    I once played 'if i were a bell' in music school, and my teacher said he knew that space was important, but I was leaving out too many notes, it wasn't musical anymore. He didn't know that I've transcribed what Miles played on 'Jazz at the Plaza'.

    The big takeaway here for me is "I just can't think of anything to play". Oftentimes when improvising we just try to fill space with something, anything to avoid sounding like we have nothing to say, when we should be playing every phrase with intention.
