction of achieving honor" unfortunately this line was said at the beginning, and yet as you'll find out if you haven't already, there was very little honor in the end.
Fein, fruit and you, couriway should have gotten more then 1k if the prize pool was 100k and your team won. It was very unsportsmanlike for das to give the rest of your team 1% of the prize pool even though you guys won as a team. Great job on the video 👍
This might be a stupid question, but didn't Mojang forbid any portrayal of guns in Minecraft? I am pretty sure some minigames on servers had to be changed because of it, yet this huge tournament which was all about guns was totally fine. Anyway, thanks so much for your perspective, it was nice to see how the whole event went.
I think it's because the event is private not a public one. So public servers were anyone can enter aren't allowed to use guns but private events like these can use them (I think so not sure)
I have a simple solution to prevent this outcome in any other future event: If you ever team up, and end up winning the prize all for yourself, *a percentage based on time spent on a team*, has to be divided between the ones who were part of your team/teams. Thousands if not millions watching, had their experience on this event ruined because of one kid. Boy needs a humbling lesson to become a man. GG Couri, Fruit and Fein! The Charismatic ones did not win the prize, but won our hearts.
After watching Feinberg's view, this really kind of cemented Das' awful attitude. Just loads of bits adding up in total to leave a sour taste in the mouth that he won. I also never want to hear "monster on the loose" in my life again.
Monster on the loose was the most cringe thing. Dasnerth was really in poor taste this entire tournament. You don't need to rub in the fact you just took 100k away from someone.
This video is incredible! The ending is unfortunate, and in reality Dasnerth has always come across as self-centered. My only question would be if something is missing from the final fight. It seemed like fruit and das turned on fein in sync without any real indication.
It’s completely fruit’s fault for screwing fein over from a fair fight without warning. This was expected from das, he’s not as close with fein as couri and fruit. Fruit should know better.
I fully hate Dasnerth for what he did. I knew he was that type of person. Guess what, 100k wasn't enough for him as he was begging for more money on X a few months ago. He didn't deserve to be the winner, Feinberg deserved to win, in all honesty. You can ignore this comment, because I'm very hated, but 1k is not generous, it's incredibly selfish. About your mother, my mum passed away nearly 4 years ago and I dedicate most of my life to her if that makes any sense. So I respect you, Couri. Really and seriously. Everyone sees me as a villain.
@CrimsonRose18 I hate das don't get me wrong but he played fair and won I would have rather . Fruit then couri then fein but das played fair its a real shame he didn't split the money
You shouldn’t hate Dasnerth, it was expected from him. Plus, he definitely deserved it. You should be putting 90% of the blame on fruit, he should know better being close friends with fein.
People shittin on Dasnerth for not sharing the money is absolutely brainded. Don't blame the player, blame the game. I have simultaneously watched most POVs but mostly Dasnerth's and I can say he definitely put the most effort and was the main IGL he won the final fight too cause he has better mechanics. He won the money fair and square and doesn't need to share it with anyone. Man literally goes to college and goes on in length about how he streams and works part time at taco bell too, to pay for tuition and loans. Dasnerth literally doesn't get invited to events cause he's too good and wins them all and the organizers want to keep it fair. So the one tournament he plays and wins fair and square, he deserves the money. After taxes he prolly got like 60-70k and everyone wants him to donate 30k off it to his "teammates" who are actually the competition and lost to him. The whole point of the game is to be brutal and that which promotes betrayal at the end game and that's what happened irl. It's not the movie where Katniss and Peeta kiss and threaten to off themselves for the W. It's only unsportsmanlike for the other teammates to even expect money from Dasnerth.
Wow. if you are going to betray a team when you are the only people left... if someone is just asking the obvious question on how it's gunna go down. Especially when he willingly came right up to you, at least tell them before you shoot. Simple basic manners. As the final fight was going down I was rooting for anyone except Das. Other then that Great Video, thanks for posting!

hot take, this was absolutely the organizers fault. in an event where there can only be one winner, making it such that teaming is possible is just setting up resentment.

@@jesusbecerra3456 if this is your takeaway from my comment, you may want to up your reading comprehension. To start with, your second comment is just wrong, there are a lot of events similar to this, in fact twitch rivals runs monthly is of similar scale. The only thing this event had going for it is the higher prizepool. On a similar note, you are mistaken in viewing my comment as a criticism on the video, which it very clearly isn't. Neither is it a criticism against Dasnerth, which is why I'm so confused on your comments. you have, by some leap in logic I cannot understand, taken my comment in the exact opposite meaning. Your very first comment literally *agrees* with me. I say in my own comment, from his perspective, this was the logical choice to make the most money. The fact that the correct play was to essentially screw over your former teammates unprompted is a fault on the organizers. It's possible to make a good event that still has obvious flaws in some regards. If you are to believe that anything that is "good" is unable to be criticized, you will never get anything better than just "good".

I feel like people are hating on das so much for winning, when in reality I expected this from das. Das isn’t as close of friends with the rest of the team. Fruit, however, completely ruined what should’ve been one of the best Twitch rivals events, which I did not expect.
The ending definitely ruined the video for me, this woulda been the type of video I rewatch a few times, but dasnerth splitting the 3% of the prizepool to the people who did 75% of the work ruined this entirely for me.
You should be blaming fruit and not das. I expected this from das but not from fruit.

No, that was just a disgusting move, especially to Feign.

Great and insane event, but its money distribution was destined to be putrid and still leaves me with a sour taste even months later when thinking about it.
he couldve split the money
Organizers wanting the obvious Hunger Games "winner takes all" tensions within team dynamics, without recognizing the actual implications when it's real people backstabbing for the prize money. Quite ironic, really.
I think Das ghosting them for so long after agreeing to a split was unacceptable regardless, and that "winner takes all" rules don't really matter so much as a display of good sportsmanship here (even if he was legally in the right to take 100%, morally unclear)
Nah hes definitely a piece of shit for that, bro code says you do a fair duel to end it (and even still split the money with the team after)
yeah that's the thing, people are acting like this was something out of nowhere, like das did something against the spirit of the game. the truth is backstabbing and playing dirty was the spirit of the game, teaming was heavily encouraged but the prize pool was given exclusively to the last person alive. this is the ending the organisers intended, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed teaming in the first place. hell, mechanically teaming was more optimal than in vanilla due to the downing mechanics, pinging, voice chat, etcetera.

I'm happy Couriway got top 7 (I think it was 7?), I'm happy Feinberg got top 3, I'm happy it was a member of Couriway's team that won.
I'm... a little annoyed about the very end.

Boy needs a humbling lesson to become a man.

great commentary, amazing video to watch
I watched Fein's video and the moment i saw him walk up the stairs and the two staring at him, I KNEW what was gonna happen

Greed is one of the eldest sickness known to man
People shittin on Dasnerth for not sharing the money is absolutely brainded.
Why are you completely ignoring fruitberries? He’s the real culprit here; this was expected from das, he’s known to always go for the win no matter what. Fruit, however, is close friends with fein and should know better. I put 90% of the blame on fruit.
