Hey! I love the channel! Learnin a lot about On30! I do want to ask, why solder the rails to the ties rather than just using spikes? Also, are you soldering directly to the wood?

Hi! Thanks for your message, I am also still learning a lot :)
The spikes will not hold the rail in place especially if it's curved.
I solder the rails to PCB (copper clad) ties.
