Thank you so much I was afraid I was going to break it. But with your help I was able to fix in less than two minutes.
That’s great! I’m glad you fixed it that quick! Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
The black mounting piece that enters the hole in the porcelain from the outside of the tank must be inserted with a certain orientation for the lever handle to sit straight.
This must be done before screwing on the lock nut inside the tank.
The mounting piece must be installed with the words 'top' appearing on both the upper left and the upper right sides.
I initially inserted it with a random orientation that was not correct and so the lever drooped at an angle.
Took me a while to figure it out.
The 'top' words are raised black lettering on the black background plastic material so it is easy to miss seeing them.
Unfortunately the manufacturer directions do not make this important information clear.
Thank you for your great video!

Thanks, not being even close to a handyman, I couldn't have done this using the pkg directions alone.
One suggestion, when placing the lever mount, be careful to have the arrows point up, I didn't and had to take it apart and redo it.
Thank you for watching and for the tip!
Wow, I’m killing myself here trying to take this thing apart 😂. Your video is so helpful, did it in like 2min. Thanks

Thanks for not having background music.
Everything is working... but my lever seems to be aiming a bit farther up than yours. It’s a bit weird, anything that could cause this? Like just not putting it on straight or something? Thanks for the video!!!
I’m having the same problem
I'm having trouble loosening the finger nut. You make it look so easy.
A pair of pliers may make it a bit easier to loosen. Thank you for watching! Hopefully you are able to get it free.
Thank you. I will try again.

Your concise & EZ to understand video was a GREAT tool! Back of Fluidmaster 641 packaging left me in fits of clenching jaws & less than ideal info. You’re Awesome! My question; weird, our flush handle only fits upside down as compared to yours in this video. Ours is a ToTo. Is this normal? Thanks in advance!
Part of “round rotation arm” which can be adjusted….sits butted up next to tall valve. Nothing is caught & movement is free when flushing. Sound ok?
Everything you described sounds ok to me as long as it is working correctly! Thank you for watching, I'm glad it was helpful! Please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven't already! Thank you!

Not sure what I'm doing wrong buy when I put the tank lid back it stops from flushing..help
Is the tank top somehow stopping the lever from moving?
I tried doing it, but the handle is too stiff, it wont move . 😢😢😢
Why is my handle pointing upward? I hold it level while attaching the arm and then as soon as it attaches the weight drags it down and points the lever upward.
At the 2:25 mark in the video if that grey piece is installed incorrectly it would cause this. Double check this piece. Thank you for watching, hopefully this helps!
@@5MinuteFixit I took it out, flipped it every which way, and still can’t get it straight. No matter what the weight of the arm drags into strange angle. Still works, just really weird looking.
@@5MinuteFixit figured it out. Both “top” corners must be the top side...thanks!
@@bluesdemitra38 that’s great! Thanks for letting us know the fix Incase others have the same problem!
@@bluesdemitra38 Thanks for posting this MH, I had the same problem but couldn't figure out why until I found your comment. The sleeve was covering the up arrows. Thanks!
My fingernut was stubborn and would not turn. I tried everything.
Sorry to hear that. Were you turning it clockwise, it has a reverse thread. Thanks for watching!
My new lever doesn't twist off. Not even with tools.
This handle is useless. The lip on the black plastic has a bad habit of catching the insertion slot on top leading to massive water usage.
This is a simple repair that could have gone wrong without your excellent, concise tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words and for watching! Glad you found it helpful and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you.
What do you do if the washer want come off so you can put the washer on the other side
Omg I wish there was a response to this because I am having the same exact issue right now
Same. It’s a piece of shit. I’m ready to cut it off and rig the old nut to it.
Just got mine off. Attach the handle back to it so you have something to hold as you turn it with a towel wrapped around the nut.
Im having the same issue!!
I ended up using some heat to melt the damn thing. Worked within a minute.
Thank you! I knew I was doing something wrong, you helped me fix it in second

Darn good flusher if you enjoy replacing yearly when the lever goes bad, and no buying handle by itself
I can not get the locknut off the thread, I have turned it both ways, it turns but it just stays in place, HELP! WHAT DO I DO
Is there possibly a clip or pin holding it in place or is the whole unit twisting? That’s the only reason I could see it not coming off.
Thank you! My husband works long hours and hasn’t had time to install this! Well, with help from your video it was so easy! He is going to be shocked! 😊😊 Thank you!!

@@5MinuteFixit ex asa
This is the best video on the Fluidmaster Universal Fit Toilet Tank Lever. I went through 10 other videos before finding this, which was the only one useful. The problem was I needed the handle to side mount and couldn't get the angle adjusted without breaking it. Would have been 12-15 dollars flushed down the drain if it was not for this video. Thanks.
Thank you for watching and for the compliment, I really appreciate it!
@@5MinuteFixithelp! I have a. SIDE MOUNT handle. This lever was installed previously, but broke. I can't figure out how to turn the arm to form a 90° angle as was previously done.
Best vid ever for 2022 😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
That looks easy, except for the fact the hand nut will NOT come off of the new fixture. You can't install it until you can get the hand nut off. That thing isn't budging.
Some others have said this same thing and returned theirs and the new one was ok. Maybe manufacturing defect?
I brought it back to Home Depot and took a chance exchanging it for the same model and the new one was fine. However, I still can't get the adjustment exact. The nut is fastened, but the handle is still a bit loose. I tried using the sleeve but that didn't work.
Exactly what I needed. Sounds simple but is not. Thanks for the showing me before I mess it up.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
thank u. i couldnt get the arm to rotate but ur video helped me turn it and pop the arm into the knob and do the installation. the package instructions and fluidmaster website were no help at all! only youtube could help me once again! thank u! p.s. i didnt turn off the water or drain the tank. but if i had needed to your video reminded me how to. thank u again for making this video and having it available!
Thanks for a marvelous video. The instructions were concise & very clear. Plus you covered some things that similar videos did not, for example, first turn off the water supply to toilet. That's important advice that other videos missed, duh.
My hand nut will not screw off ive tried everything . Should I just buy a new one
Sorry it took me a while to respond, I would say yes unless someone can chime in with any suggestions. It seems that some people have had a tough time with that nut. Thank you for watching.
I sprayed mine with WD-40.
Its says universal, but when I fit mine on the side of the tank, the arm only twist without lifting? The video shows it on the front of the tank.
Horrible product. Cheap plastic garbage. I bought two of these and the nut was impossible to get off (as in I never could get it off, ended up breaking it trying). The problem is the nut would not catch the threading so it would just spend endlessly at the base and could not be removed. Defective product and this thing part gets way too much praise... It's an over-engineered design implemented with subpar quality parts. Typical Fluidmaster.
Thank you, now I can finally go to Chipotle again! 🤗
It helped but I wish there were more videos with different options. Mine is a side flapper and it took me more than 5 minutes because the lever wasn't positioning correctly. Finally got it. Thank you
Its all nice, easy and beatiful just like the instructions..EXCEPT (1:55) "then LOOSE the fingernut" or "unthread locknut" (in the instructions box) AND IT DOES NOT HAPPEN, THE BLACK NUT DOES NOT DETACH from the other piece..It does not matter if you use your hand or a wrench, clockwise or counterclockwise. IT is stuck. Useless piece of plastic crap...in my case the Fluidmaster 640
Could the handle you bought be defective? The nut on the one I used was almost too loose.
@@5MinuteFixit I decided it was the case, just got another piece, simpler and with the nut already detached
I install this type of fluid master but when i flush the handel have to go up to flush not down what did i do wrong
I feel really empowered when I can do things without a man! Well, technically you walked me through it, BUT I DID IT...THANKS!
That’s great, I bet you could have done it without me walking you through it! I’m glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching!
This was hard to follow because your hand got in the way. I don’t know which way I’m supposed to turn the piece that holds the lever on the inside one side is flat the other isn’t. I don’t normally do any of this stuff so it wasn’t really a simple thing frustrating.
I hate reading the instructions 🤦🏽♂️ 😂 your video was perfect THANKS!
Thank you for watching! I’m glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this vid, i knew something was wrong with my replacement arm.... the tabs that whole the two assemblies together were broken! One return and 5 mins later, we were back i business....
That’s great! I’m glad the video was helpful! Please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
Bad manufacturing. Separating the handle s apples the plastic like the cheap garbage it is.
What if the handle is on the side?
great video, watched at least 10 times, but when it comes to putting the handle on, it seems that the arm is not long enough to latch onto the handle. I squeezed, and tried maneuver but it would not click. I installed it like the video and turned around the lugnut, but only works one way. Any suggestions please, Thanks.!!
sorry to hear, I am also having trouble. It is very interesting to see how the people making these videos reply always to the complements and not the people having issues.
@@agustinconti5461 don't hesitate to tell me the problem. I feel sort of like an expert. The guy was great....suggested that it just didn't fit...taped the package up for return. This was my second one...I think I could fix any lever issue... as long as I have the correct part.
Man im on my third attempt with this damn thing and it barely opens the flapper on my side tank
I had a little trouble due to corner mount. Not enough room for swivel on right. Figured out that turning upside down so swivel on left solved problem. Also putting on knob requires stronger push than I expected. Now works well.
I'm glad you found the way that works best for your toilet. Sometimes those corner mounts can be tricky! Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven't already! Thank you!

I cannot get the angle to move
Excellent product
Thanks for your tutorial. My problem is that I can't remove the old handle. the finger nut is not moving with channel locks or pliers.
I would just try to break the old handle if you are discarding it anyway, just be careful not to damage your toilet.
I thought this video was about to take a turn when he said, "Okay guys, there's only one thing left to do..."
😂 Hahaha! This wins best comment of the month! Lol seriously! Thank you for watching!
never explained how you got the 2 plastic pieces to twist. I can't get it to move without breaking it.
A couple other people have commented that they could not twist the plastic pieces and it turns out they had a defective unit. They returned theirs and the replacements were fine. Hopefully this helps, thank you for watching!
Is there a reason I can't adjust the angle? It won't move and I keep feeling like it's just going to break
