I remember the public outcry surrounding his music when it first came out. I "slightly" fell for it. When my son brought home a CD, my wife freaked. I took a step back and remembered my parents reaction to my generations music. So, when he was off to school, I sat down with my headphones and listened. Really listened. I may not have appreciated the style of delivery, but, I fell in love with the message he was delivering. I made my wife sit down and listen. We both fell in Love with Eminem from that moment on. It opened our eyes to other artists in the same genre.
Eminem was my generation's music, but I wasn't really into rap and didn't care about any rap artists outside of maybe Run DMC. One night Eminem's "Sing for the Moment" came on and I actually listened to the lyrics. I found that what he was saying in that song actually gave me a lot of respect for him. He was calling out his own fans, calling out the culture, and even calling himself out while saying that he doesn't actually engage in the criminal acts he describes in his songs because he knows that would make him a poor father and that is what was important to him. It made me start listening to more of his songs and now I enjoy a lot of them and even expanded further into rap music as a genre.
Now look at the garbage that no one has an issue with
I love this!
Which CD was it
That's beautiful ❤️
It's that part where he says "remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me" that always gets me. I know she must have been in a lot of pain, losing a sibling almost the same age as her son, but even if she didn't mean it, I can't imagine how somebody could say that to their own child.
It was all about control and manipulation.
That was eminem uncle
And what exactly are uncles to the parent?@@PreciousPayne-ie5rs
"Well guess what, I am dead, dead to you as can be" is such a heart breaking line.
You should listen to Headlights. It's him basically reconciling with his mom.
👍
Eh I don’t think that was reconciling, more so he wanted to move on and forget. She still wasn’t allowed into his life, it’s literally in the songs name.
Yeah, it wasn't reconciling so much as letting go of a toxic mf so it didn't poison him any longer. He forgave her in the same way you forgive a school bully who you never wish to interact with again.
I agree! I didn't see your comment before I made mine!!
Britt what he is rapping about is all truth everything he said did happen everything he rapped about was true even his mom sued him because of this song
She was big mad so was Kim 😂
@@BossManCarls yup
She didn’t sue him because of this song, this song happened in part because of her suing him that’s why he says “how dare you try to take what you didn’t help me to get”. And he mentions the law suit in the album previous to the one that this song is on,in marshall mathers, “my fucking bitch mom is suing for 10 million”She sued him in 1999 right after the slim shady lp came out.
“I just found out my mom does more dope than I do, I told her I’d become a famous rapper, make a record ‘bout drugs and name it after her”
@@BossManCarls Thats why he says "F**k you Debbie" in the without me song.
And now you know how powerful this song was when it came out. Such an incredibly deep dive into his pain. Pure, raw pain. I'm not a rap fan, but this song always hit me deep.
You said you know of his birth daughter *Hailie Jade* who he had with his then-wife *Kim* but he also adopted *Kim's* twin sister's child *Alaina* who he calls *Laney **#Eminem* adopted her because her mother had a drug problem & unfortunately she died from overdose. Then a few years ago her birth father also died of an overdose. But *#Eminem* also has a third child from their first divorce when they were separated she got knocked up. So she was already pregnant when they married the second time which only lasted about a year. But when they divorced the second & final time he didn't say take this other man's child with you (the child was only around a year old) but he kept it & adopted that child as well. Believing he could provide a better stable home then *Kim* He also had a younger stepbrother that he ended up raising
With time & maturity they've made up you can hear him talk about it in his song *(Headlights)*
I'm 45 now so I'm right in the "slim shady lp" era. I also had ( and still have) parent issues. This man made it a lot easier just knowing that someone else has gone through some really hard times. Everyone's experiences are unique. I just never wanted to go home because my home life was shit. Luckily, I spent a lot of time with some great families. God bless them.
⚠️ You said "this is nuts"..
This is a lullaby compared to his 'tribute' to his ex 😜
Would love to see you react to it, it's called "Kim"
Don't judge him to hard, those were different times, the deeper you go with him the more you'll realize he is the best to EVER do it.
Nobody comes even close to Em's pen game, nobody!!
Or puke...
@@jolandafrijlink6103 or fack
Not yet, we don’t want to break Britt.
Yeah "Kim" is a pretty powerful and disturbing song lol.
You should do headlights now. Would be great to follow up with
I agree
Let's do it Brit
Headlights by nate and eminem is a song about how he as a more mature person sees things now. You should check it out
This is a difficult song. Many people have experienced this kind of upbringing. It spoke to so many.
But I think his "Headlights" shows the maturity beyond the anger that is expressed here. To have someone who consistently brings the emotion, and the thought process as Eminem does with his music......beyond.
And when you can enrage a man to the point of broken tears...not just tears but you're BROKEN. That is a wound that just doesn't go away overnight.
Never completely does, you can forgive, it frees you, but, it hurts still.
Now "My Mom" and then "Headlights"..
I love the riff on this track and his willingness to empty his emotions into the lyrics.
He has a great song called 'Sing for the Moment' which he sample Aerosmiths 'Dream On'
You'll love it 👍
That is the song that made me start liking Eminem, gave me a lot of respect for him.
Eminem is a lyrical genius
Heaflights is the sequel kind of. It was 7 years later, you should react to it and also When I'm Gone!
I knew when this beat dropped you'd give the stank face , this beat is epic
It's all true as Eminem spared nobody his wrath on the album this song is taken from. You do him wrong, you end up being savaged in his songs as he don't fk around no matter who you are.
His mom sued him for 10 million for this song. They settled for 25,000 and after paying her attorneys she ended up with 1,600.
Yes, his mom took him to different doctors thinking something was wrong with him. She took him to different doctors so they could prescribe meds.
Still after what he went through with his mom and his childhood he still was successful!
Check out his song 'Leaving Heaven' its about his dad & his struggles growing up
True
My son made me listen to this album and I've been exploring rap ever since. This is such a great album. He is so talented.
Eminem really had a hard life growing up in the hood and having the family situation he had, the fact he became who he became was destiny. He was chosen by a higher power for sure.
My mum was much the same, im from England. I often got punched, stangled, kicked , once had a knife to my fingers once when i picked a scab. When i was in hospital after a hit and run at 14, the hospital called her and my mothers reply was "ok lemme know when IT dies." Then she told my 6 yr old sister "Your brother is gonna die, yes he is, yes he is. We're gonna be soo happy without him, yes we are." infront of my grandpa. He apparently flipped his lid, forced her to go see me on life support and her first reaction was "turn it off. Kill the bastad." Years later my grandpa told me when the heart monotor kept beeping, she burst out crying and said something like "IT cant even f-king die right. Why? Why wont IT f-king die!?" She hated me. My grandpa had to take me away and raise me, out of fear she would un-alive me behind closed doors. Police didnt care, their reaction to my abuse was "shut up and grow a pair son." Oh but if I dared ever try to defend myself, God forbid I ever slap her back, I'd be the evil woman beating child, put in a young offenders jail. I became a massive Eminem fan in my teens, this song is one of the 3 songs i listen to when I think back on my past. If someone like me ever talks about it in a public place, especially with women, they laugh. I had to go through therapy to stop flinching whenever my first girlfriend in my 20's touched me. I was a nervous wreck. Ironically, she "fixed" me better than our NHS here.
He recorded "Headlights" about 10 or 15 years later and it's like a follow up where he talks about how he's matured and he doesn't play this song at his shows anymore, It's such a great song/music video please check it out! You won't regret it!
Yes, all true as others have said. His real life experiences are where he gets the vast majority of his material from. Now today he regrets making the song, and will never perform it again if he ever does shows. There is a lot you miss out on with his material if you don't start from his first album made with Dre because he makes many references to prior material. Everyone knew who his mother was. She tried to sue him for defamation. Now do the sequel Headlights.
I can only imagine the amount of pain Em must have gone through while writing this about his own mother. I just wish, no pray, that he has healed now. Heard this song after years and I cried seeing this video. Lovely reaction! ❤
it's crazy watching these back, I didn't get most of it when I was young and dumb the first time around, so powerful 😮
You’ll have to do “headlights” now! It’s him apologizing to his mom and them making amends basically
Worst song Eminem ever put out!!
@@markoes28 what???
@@markoes28 k
Word of the day is tumultuous. Super underused imo
So much talent
I have a hard time believing people who grew up during this era of Eminem didn't hear this song in their life. It was everywhere and on all the time
I love that you pointed out the “one more time” in the chorus. It’s what makes the chorus, and I’m sure it was a part of the recording process. But, so cool in the Final Cut.
you do fantastic reactions, keep em coming. you have so much more Em to do
OMG, this was a very insightful reaction! 👍🏻
When people are protesting your music, the message that you are putting out, you know you are doing something right.
Its crazy when see the reaction of these kids that never heard this song to hear the gravity of it, the tone and seriousness of it immediately grabs them. Eminem was the first white rapper where all of my friends immediately knew he was THE REAL DEAL and we were really tuned in from day one. He speaks to a lot of misunderstood kids and to the white kids who grew up in the hood with all black friends and who unfortunately doesnt have a crowd he squarely fits in. Regardless 1 of the best ever!
That is basically what he went through when he was a child if you ever watch 8 Mile you will see
All this is true what he wrote!!! This is his tragic life, suffered from addictions and alcohol himself. He has demons that he is force to keep!!
I believe it was Em that produced this and I love seeing peoples first reaction cause I had it at 13 and can never get that again so I appreciate people that appreciate Em especially since there is a wave of hate
4:38--Girl, dont put Em on blast! "He's cute but I think he's married to Kim, hehe!"
This song is what got me started listening to his music. I was able to identify and empathize way too much with it.
❤
When this song came out it was so insane listening to it and that he was singing about his momma. I couldn’t even imagine having a mother like that for real.
EMINEM.. HEADLIGHTS
This is pt2 and its written
13 years later .. must watch
You have absolutely got to react to “Headlights “ by Eminem as well. It brings a heartfelt continuation and closing to this song
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Definitely listen to “headlights” now, it’s kind of like a sequel to this song
It's💯..ALL OF IT
Greatest MC.
A big quick thumbs-up!!! Thanks.
Now you gotta do "headlights" by eminem...its part 2 to this after after everything
She is beautiful
I love your reaction channel 💖
I can relate with Eminem on this song. It explains a lot about my life.
Classic Slim Shady 💯 🔥. 💐 💐 4 the Greatest 👑 🐐. 🤘🏻
"If even a fraction of this is true....." Only pretty much every single word of it is true.
It's produced by Eminem lol
And yea everything he rapped about happened to him .
I haven't heard this in a LONG time! I had to watch your reaction!!!
VERY angry song
This was peek EM for Me... takes me back in the day.
So many young people can relate to this Jam.
Produced by Eminem 🎹🔥🔥
Of Emenem's body of work, In my opinion, this song is pure genius. This man put his guts on the line for this song. I have been in therepy and I can tell you this is pure anguish and emotion. And... he did not drop this song until his mother totally cashed in on his fame.
Absolutely HAVE to do Headlights now!
Great reaction ❤️
Eminem actually produced this song, not Dr. Dre. Em is actually a very distinct producer, and every beat that he's produced bangs - "Renegade" for JayZ, "Patiently Waiting" for 50 Cent, just to name a couple of the top of my head...
Awesome reaction.
Baby girl you are perfect.
Keep it up
Yeah, this is his experience growing up with his mom. Not just a random song.
Listen. This is how you runna room.
Random people usually repost explicit versions of Eminem’s music videos. Try to react to those so you can get the full message and not play into the censorship 😁
@brittreacts Headlights is a follow up to this song and how he feels about his mom as he’s matured
4:09 now im listening to this again and im starting to realise that line i relate to because my dad did the same thing he was gonna break up with my mum until he found out she was pregnant he ended up staying with her for another 6 years just for me
You should react to “headlights”
6:00 you were talking about the show The Act, the name of the girl was Gipsy Rose Blanchard! It's a real story.
I find it hard to believe most of the people reacting to this song saying they haven’t heard it
Now it's time for Eminem's Headlights song
Now you should react to "Headlights" were he apologises for this Song to his Mother.
Seen this happen to many times in south east Michigan.
Eminem had it rough in the rapping scene at first, there was quite a lot of racism against white rappers when he began because up until then rapping was the black peoples scene, so apart from his bad upbringing he had to fight on that plane too and really fight his way forward
he also got into addiction a while into his fame which took him a while to get out of and he wrote a song about that and the mistakes he made during that time too
U should react to it, called "Not afraid"
should never listen to the edited version of an Eminem song. Too much gets cut out
Oh it's true
Ppl thought this was a diss but it wasn’t. He was just getting stuff of his chest about how he feels
hate to break it to you but all this stuff is true even the munchausen part. I remember a youtube video where they looked into it and brought all the recipts. Really crazy.
Everything in the song is true blue and I believe that that is the reason why I'm no rapper has ever been able to touch Eminem because he doesn't hide doesn't run he puts it out there we all know who he is we all know what he's been through it's not that he doesn't know Shane it's that he puts it out there so that there can be no shame
Gotta do “headlights” now to follow this up
you have to react to Headlights, as this song is mentioned there and relationship whith his mom
Headlights is a nice follow up to this 👍
Baby mama 🤘
I remember watching this video on vh1 as a kid…. Dang I’m old
All true
There’s a follow up song to this song. Headlights where Eminem apologizes to his Mom.
You need to react to Darkness by Eminem
Britt
Come on girl, Em put his soul in all of his early stuff. His own mother sued him over this, not for slander but for airing out all the shit she put him through. Most of his stuff is 100 from his past. You cannot be great without baring your soul and connecting with others that feel or went thru the same. Thats partly why he is recognized as a GOAT in his lane. He has balls of steel and will hurt anyones feelings when they cross that line. Mariah, Ja Rule, Everlast. They all learned the hard way and you can ask any rapper that you want to name and ask who do you not want to have beef with and I will bet you 10,000 to 1 they will all tell you , “Em”.
He truly is a master of his craft in his lane.
Love the channel
You are my favorite reaction channel to watch. Plz keep them coming.

Thank you for being you
btw, all of this is factual and true, proven in court!
It's important to realize though that alot of luck goes into success as well though. Flatout most people even if there hard working stay in the same social class they were born in.
Please listen to 'Headlights' next..its a follow up years later to this song..I Love your reactions! And you're a beautiful, intelligent young woman! God Bless!❤
This young lady clearly came from the suburbs and never had to go to throw away stop trying like u understand he's pain
React to headlights next
you should react to headlights. it is closure for them both
It's all true
