Congrats on your amazing 8th place! Something to be proud of. How heartbreaking it is to go out like Johan, though. Whether or not he wouldn't have won the title with regular production sails is pure speculation. A modified sail alone doesn't put you in first place after all. However, as hard as the disqualification is, it was the right call I think. Congrats also to Matteo. It's a well deserved world title. His performance this season was stellar.
Nico you and Lars did an amazing job for the windsurfing community this year. Congrats because of that and because of your superior performance on the water!
Man I was heartbroken to hear Johan got a DSQ. Seems absolutely ridiculous it gets discovered on the last day. I am very curious to hear what "modification" had been done. Maybe you can enlighten us? I already see comments on the prize givings with "It should've been Johan" which also sucks for Iachino who absolutely also deserves the title with that racing. Gear should get tested when you show up for an event not during or after. I am very confident Johan did not cheat on purpose. And let us not forget. The dildo of consequence rarely comes lubed - Rytis
Great result being 8th in the World. Over the year, we have seen glimpses of the performance you can achieve if you have all your ducks in a row. If you can string together more of the top notch results, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get a podium at the end of 2024. You and your kit certainly have the potential!!
Congrats on achieving your goals. It was a pleasure to follow your progress this season. Big shout out to Lars. Your follow up brought the tour to life! The Japanese are beautiful people. My brother left to teach there 20 years ago and hasn’t come back😊. All the best for next year. Go team Germany🙌 You and Michele are class acts.
Congratulation to your 8th place. You and Lars did an amazing job this year. Your daily updates and insights in the PWA circus is very interesting. Best wishes for the next season

Congrats Nico 💪 Feel so bad for Johan. Sure it wasn’t intended from his side, Point7 for sure in this, that is just not good enough from their side 😡 Severne must be happy and wonder if they were the ones giving the protest for a sail not even used in the event
Congratulations on a fantastic year, Nico! You should come down to Australia and sail with us during your break, which is our summer, because we have lots of awesome events coming up such as the Cervantes Challenge, which would provide you with heaps of great content. Hope we get to see you down here sometime soon. :-)
Congrats Nico !! I am very happy for you. Also i am a big fan and have been following your channel since the beginning. Keep up the good work ... cheers!!
Great reporting, well done on your results and on the production along the way Nico. Very surprised by the disqualification during the event, will be really unfortunate if his sponsor fucked up and supplied a non spec sail for the event. You hear about this sort of thing in F1 racing when constructors change things, but this is a first in board sports that I've heard about. It can provide an advantage for sure if specs are agreed for competitions (like using the current year production model sail), so it was the right decision in the end. In skiing when carving skis came in they made particular specs as a requirement once the governing bodies realised the impact of the turn radius on Slalom and Giant Slalom racing performance.
See below the official statement from PWA regarding the DSQ. Please everyone, be aware that none of you have all the correct information or the full picture. It's crazy to see how quickly lies and false assumption spread. Regarding wether or not a sail was used, how much the measured difference really was, how much this would actually affect the performance and so on. Of course, every party is releasing statements, but you can't believe everything you read on the internet. No doubt that Johan sailed very well. I much respect his performance throughout the year and I'm sure he will be back strong next year. Be assured that the PWA put a lot of work in, before making this call. They don't have the intention to harm anyone and they are certainly not influenced by riders or brands. They are here to enforce rules. If they don't do that, we'll end up in the Wild West. Wether the rules are good or not and should be different is a completely different topic and question. It shouldn't be confused with the fact that rules, which are currently in place, have to be enforced. www.pwaworldtour.com/index.php?id=35&tx_news_pi1%5Bnews%5D=7401&tx_news_pi1%5Bcontroller%5D=News&tx_news_pi1%5Baction%5D=detail&cHash=1dce32f4f4f8628fadf1ad55e2386ad4
Official Statement Regarding Johan Søe’s Disqualification Following equipment inspection of the top riders at the PWA Slalom Finals in Japan, Danish sailor Johan Soe, DEN-37, was unfortunately found to have been using a sail that had been modified from its original factory specification and that did not meet the registered specification for the sail, including allowances for all measurement tolerances. As such, under the rules regarding production equipment on the PWA Slalom World Tour, the protest committee had no choice but to disqualify Johan from the final event in Japan. Whilst we sympathise with Johan to have lost the World Title under such circumstances, the rules are clear and the facts surrounding the modification of the sails, and the discrepancy between the registered specifications of the sails, and the sails Johan was using, are not in question. The PWA takes the rules surrounding production equipment seriously and respects the efforts of the vast majority of brands and riders to adhere to the rules and compete fairly. As such, to ignore the use of equipment that had been physically modified and that did not meet the registered specification would have been unacceptable with respect to the fundamental principles of the rules.
Agree that the rules need to be adhered to. However, the PWA needs to have more transparent guidelines about when equipment gets checked. I feel for Johan. He probably had no idea. I would lay the blame on Point-7. He’s young and will bounce back for sure; hopefully with a new sail sponsor.
Congratulations on your season, a few ups and downs along the way but targets met. Its always interesting hearing the background stories. Great job by Lars putting these together as well.

Nico! You should think about racing in Penghu or just for a short trip in November! There will be a slalom race on 23-26 Nov. That sucks for the sport. Soe sailed amazing, like a worthy champion. I wonder who blew the whistle so late. It should have been picked up earlier. Agree with the decision, but man, devalues an otherwise amazing competition.
Schade, aber das kann ja jeder selbst entscheiden. Ich schaue mir z.B. auch Sportarten, wie F1 oder SAIL GP an, obwohl ich das niemals selbst machen werde. Ich finde das eine muss das andere nicht ausschließen. VG
Congrats Nico 💪....anyway What a SHAME this PWA décision about Soe.....in the 90ties, they were sailing with custom sails...what the point having rules in PWA ??? Every thing is more or less different.... fins, fois, etc....in this case otherwise it's calle IQ Foll, isn't it???
How crazy are the Japanese fans?! I love it. Great to see their passion for you and the sport. And thank you for the explanation of the DSQ of Johan. It seems hard but fair for all other competitors. Good luck for the next year. And big congrats to your former teammates Blanca and Matteo. You are World Champions.
0:29 a bit of a technical language error: "call out" is when you point the blame on someone because they did something bad. "shout out" is probably the expression you're looking for.
Bummer for Johan but critical rules apply to all for the relevance of a championship. Stoked for Mateo who has been the king of consistency. Congrats to Amado too and of course congrats to you Nico. #8 in the world is such an achievement!!!
Pity for Johan, but I'm sure he had no idea that his sail wasn't "standard" issue - Especially since his sailmakers are often making changes for the better. He got the latest sail and it had been tweaked but not registered yet as standard production. 20 years old and world champion: WOW. He will definitely come back next year with a vengeance.

Unfathomable embarrassment for Severne!
Thank you for your work! Congratulations for the great result!
For severne?
Sorry! P7!
well, maybe just wait and see. That was just my first reaction.
What a disappointing end to a great year of racing. 😢
Congratulations!
I finally got to see Nico windsurfing!!
It was so cool!!!
Please be sure to come to Japan again!!!!!
Congrats on achieving your goal of Top Ten this year =) My current goal is to attend one of your Bonaire clinics this century =)
Amazing job from both you and Lars. Really enjoyed watching the ups and downs of this year’s PWA races. Can’t wait for next year’s.
Hi Nico, so far, I did not follow PWA … but I really enjoyed your videos, your comments and your insights… looking forward for next year… thx

a bit of a technical language error:
"call out" is when you point the blame on someone because they did something bad.
"shout out" is probably the expression you're looking for.
Matteo benefitting from this makes it somewhat shady, considering how he parted from Cucci.
thank you for all the videos ( love all ) and for the reactions of the new world champions. pwa couldn't do it unfortunately .
Repair everything on the beach (sail and board) with Siga Tape „Farmer“!
Hallo Nico!
Can you suggest some spots for beginers at croatia or slovenia etc.
Congratulations on a fantastic season and results lookf onward to following you in the future.
