This song is too real for me right now. I've been with my partner for over 2 years. I love him so much. GOD SO MUCH. He's broken up with me 3 times now. He told me right off the bat that relationships are hard for him and his own parents have multiple failed marriages and a very pessimistic perspective of marriage and relationships. Everytime we move one step forward, it's 10 steps back. He has always come back before-- I can't let him go as foolish as it probably sounds from the outside. When we find each other again there is so much love. But he goes through these periods of depression and anxiety where he wants to put the breaks on everything and he feels like there's so much pressure on him in our relationship. He gets distant and I don't even recognize him. I moved in with him 2 months ago, after checking in so many times to see if it was a step he was ready for. 3 weeks ago he was sending me pictures of houses planning for where we were going to live. We have 2 dogs together. Today he's not sure he sees a future. We're 28 years old. He wants to be free and travel and not worry about catering his life to someone else (he's been single almost his entire life). I feel like he's just afraid. When she talks about trying so hard to keep it together when someone keeps bringing the house down I just feel like it's my own house and my sense of safety that's constantly being destroyed and I'm just frantically trying to help him remember how loved he is. I'm a mess.
