The scene between Stef and her dad killed me. I cried. I went through that whole speech with my mother and seeing in on the screen broke me down. It was never a choice to be gay, but to love and be loved.
I love this episode, especially because it shows the two sides of religion (and particularly Catholicism): those who still hate us LGBTQ+ folks, and those who don't believe that homosexuality is a sin. I know some Catholics who are affirming of us, and I know of some who are not. If you know one Catholic, you do not know every Catholic. As for the Church itself, it is changing, but very slowly, and sometimes by not enough. What's most important, however, is that there are many people within the Church that are trying to move it along on these issues.
Yes. I agree. It is hard because when I say I’m Catholic I always add the “but I’m progressive” or “I’m a bad catholic” and when they ask what does that mean I will say like I believe in human rights. The bad make us all look bad.
Ironic to watch this episode about religion and homophobia when I am literally isolating by myself while a house party of religious homophobes is going on downstairs - double irony because of mine and my cousin's extreme gayness. I've heard enough "love the sinner, hate the sin" hate speech thrown around 🤮
The whole Liam plot always makes me so sad, Callie deserved better :(
you'll find that almost every choice steph and lena Ever Make is about protecting and doing right by their children. all five of their children.
