Very nice OOK! They look great. You took me back to my childhood in the late 70s picking these babies up at my local knick knack shop for $1.25 each. Back then they were on a small end cap of a store that sold all kinds of non toy goods but just happened to have these “space toys” from the movie I first saw in 1977. Brilliant!
Nick I don't even collect the Retro collection, being strictly a TVC collector but even I had to have this set. Mainly for the box. It screams early bird 70's, I'm so glad I got it and I opened mine too. Unpunched cards with no leaflet. Amazing.
I was gonna pass on buying this box set because I’m worn out on buying doubles and triples of everything. But the unpunched cards, thicker card stock, lack of paper inserts, and the overall mint nature of the whole set being packed in that box has me tempted.
I was hesitant in getting these. But they look great and brings me back to when I was a kid. Love the new non-punched thicker card stock, and that they took out the leaflet😉👌🏽
Oh man I’ve had these in my basket for ages and still not pulled the trigger😄But that box design with the main protagonists profile reminiscent of the Sears 1979 12 pack, unpunched card and paperless bubble are calling to me😆 Chefs kiss all round for that gorgeous Rebel Commando moc - Bellissimo 😘👌👌👌

It's always nice to see someone review and open up the items before I get them that's why I always tune into your channel plus he's got an awesome collection both card at the end lose figures. I missed this set when first released, and Pulse sold out in the UK. However, US and Europe had them in stock. I emailed Hasbro UK and asked if they were getting more in and was told 'no'. So eventually as a Christmas treat to myself I pulled the trigger and ordered from the US for a large markup on what I would have paid in the UK. I get the set, and 2 weeks later Hasbro have a sale and this set is back in stock and part of the sale. I was fuming!
Awesome review Nick, I have a pair of these on the way from the US.. Definitely keen for the other 6 and hopefully similar boxed releases from ESB and ROTJ. Cheers
My Daughter got that set for X-mas last year. And I Love it! It's great to have these faithful replicas on card. Especially because most of us couldn't touch the original figures at current rate. It's always been a dream to have the original 12 on card. And now I got them! I do have some criticisms about the line and Hasbro plays the fans and collectors alike. That Warning label across Luke's Sabre. Notice that Four of the Six have that? Yet your store bought Chewie didn't have one. They want to sell the same damn toy three of them times. That's why I put the breaks on my collecting long time ago. But I digress.... Not fond of the sticker on the front. Many of the originals had same, like the Boba Offer and other promotions. But they distract the art work. So I'm gonna carefully take them off. Now said if they had a mock of the original card backs I'd forget the sticker . But it's boring and plain with all this legal crap. They could have done better. Great Video thanks for the channel as well. May the Force be with You.

The first releases we had here in Canada (probably shared stock with USA?) had the choking hazard warning on the front of the 4 with guns and not Luke/Vader. They had no paper inserts in the bubbles. Mine are punched, but I am not sure if they all were or if the store did it when hanging them on the pegs.
I’ve enquired if GW acrylic will be making a case for this box set 🤔 they said they will IF they get enough interest 🤞 the box would display beautifully 😍
I dropped out of Retro after my first couple, but this had me back in the fold. Arrived the other day - not disappointed! And stellar vid as always, OOK !
When dealing w/wall space, have you thought about placing outward pegs on starcases? That way, instead of displaying them sideways, some might displayed on top of each other - like the variants. Not perfect, but at least you have more wall space.

To quote Qui Gon - “We will be patient.” I’m not into the Retro line but I could not resist getting these based off the originals. I was a bit shaky when I pre-ordered them but seeing your video makes me feel confident I did the right thing. Can’t wait to get them! Even if they covered up part of the logo in the corner with the warning. Like, really Hasbro? 😂

ref: space in your carded room. Have u not thought about suspending vertical panels from your ceiling joists? Designed properly this could offer more display space, either side of each panel. Keep the videos coming, lovin the retro collection!
I can’t believe they kept the stickers. But you know what it means: the pack is about them putting back on the shelves all these unsold units… damn, money grabbers.
I really like what they did with those Retro collection figures!!! I just feel like Hasbro maybe could have done just a little bit better on the card backs!!! Maybe make that Retro sticker a little smaller or maybe just printed a small Retro logo on the cardback or maybe even put the sticker on the backbof the card so the front looked totally like the original!!!!! They could just have done a little bit better job!!! Keep up the great work 👍 love the content!!!

Yet more frustration at hasbro! Better quality cards that are unpunched and without leaflet. So, I was thinking about replacing my original retro SW wave 1 set with this boxed set, however that bloody warning label wasn't obscuring the Luke's lightsaber on the first wave of cards. But the overall quality of that first wave of cards is inferior!!! To replace or not to replace!!! That is the question LOL
Superb video! It’s a lovely thing this boxset. Mine arrived the other day. The card stock is top notch, but the only complaint i have is that stupid fake distressed look they print around the edges, I wish they would stop doing that. Otherwise it’s a terrific tribute to the classic Kenner figures of the 70s & 80s. More of this hasbro!
Hi, I've been watching your channel a few months ago, I've started collecting the Retro collection in the past 3-4 weeks and I came across something you might find interesting, especially considering you mention in this video that you like variants. I found a Retro collection Manolorian (Beskar) only it's some kind of misprint, the chest plate was never painted silver so it has beskar armour but with a brown chest plate. I found this really interesting and I wondered if you know anything about this kind of variant and if people collect these? also have you ver seen this particular variant before? Thanks
Nick! First thing I noticed about this vid was the Rebel Commando appears to have a blue shooter, which is patently incorrect good sir. Should be a light greeny/ faint mustardy colour rifle. Stuck out like a sore thumb my man.

Be interested to hear what others think on this: I've been waiting for this for ages. It had already sold out on Hasbro Pulse by the time I tried ordering... and I felt really cheated. SURELY, the second wave of the first 12 deserves a bigger production than what appears to be a limited run. Consequently, people are making a killing on eBay, and frankly, I don't have the money to pay £150 - £300 to complete my collection when the gas and electricity have to take priority. REALLY disappointed with Hasbro. They need to look after the people who support them better.
Retro looks like vintage star wars figures. But Vintage Collection, uses vintage classic cardbacks BUT includes a modern super articulated screen accurate figure.... That answer your question? 🤔
It’s so weird that they have these things in hand in stores, but they don’t have them online yet. They won’t have it online for a little more then a month, which is really annoying.
Why does Hasbro have the Warning sticker on the front of the card. How stupid. I’m just amazed how they mess up the simple things. Honestly it’s brain dead at this point. How do you not get things right at this point. The sticker should be on the back with the warning sticker and no fake white wear marks. 🤦♂️🤷🏼♂️
