- The last of the six junk journals for my friends. This one is for a gentleman who loves science/steampunk/science-fiction. As I've been saying, these are really more of a "Scrapbook for a person who never existed and for things that never really happened." lol. :-)
I used scrapbook paper and digi kits by Vectoria Designs and Antique Paperie and some images from the internet. I also used book pages, illustrations from the books etc.
Not for children under the age of 13.

I searched YT for ideas for a Men’s journal & low & behold your video popped up. Love your JJ, and it helped me watching your flip thru. I’m just going to create a folio, with some mini file folders to use as pockets, and a notepad (coffee stained papers) for writing space. I found some industrial digitals at My Porch Prints, to go with the masculine theme I was looking for. I’m sure the guys I’ll be gifting it to with love it. Thanks a bunch for sharing

(They are all in the journal playlist on my channel.) I enjoy frilly when it comes to some of my stitching projects, but for journals, I actually really prefer this more masculine/grungy aesthetic. The journal is amazing. I have had "good fun" creating masculine paper crafts for my dad. It exercises my feminine sensibilities which is a muscle that needs continued training. Your steampunk theme is so well done. I would love to make one of these. I am about to embark on a "medical" journal for my 94-year old dad as a Father's Day "card." Your project provided a lot of inspiration, even though his journal will not feature steampunk. It will be campy and original with items only he will understand regarding his journey through OA (Old Age), a term he has coined to explain his predicament. Thanks for sharing! (I wish you had shown the bones of your project. I want to use the file folders I have been saving and cover construction would be enlightening.)

I will consider making a video of how I make the file folder journals. I basically fold them in half, sew down each side and then sew the papers in. It's all just one signature. I would think it would be the opposite, masculine videos are harder to find. Love this you did an awesome job.
Thank you. Funny thing, over time, this video has actually gotten the most views out of all of my journal videos. I think it's because of the steampunk aspect, because I have two other masculine journals that have never taken off like this one. I agree with you, though, the masculine ones are harder to find and so you would think those would get watched more! I think at the time I posted this, most of followers then, were just more into frilly things. Thank you so much for watching! xo

Thank you so much! I found this journal really intimidating at first. Partly because it's a very specific thing (steampunk) and it was for a male so I made it fairly masculine. While I LOVE the grunge look, I also like flowers and frilly things, so I had to really approach this one in a different way. I loved making it, though. It was a ton of fun. Sparrowhawker Designs / Lauretta Allen know what you mean made a masculine journal with a leather cover made from an old jacket for my husband. Used a Shakespeare theme as he loves the plays. Very hard to keep it what you think is masculine, but he loves it. Also stopped him wearing the torn jacket lol.

Sooooo, I have been a subscriber of yours for almost a year, and today out of the blue this video showed up as a “recommended” video, but never have I received a single notification of your videos. I don’t understand UA-cam. Lately I’ve noticed a ton of channels that I am subscribed to and have on ALL notifications turned on, pop up but I never got any other notifications. This journal is so awesome! I love steampunk, and I love more masculine journals. Okay, now I have to go catch up on all the videos I have missed. You have great images, where do you find them?
Thank you! Some of the images came from digi kits, some--like the gentleman on the front, I got from searching Pinterest. Try "Victorian men vintage photograph." Some of the things, specifically related to the books, like Jules Verne, I got from actually purchasing the books used. Thanks for watching and commenting. It means a lot.
