This house is huge, but there is little in terms of style/thoughtfulness. For $4.2M the finishes should be spectacular. I would expect (not talking finishes like speakers and lighting) a gym, plunge pool, steam and sauna to start. Keep it up, my Morehouse brother! Enjoyed your content immensely!
I like the home. Too close to the highway. For $4.2 Million I only want to hear the birds chirping. The bathrooms need a little updating and for that price the entire basement needs to be finished.
Backyard is not flat and slopes toward the house... where does the water go during a hard rain? No pool or pool house. The elevator and laundry room are too far too be useful. Also some of the finishes are just builder grade.... Nice crib but for 4 milli i want all the bells and whistles.
I am get what you are saying about the busy roads. People that can afford the houses you look at, usually work in DC or the city spaces and they rush and hear noise all day. Because we have to option of choosing between quiet areas and loud ones, I hear many people here say they don't want to live next to the road.
The exterior is absolutely gorgeous along with the landscaping in the front. Personally, I think the layout both up and downstairs is a bit choppy and way too confusing. The kitchen table or dining area was not off the kitchen. It appeared to be located somewhere near that library, office, and sunroom. Beautiful home but way too big even for a large family.
I like the chandelier. I would prefer a first floor primary, even with the elevator. For that price, I would expect a zero threshold shower. It also has a dated feel to me too. Perhaps they wanted it slightly that way because of the house style. I guess they would have to reduce the price by 2 million in order for it to sell.
I come to comments now before watching. They DON’T🤦♀️ old school mansions they were built ins. That’s improper and cheap if you ask me. Big pass for me too. 🤔🙏🏻
I want this house❤❤❤❤❤ I’m a new retired veteran who lived right below the launch system on an aircraft carrier so that noise is like a feather falling to me lol
Reminds me of the home that I raised my children in 😊 the front room to the left is the living room and not the family room 😊 and the surrounding of the fireplace is known as dental molding…I had the same molding throughout my old house! I just love stately older homes 😊 the updated are Beautiful ❤ and the stone is gorgeous ❤
John, even though everything is online, it’s still nice to have a place for books. I have a lot of books on my Kindle app but I love to read a real book when I can. There’s nothing like reading a real book. Sometimes I think if the internet went down, we’d all be lost since we rely so much on the internet. Don’t get me wrong, I’d miss my computer and my IPad.
That price is simply for the LOCATION alone...Also you are right by two huge US Government agencies so you have some of the best security on the planet. Also you are by the new Fairfax County McLean Police Station and you are somewhat close to National Airport I would think about a 30 minute drive or so and then there's TYSONS....You are in the heart of Tyson's Corner....So MO MONEY MO MONEY MO MONEY!!!!
I love it! But yeah a little noisy outside. I don’t mind the all wood study. I love old black and white classic movies, and it reminds of those 👍🏽❤️ Did I miss the laundry area? It seems like a smaller Greenleaf house. A generational shared space😃👍🏽 soooo spacious 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 love the chandelier but not the lights in the kitchen above the island bar area. It Needs some chrome/silver lights to match that BEAUTIFUL hood!
Beautiful bones but I agree with you that house does seem dated and for that price needs to be more turn key ready. Someone out there won't mind the noise but they will mind having to redo all of the bathrooms (outside the master). And the closets in the master at that price point needs more finishes.
It’s kinda close to the highway but this home is beautiful ❤, I love the stone finish! That owner’s suite is awesome ❤, I’d add a mini fridge and never leave. I think the builder has a love of vintage design. If I could afford it, I’d get it. Maybe it’s the outside noise🤷🏽♀️. I like a little white noise myself!!!!
25:00 I liked the fact that the house looked old and it had modern mechanicals. I agree with everyone that the price is very high. I can't even wrap my mind around what it would cost to maintain that place.
The house is beautiful. I love traditional style homes with defined rooms. The exterior is gorgeous and the lot is large but not too big. The landscaping and mature trees are a bonus as well. The elevator had to be an afterthought and was probably not apart of the original design based on the odd location. I don’t think anything appeared outdated in the house’s interior. My thought as to why the home has not sold is because most people prefer open concept designs and more contemporary finishes, not to mention the loud street noise. If you’re spending $4.2 million dollars why not just have your dream house built to suit your taste. McMansions are terrible investment and notoriously hard to re-sell.
Love this home. The main living areas are fabulous. Basement definitely needs updating as do the vanity in the primary. I don’t mind the builder basic closets, I can finish them to my tastes. Concerned about the grading in the back yard. Built in 2017? Maybe rebuilt?
For that large sized kitchen, a commercial style fridge and freezer should be installed. Love that there is an elevator! Beautiful exterior and back yard. Many people still read an actual book and may appreciate the "library". Chandelier is my style and is quite beautiful. I expected the bathrooms to have more high end fixtures and be more elaborate in the finishes. It's a beautiful home, but for a larger family with 4 kids or more. The price point is probably worth it, but being 7 years old, it should fall in the 2.5-3 million range. Slow housing market has to be the main reason for it just sitting, but the added street/highway noise can be added to that list. There should be a 4 car garage with all that square footage.
For that price, it should not have one single unfinished space! On another note, why didn’t you reveal what was behind that ornate glass paneled door to the right of where you were sitting? I so wanted to see what was there,
I think the home is beautiful and the finishes are timeless, I didn't get dated at all until you got to the basement...but the price and the location next to the busy street are what kills it for me.
The chandelier and wood library and elevator was fine. Someone committed in the beginning about the slope in the backyard. If it's 7 years but not being there to visually see if there was any drainage problem for the lot or the basement. Butt they made a good point about the slope. People were mentioning a pool. A lot of people don't like a pool also for resell to be considered. But the price is ok, for the amount of square footage.
I think they were going for a "neo-classic style" (a mixture of mid-century style and modern style) feel, but in my opinion, I don't think they blended it well even with staging. With neo-classic style home if not done right can be off-putting...btw love your vids 😊
Horrible road noise, quarter rounds (screams cheap builder grade) on the floor, plastic outlets and switches, cheap door hardware (and mismatched colors: silver and gold), hollow core doors. A poor man's idea of what a rich man's house would look like.
Johnathan I think with some of the design/layout the were keeping with a that historical look from back in the early colonial times I mean the library was built to have that older time period but you can tell it's a modern. And given it's in McLean with you tend to have a lot of DC politicians/elites they probably wanted to keep it with that DC/Georgetown feel of some of the historic home there but modernized. All and All it is a big A.... house lol. I like it and the price for the area is fitting, but should be lowered a bit.
It's really easy to paint that study if a buyer doesn't like the look of natural wood, and it would make a HUGE difference! Easy fix if someone really likes the house, but hates the study
I love the grand entrance. Love the door from the dining area. That's a house for a large family. The neutral colors are calming. I love the fact that it has an elevator. Great option. Nice yard space, but I need quiet. Too much surrounding noise. I really like the open layout of this house. The study doesn't fit the home. They should have painted the wood to match the walls. I'm not into chandeliers. It's a beautiful home. I love the shower upstairs. That's a great basement. I don't mind some things being dated like the basement bar area. This house has a huge footprint. It's beautiful. I guess the price is fair considering the massive size. I think the noise is a hindrance.
We just sold a home in the DC suburbs with the primary upstairs, 8 over-asking offers in 2 days, sold for 8% over asking. However, we did NOT want an upstairs primary again in the home we just bought. It was great when our kids were younger though.
The study is a Library, and I love it! 1) There are not that many places that are not close to a busy road anymore. Folks are tired of commuting and will take the hit. We moved to a "bedroom community" that has now tripled in size. We heard birds for many years; now we hear sirens. Move or suck it up. 2) The house was modeled after a home in the 1700s, we would expect older looking fixtures and design elements with a new flair. No? 3) The home is beautiful. Lots of yard, lots of square footage and definitely space for aging parents.
The homes are beautiful but the only reason why I watch your videos is because you are so handsome especially your voice and laughter is so handsome. I wish you all the best in sells.
I love love this house. I think if they berm and a layer of trees would help with the noise and the the property looks like it's big enough to add some conifers too to cut down on the noise. I absolutely love this house. Its just my style. The wood in the libary is a little outdated, but wood is timeless. If they had gone dark it would have been too dark.
I have a historical home and this house is great I agree some of the door knobs handles could have been. upgraded . The price and location are the 2 key factors that it hasn't sold. Once they drop t he price they will get a buyer for sure
I actually Love the style of this house. Love the dark floors and separated spaces. I would change the wall colour, close up that hidden door in the Dining Room and paint or stain the Library wood. But it's a beautiful house for its period.
This is why I wouldn’t follow a trend, even though it might seem old to some people. I would just go for what I like. Although I know if you want to sell your home, you’d probably have to update some things in order to sell it. But I’ve noticed that some design ideas that are considered dated do come back. I guess it depends on what the homebuyer is looking for. But you’re right, some trends are timeless and never go out of style. As far as that study, it’s too dark in there. I’d keep all the bookcases and just paint everything a lighter color to brighten up the room.
I like the house..the size is just right..if you have a close knit family a couple of members can definitely move in and you'd still have all the privacy you need💯😉
I actually really like this property. I do see a few upgrades needed. Cabinetry in Library, Basement and a few of the Bathrooms. It would be nice if more of the Basement was finished. The only real problems I see is backyard leans towards the house. Might cause drainage issues down the road, if not already. And yes... traffic noise is loud outside. But unlike some of your other properties, this is very nice. IMO.
Whoa, I actually love this house! It’s out of my budget though and I wouldn’t like the yard slope or road noise. I love the interior though. As I said in another comment, I also have chosen not to have a primary bedroom upstairs again. I love that study but we own thousands of books 😅
Beautiful stone entry and two closets, nice. Yes, no problem, I’m on my way.🏎️🏎️ Lovely, non-humming stainless steel hood, cool. Maybe you could use that wood library as a man room? I think I missed the laundry room while I was zooming over to bail you out, dang! 😕 Maybe a person could live downstairs in the basement and never hear the road noise. Just a thought. LOL Really beautiful home, but I’m with you, too much road noise. My take on the reason this lovely home has not sold is because since Covid and such a drastic change to American in general we’ve been groomed to think of those huge homes as dinosaurs just like the large luxury cars are a by gone era item.
The upstairs layout is all over the place. The flow does not make sense to me. For a house 🏠 in McLean and for the price point, builder grade finishes lower the aesthetic and value. The space off the kitchen/dining area gives staff quarters vibe.
Finishes alone are deal breaker. These lights over the kitchen island are huge and not appropriate for the space. Chandelier, bathrooms dated. Outdoor traffic noise is deal killer.
I love this house special the study but move the sink by the window and the basement will be my sport center and the other side my movie theater And that outside noise wouldn't bother me at all cause once the cookout starts and the music is on what noise
Beautiful house, It's a nice house if you are planning to keep it in the family or have the children come home after college bc it's expensive nowadays. Maybe a different location. Needs a pool/pluge pool, a fire pit, and to much wood for me (no way 😆) etc, to make it worth millions of dollars. A few upgrades like the bathrooms, lighting and the doors need to be upgraded to white bc it looks dated to me but I like it 👍🏽
I’m with you, I’m outdoors too so that road noise is 💯way too loud so it’s a pass alone. Mansions with no pool??? Nay say it ain’t so! Pass. Yeah layout different and yes elevator not a good location. Basic bathrooms pass. I’m not fixin uppin 🙏🏻😄 price, tax man cometh hence why unfinshed basement if just storage🤷♀️don’t know those laws in Va. great big home isn’t it! Do people really have that big a family? Not bad cute home for someone. Thanks for showing 🙏🏻😁
Overall love this house. Love the outside and landscaping. Love the first floor. I love the master bedroom and the sub room attached. Loved that idea. The street noise is a no, but if the house had all the updates it could be tolerated. The cost is a bit much with the in finished basement is a no go. It’s not a complete theme. I agree the home seems dated in some places. The library room was dated. The elevator location would be ok if the master bedroom was down stairs. The reality is as the home owner ages, it may become difficult to maneuver within the home with the floor plan. Overall a beautiful home but for the price and the updates needed it’s a no for me
Hi Jonathan, the Library/Study is somewhat old, and outdated, it is not contemporary style, it must be a lawyer who lived there? Other than that it's gorgeous, loving it.
Lol! I was waaaay off. I’m obliviously not well versed on VA. Because my number didn’t hit the $1millon mark. I just heard VA and I quickly reduced the price. Bad on my end. But 4Million?? Too many other options out there.
You are correct. The house is very dated. Which is why it probably hasn't sold. If the study was all white, it would look more custom and updated. Some bathrooms look basic and cheap and the closets don't look custom grade esp. for that price. Some of the lighting looks cheap as well.
Wow, love the first view of the front of the house, beautiful. Are the comps in the neighborhood just about to the same. Inside gorgeous, love the walnut floors nice staging, two tone walls love it, neutral I appreciate. The house is big a little choppy but I actually could love it. Love the wooden room/study it is just the wrong color should be lighter walnut color stain to vibe well with the floors. If they stained the study/basement/bathroom a diff walnut tone not the red tone it wouldn’t feel outdated. Some of the bathroom counters could be upgraded. The slant on the backyard not my favorite but should have a built in barbecue kitchen for parties. If people want better upgraded closet materials, I would just do it to sell it. Better have a lot of kids to fill this space. Basement you can say is outdated but the weather isn’t that great most of the year so kids be in the basement a lot so probably good for toys, bikes etc. I can’t see an older couple with no kids wanting such a large space. If the retaining wall is being built to block a highway and noise is what you were speaking of, hopefully that works. To sell might have to reduce the price profit margin might take a big hit. Love it otherwise need alot of kids and a lot of money for property taxes, etc. 😊
The home is amazing it was designed in a timeless style which could be considered dated buy some people. There was a lot of attention paid to the small details when is home was built. The problem may be the price. With all the little fine details I saw they may have went over Budget building it. Which resulted in them trying to sell it for too much.
The house is huge. The unfinished basement an issue and the bathrooms need updating. 4.2 million is too much. Location seems okay. Come down to 3.2 million.
You didn’t go through the butler’s door Jonathan 😂😂The library/study is too WOODY!! That is outdated. The bathrooms sink and cabinets are outdated for this home. It needs some designer help! The house is HUGE!! The basement is another house or apartment…WOW!!
What are the comparable sales for other houses in the neighborhood and what are other homes in the neighborhood worth? It’s a great house. Very livable. Can see a family with at least 3 kids living there, comfortably and for a long time, which is a plus for that type of home. Lots of room for people to spread out in and with a sizable backyard. So, all the pluses for family living. My guess is that the home is over priced at $4.2M, and needs to come down considerably, especially in this market. And, what’s up with elevators in homes? Is that a DMV thing? That alone would be a minus for most home owners because that’s not an additional cost that you have to consider when the elevator breaks.
I’m guessing around 5 million Ok I was over but humm.. The house is nice, I think some of the finishes are dated but I think they were trying to for for a “classic” feel but missed the mark on some of the finishes. I like the flow of the house and I would buy it if they came down off that price because it does need some updating even though it’s only 7 years old.
I prefer having all the bedrooms upstairs for parents and kids, 1 bedroom on the 1st floor which is the guest bedroom, and 1 in the basement. Bedrooms upstairs for family members add privacy from guests or even in cases of events in the house.
I was thinking it was $1.1M - $1.2M. I guess they are relying on the history of the home to justify the price. Because its asking price is $4.2 with traffic noise, I agree with all of the criticisms in the comments about a lack of in-home amenities. The elevator was a very nice amenity. It may have been retroactively fitted after its 2017 build. I would buy it, just trim it by $3M.
Mind twisting, feels like a maze on 1st and 2nd level. This house is made for walking! A dumb waiter on all levels might be helpful. Sorry we missed the guest bath on 1st level. Based on the size of this house (2) half baths on 1st level might be helpful for family and guests.
I like that the primary bedroom is upstairs. Maybe I’m old school but I wouldn’t want my bedroom on the main floor. I could, however, see having a guest room on the main floor. I do think the house is too big. Unless you have staff, who is going to clean that big house? I love the back yard, it’s a nice size. I woudn’t need a pool, you’d still have to maintain it and I wouldn’t use it anyway. I would worry about those trees so near the house and as you say, they’re really tall. Several years back, the tree that was in the back of our house fell on our garage (the tree was actually between our property and our neighbor’s) during a bad storm. If it had fallen more to the right it would have fallen on our house. We (and our neighbor) had the rest of the tree and the stump taken out. Haven’t liked the idea of trees close to the house since then.
Number one problem with that house is you have two little garage in comparison to the number of bedrooms. For $4.2m, people expect 1:1:1 plus a half bathroom on each floor. to get maximum value out of the house you need to stage the library as a library. Don’t leave it empty. The opportunity to have her/her office or children’s lounge space at the first and second floors. And don’t mix the metal in the house. The furniture of the house suggest lower grade. Those should be custom or Ralph Lauren furniture, no less than Ethan Allen. This house is most likely to sell after the retaining wall is up so as to cut the sound. It is probably going to sell for 3.4 million.
I really don’t see anything wrong with this home. I love all the wood in the library. I don’t like cookie cutter styles and colors and this house isn’t like that. I don’t think the placement of the elevator would prevent a sale. It seems like the location is okay. The house just may be too big.
19:45 The basement is kinda bland. There is nothing wrong with it. I guess there's enough space on the top two levels where you probably don't really need it!
It's a huge footprint on a noisy small lot. I think it's traditional classical style so nothing about it really turns me off other than the noise and because of the noise the price. When properties sit this long they usually go throw a few price cuts. Can you begin to include this information in the vids. THANKS and great content!
This house is huge, but there is little in terms of style/thoughtfulness. For $4.2M the finishes should be spectacular. I would expect (not talking finishes like speakers and lighting) a gym, plunge pool, steam and sauna to start.

Yes, we were just house shopping and passed on everything with negative grading towards the home
This is a traditional styled home. I love it. One of the best I’ve seen on your channel so far.
Beautiful home. Love the library. But, ugh! Sooo much grey! Stop. With. The. Grey!!!

It was actually right next to the kitchen. I thought the same thing at first. Then watched it again and saw it was right next to the Island.

The primary closets are average. The primary closets should have built-in cabinets and drawers
I agree. and I think the primary bedroom should have been on the first floor.

I like the place for books, but I don’t think they thought much about furniture or seating.

I hate that “open concept” trend. Hate it.
Newer build old school feel has a lot of charm and character love it
8:34 I love the flagstone in the backyard! What a beautiful touch.
I like the library. It’s like an Easter egg totally unexpectable!!
I love this home. And appreciate the master bedroom being upstairs.

I like the office/ library room. It's orginal. Classic. Your not an interior designer but you you are super handsome.
The office off of the butler's pantry could be for the staff that operates the house for the owner.
I actually Love the style of this house. Love the dark floors and separated spaces. I would change the wall colour, close up that hidden door in the Dining Room and paint or stain the Library wood. But it's a beautiful house for its period.
It's not period. Built in 2017, to look period.
Happy Friday! 🙏🎉
I like the study/library the wood looks well kept it looks really nice.
When you enter that room, you know their serious business that goes on
I like the house..the size is just right..if you have a close knit family a couple of members can definitely move in and you'd still have all the privacy you need💯😉
14:38 I think the master bathroom finishes are pretty timeless, but those cabinets don't match.
That 1st shower gives people a show!
IMO.
Beautiful home, great space, nothing to not like but there is no wow factor like I have to have it type feel for the price.
$4.5M
Ok, I was a little off🧐
Beautiful home, needs minor repairs. This is too much house.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Whoa, I actually love this house! It’s out of my budget though and I wouldn’t like the yard slope or road noise. I love the interior though. As I said in another comment, I also have chosen not to have a primary bedroom upstairs again. I love that study but we own thousands of books 😅
Beautiful stone entry and two closets, nice.
Yes, no problem, I’m on my way.🏎️🏎️
Lovely, non-humming stainless steel hood, cool.
Maybe you could use that wood library as a man room?
I think I missed the laundry room while I was zooming over to bail you out, dang! 😕
Maybe a person could live downstairs in the basement and never hear the road noise. Just a thought. LOL
Really beautiful home, but I’m with you, too much road noise.
My take on the reason this lovely home has not sold is because since Covid and such a drastic change to American in general we’ve been groomed to think of those huge homes as dinosaurs just like the large luxury cars are a by gone era item.
I love this house. I think for that price, the basement should be finished. If I could afford it, it would buy this house and negotiate on the price.
The upstairs layout is all over the place. The flow does not make sense to me. For a house 🏠 in McLean and for the price point, builder grade finishes lower the aesthetic and value. The space off the kitchen/dining area gives staff quarters vibe.
I agree, something felt off.
I live next to a highway and this is some BS. I hear it all day and night. I did not notice it when building, but now it drives me crazy.
Finishes alone are deal breaker. These lights over the kitchen island are huge and not appropriate for the space. Chandelier, bathrooms dated. Outdoor traffic noise is deal killer.
The study is a nice contrast in color to the rest of the home, but most of the design elements throughout are in a traditional style.
I love this house special the study but move the sink by the window and the basement will be my sport center and the other side my movie theater
And that outside noise wouldn't bother me at all cause once the cookout starts and the music is on what noise
It’s a beautiful home. The noise is not appealing. The study isn’t bad but I definitely would change the built ins. Love the chandelier.
A few upgrades like the bathrooms, lighting and the doors need to be upgraded to white bc it looks dated to me but I like it 👍🏽
The kitchen is gorgeous and I love the backsplash.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
2:45 BEAUTIFUL 🏡
The house is huge. The unfinished basement an issue and the bathrooms need updating. 4.2 million is too much. Location seems okay.
Come down to 3.2 million.
I like the main bedroom, the house isn't bad. The traffic noise can be a pain though.
10:17 This part of the house doesn't match the rest of the house. It doesn't look bad, but itseems off putting. 😊
Home is nice for a large family but feels like an older home dressing up in young clothing. Needs a pool or outdoor cooking area.
I’m guessing around 5 million
Ok I was over but humm..
The house is nice, I think some of the finishes are dated but I think they were trying to for for a “classic” feel but missed the mark on some of the finishes. I like the flow of the house and I would buy it if they came down off that price because it does need some updating even though it’s only 7 years old.
Layout weird looks like I would be lost in that house the noise would not bother me back yard is nice size
Problematic: primary bedroom/suite upstairs; laundry upstairs; bathroom finishes look builder grade/cheap; primary bathroom cabinets-1990s honey oak!!!???; outside noise level. Cabinet hardware looks cheap….
Why would you want the primary bedroom to be on the first floor?
@@allenlaurent8168 I never understand that either. If the primary is on the 1st floor then you may as well have a ranch.
Primary on second floor, looks dated. For the price should had pop m guest house and 6 car garage
Grey is the color that builders use or someone with no design experience. Space is nice but not will put together.
Confusing layout dated with mix design
This is my dreamhome....except for the location
I feel like this house was built by an older couple as like their version of a dream home.
I really don’t see anything wrong with this home. I love all the wood in the library. I don’t like cookie cutter styles and colors and this house isn’t like that. I don’t think the placement of the elevator would prevent a sale. It seems like the location is okay. The house just may be too big.
The house is magnificent. The only negative is the highway noise. Not sure $4.2 mil is a good price, I'd offer $1.0 mil less
19:45 The basement is kinda bland. There is nothing wrong with it. I guess there's enough space on the top two levels where you probably don't really need it!
Thanks, a show me closets.. LOL
17:17 My entire family could live in this house, still having our own privacy. 😂
My dad built fireplaces, that's a custom-built fireplace.
Over priced and noise factor, beautiful home.
It's a huge footprint on a noisy small lot. I think it's traditional classical style so nothing about it really turns me off other than the noise and because of the noise the price. When properties sit this long they usually go throw a few price cuts. Can you begin to include this information in the vids. THANKS and great content!
