  • Special Thanks to the individual who reminded me that I was looking for Salmon Run in the wrong spot. I sure can be clueless sometimes! Welcome everyone to my first time ever playing Salmon Run! This mode is actually a lot of fun and also earned me a nice amount of in-game currency for my troubles! For those watching, I have figured out how to use the capsules for prizes and what not that you earn during the matches. So when I ask what the bonus prizes are for and what we are trying to unlock by playing salmon run, just know that I figured it out! Turns out you have to be out of a lobby to cash in your prizes. One thing that I am loving about Splatoon 3 is all the unlockables for each mode and how they all tie into one another in a way. It makes each mode very enjoyable to play. The BEST part about this though, is that it is not pay-to-win. Take notes EA.
Like always, thank you for your time and have a nice day!

Like I mentioned previously, I've unfortunately never owned a Switch so I only actually got to _play_ Splatoon 1 on the Wii U. Because of that Salmon Run is unfortunately one of the things I haven't been able to experience, but I still get quite a lot of enjoyment out of _watching_ the new games. It's rare to see someone's first time experience with this mode!
I guess I'll go over how the "shifts" work for Salmon Run. Basically with every shift includes. Each shift has a set map for Salmon Run and four loaner weapons (you'll be given a random loaner weapon from these four with each wave). All loaner weapons are automatically equipped with Splat Bombs (for taking out certain Boss Salmonids consistently), and a random special. Normally you can try out the current loaner weapons in the test range, so practice beforehand! Salmon Run shifts rotate every few _days,_ unlike the other modes which rotate every few hours.
Besides the stage and the loaners, though, _just about anything can happen_ when you're on the field! There's a lot of variety - every stage has low, medium, and high-tide variants, and there's several special event waves that you'll start seeing after playing a while. And as you suspected, the difficulty increases the further up you climb the corporate ladder, too. From what I've seen, Salmon Run on the highest difficulties is truly insane, with bosses spawning every few seconds and egg quotas of over 20 per wave.
There are also two _special events_ for Salmon Run that you should keep an eye out for, as they're less common:
*Random Weapon Shifts:* Funnily enough, your first Salmon Run experience happened to be _during one of these events!_ These shifts are indicated by four question marks where the loaner weapons usually would be. On these shifts, you can be loaned _practically any weapon in the game_ minus the scope version of some Chargers. That's right, you can get anything from an N-ZAP to a Hydra Splatling! This takes the already chaotic Salmon Run and somehow makes it even more chaotic, as you can't plan a strategy around your loaner weapons anymore.
Also, _if you're lucky during these events,_ you might just be loaned a special weapon from Mr. Grizz's own collection. These are illegally-modified weapons with some absurd stats and properties, and you can't use them in any other mode. You didn't get one in this video, but if you look at certain waves you can see that one of your allies got a particularly strange Stringer-class weapon. There are currently 5 Grizzco weapons (about half the classes) so far, but note that for each Random Weapon Shift only ONE of those 5 will be put in the rotation.
*BIG RUN:* This event is new to _Splatoon 3_ and we don't know very much about it. What we do know, however, is that this will be a special event where the Salmonids leave their usual waters and invade the city. Instead of playing on normal Salmon Run maps, you'll be fighting on _regular multiplayer maps_ that have been overrun by the fishes! Big Run currently appears to still be in-development, but we were told that it would happen "once every few months," so keep an eye out: it might happen sooner than expected?

Fascinating! I have recorded 5 episodes of Salmon Run so far (I'll explain more on the bulk record in this Friday's episode). However, one of my biggest complaints on Salmon Run so far is the lack of map diversity. Sure the map changes with the tides like you mentioned but it is still the same 3 maps and playing them in long sessions can get a bit stale after a while, unlike in Turf War where the maps change by the hour between 12 maps. At least I think its 12 maps in TW? So to hear that the dev's are planning on having Salmon Run events on regular multiplayer maps is honestly super hype!!! I go over some of my other complaints with Salmon Run in the next episode so I won't go too far into detail on that. I still really like Salmon Run overall though, it is a good time and when you get a good group of people who stay more than one round, it gets so much better!
I will say also though, that Salmon Run has been great for me to test out motion controls and to practice for online play (See future episode). It is also an incredible way to grind for gear, abilities, and currency. I really like that! I still don't get how the skill cards/tickets work though. I will probably experiment with them sometime though. I don't want to rush too quickly into all the content this game has to offer. I want to enjoy this over a longer period of time as this series is hands down the best performing so far. It is blowing Fire Emblem out of the water right now. I honestly, did not see that coming LOL.
I am also brainstorming ideas of how to further interact with viewers and subscribers on this channel. One thing that I am considering for a subscriber special is playing some multiplayer in Turf War with some of my Subs or something. I want to find new ways to further interact with this little community we have here and make this channel feel more like a hang out spot for people, you know? I don't know what milestone that will be but I want to do something like that some day in some form. I am just thinking out loud here is all and I am hoping to get some feedback on that from people. I might make a video on it sometime going more into detail on it though. Things however, are a bit crazy in my life right now (again, more on Friday) so this comment is the best that I can do right now LOL. If you have any ideas of like a community event I could do sometime for my subs, by all means let me know! I want to do something for a milestone that anyone could participate in. Maybe some Jackbox or something.
Like always man, thank you for your comment and your time! Comments from kind viewers really make my day! :D

@@JGoebs I'm not sure of what ideas to do for milestones right now, I unfortunately am in a very busy place right now which is why I haven't been able to watch or comment on every video. Sorry, and I wish you luck with the future! And yeah, hopefully they'll add more maps to Salmon Run - I believe there are several maps from Splatoon 2 they could bring over, but with the new stuff added in 3 it might not be that simple (one in particular looks like it would be too easy now that you can throw eggs, so it would need a rework).

Hey it's all good man! The support you give already is more than I could ever hope for! :D
Imagine how WILD this game would be though if you could make custom levels online or something. Kinda like what they have in Smash Ultimate. This game would reach whole new tiers of legendary status!
